Diet Coke and Fluid Retention
I'm having fluid retention issues and I don't think my diet coke habit is helping but I've given up so much else! I've always had tendency to puffy ankles but it is getting worse. Even the diuretic the Dr. gave me doesn't help that much. She says to keep the sodium under 2000, which it is unless I eat out. The diet coke…

Exercise I can watch TV to?
I have a step platform and I've been doing simple step-up-and down on it. It works pretty well and is so easy to get in because I can do it at home in front of the TV and it is more intensive than walking, which I also do. Anyway, I worry about repetitive stress doing the same thing like that so much. What else would fit…

Healthy BMI!
Yay! I lost 1.6 lbs this week. Thanks, in part to being sick. Heh. The cool thing is that I now have a healthy BMI! Yay! Might as well post the "Before" and "After" in honor. ;?P "Before" At my brother's wedding in 2006. "After" This was actually last week when I was able to fit back in the rose dress. Not the best…

I conquered the movie theatre
I snuck in .7 oz (weighed them) plain almonds and a Weight Watchers minibar. I also had a bottle of water snuck in my purse. ;?) I'm a bit proud of my eating and exercise today, though some may not think its so great. I hope it makes up for the high sodium day yesterday.

Elliptical/Anytime Fitness
I got a 7-day pass to Anytime Fitness and am going to start that this evening. I have used an elliptical at gyms before and love it. Its my favorite machine. I've always just been a guest of somebody (Mom used to teach Tai Chi at a gym) so I haven't been able to do it on a regular bases so my questions are: 1. Is the…

What exercise should I do today?
It is my brother's birthday and I am stopping by on my way home from work to say hi to him. I meant to get him his present but I forgot it when I left for work this morning. Anyway, this will depend on if he wants to have dinner or not, I suppose. I can... 1. Walk in the mall on the way home, then do my little 20 min…

20 Minutes of Push-Mow

Going to the cutest cafe...
For breakfast with a cousin. I'm going to get a poached egg and polenta, for protein and whole grain. And lots of their awesome coffee. They'll bring you organic low fat milk instead of cream for it. http://www.toadhollowcafe.com/menu

Anybody use a step platform (knee safety question)
I'd like to work up to at least 40 if not 60 minutes of stepping up and down. I currently do 30. The last time I did a full hour of step areobics regularly, I was 22 (I'm 38 now) and I recall that my knees started to bother me a little. Should I not do a full hour of it every day?

1.2 more lbs gone thanks to WW and MFP
Thanks to WW for the Good Health Guidelines and the irl support and accountibility of the meetings/weigh-ins and their messageboards. Thanks to MFP for the awesome droid app that helps me track my sodium for the fluid retention issue I have and the calories, to make sure I don't go too much to town on the fruit, and the…

3 Food Finds!
Mio! Thank you, thank you, thank you to the poster who suggested this in my diet coke thread. I got this from Wal-Mart. It is a flavoring for water. I know Crystal Light is low but it is calories and sodium, which add up in the amts I have been drinking it. Mio has neither and adds quite a nice flavor to water, enough to…

Would this be a weird lunch?
Egg beaters scrabled with a light string cheese and 1/2 a c of brown rice and broccoli on the side?

Ah! Help! Fluid Retention and Weigh In tomorrow.
I had a WW smoothie made with milk and banana for breakfast. I think the banana should help. I could blame my friends and family but it is my own fault. 1. Saturday. I had sushi with a friend and her family for her birthday and ate her hibachi veggies to boot as she didn't want them. Sodium in both. I didn't eat any rice…

Drs. and nurses and nutrition
I don't know if it is just the Nurse Practitioner I see or if this is rampant in the medical profession, but I know more about nutrition than she does! Seriously, she had to look up guidelines for sodium to tell me (so I can limit my fluid retention). She didn't know diet coke is low sodium but has phosphates and I don't…

My Stupid College Diets (for the lulz)
This is from the I'm lucky to be alive files or don't try this at home files. LOL. I was remembering what I ate when I was getting my BA and losing the Freshmen 30. Yes, it was 30 for me and I am 4'11'' ;?P I lost it but, OMG! I had a calorie-counting book and a nutritional almanac but this was the early 90s, so I wasn't…

Sedentary or Lightly Active?
Okay. Which would be the best setting for me? I'm a librarian but I'm in Public Services and walk the length and breadth of a 2-story library at least 2-3 times a day and walk about helping patrons or patrolling the computers way more than that. I probably don't sit down more than 15 min at a time and, when I'm home, I do…

Hi!
I have 11 more lbs to lose. I'm short (4'11'''), so it counts. I'm also 38 and thyroidy but I lose weight pretty well for all that. Anyway, I've been having fluid retention issues and the Dr. said to keep the sodium under 2000, so the droid app can help me with that. It is a great app, btw.
