  • Oh, Melmade, I just emailed a lady that had a $50 Nordic Track for sale in my area. Hopefully I can get it and enjoy it. Thanks again.
  • Thanks, guys. I'm sorry I left this for so long but I've been busy. I really like the Nordic Track ideal. I have an antique bed that sits very high. I could easily put a Nordic Track under that. As to the focusing on exercise, I've got to do what is sustainable to me and sustainable on a daily basis. This means walking…
  • Yeah, that RMR is if you are in bed all day. I'm 4'11'' and I am LOSING eating about 1500 cals a day. I lost 1.2 last week. Of course, I am exercising but not crazily so. If you are up and about a bit, walking around at work and/or cleaning house on a typical day, look for a calorie estimate for maintaining as lightly…
  • Kiap, Escadachick, J-Zanzig, you ladies look awesome!
  • Nuts and avocado for calories and healthy fat? Full fat dressing on your salad? All of these in reasonable portions, of course.
  • Everybody really does look great. Firefit - That is amazing!
  • Yeah, I figure MFP overestimates the exercise so I *try* not to eat all my exercise calories. I do eat some, though, but not all on a normal, "good" day. Lost 1.2 last week. :)
  • Thanks, Gwen. I did/am doing Weight Watchers. I'm using the awesome MFP app for droid because the WW droid app sucks and I need to keep track of sodium per the Dr. and calories so I don't go nuts with the fruit. Here are some better pics. I've gained a few lbs back but have lost back 5.8 since rejoining WW and 1.2 last…
  • Here are the better pics I was talking about. I am "before" at my brother's wedding in 2006, probably around 169 (I'm 4'1l'') and this morning (125.2 at my WW weigh-in yesterday). I lost/am losing it with WW and MFP (I gained a few back but am taking control by going back to WW and using MFP before it gets out of hand and…
  • Thanks, guys. I didn't have that much of a problem but it did hurt a litle. I did do some damage to the knees when I was a teen and was jogging in place indoors barefoot. :?P I'll look into knee braces and be careful with my form. It is just such a useful activity as the platform was cheap, I can watch TV in the AC while I…
  • LOL! Something like that happened to me awhile back. Congrats!
  • You all look great! Lorina, those are amazing. Bikermum, Kra, Saruman, everybody, well done. Well, here I am. I was at a top weight of 169 when I started Weight Watchers for the first time. I gained some back and am losing it with WW and MFP. WW for the Good Health Guidelines and the irl support and discipline of the…
  • Well, here I am. I was at a top weight of 169 when I started Weight Watchers for the first time. I gained some back and am losing it with WW and MFP. WW for the Good Health Guidelines and the irl support and discipline of the meetings/weigh-ins. I need that. And the points, of course. MFP for the awesome droid app and to…
  • Eeep. I meant to say you're a little low on the protein, by your goals. Maybe add some beans to the polenta. Actually, you do have enough fat.
  • I agree. You need to eat at least 1200 calories. Also, I don't see enough dairy in there. You are young and still building your bones. You could use more fruit and veg, too. More of everything, really.
  • I wouldn't worry about the sugar. It is from natural sources. You need more, though. More calories, more protein, more fat, etc. Your body needs fuel to exist.
  • You can use grocery stores as your fast food. Many have salad bars and you can get yogurts and fruit, etc. Also, Subway, Wendy's, Chick Fil-a, etc. all have their nutritional information on their websites, so you'll know what is okay.

  • Wine is probably the safest alcohol choice but here is what I occasionally do: 1. Diet tonic water. 2. 1 shot of Gin. 3. 1 TBS of the Torani sugar free raspberry syrup. 4. Squeeze of lime.
  • Cool. Carry on with the almond milk, then or alternate, as you say, for variety. :) Ha! I gained 30 lbs my freshmen year and lost it in 3 months when I was your age with a calorie counting book, walking shoes, and a step areobics platform (which I still have). You're eatly way healthier than I was then, WTG.
  • Yeah, I'm way over the MFP suger reccomendation but it is mostly fresh fruit with me and I'm not diabetic, so I'm not concerned and, if I don't lose at tomorrow's WI, it is because of the high sodium this week, not the sugar. I know the sugar is the fruit because I usually at are a bit under on carbs but way over on sugar…
  • P.S. Older and shorter fellow shortie here (4'11'' and 38).
  • That looks pretty good. Only 2 things, I don't think that the almond milk has much calcium. Check on that. You might change that for soy if you don't want to do 2 cups of milk. Make sure you get at least 2 dairy-type servings. Soy counts. You have plenty of fruit/veg, and enough protein. You are a bit low on fat. Maybe at…
  • Anything liquidy. I agree with the smoohies and yogurt PPs have mentioned. Now, I'm lazy and I'm on WWrs (I need to track my sodium per the Dr. and love the myfitnesspal app. Much better than the WWrs droid app). Anyway, I LOVE the WWrs smoothies. I think the Alba smoothies are comprable. I had a WWrs creamy chocolate…
  • Potassium, definitely. Bananas and watermelon, as have been mentioned, are my go-tos. Apple cider vinegar or lemon juice in warm water might help.
  • I think I know what I'm having for dinner. A salad with beans on it and nothing but olive oil and lemon juice for the dressing (dressings can be so high sodium). Watermelon for desert! Will drink lots of water with the green tea tabs or Mio.
  • Thanks, guys! I had forgotten that lemon juice in warm water and apple cider vinegar can help. I certainly won't be drinking any diet coke today. I do Crystal Light to help get in more water but that has sodium. Mio and green tea tabs, here I come. I'll have to see if I can pick up those green tea tablets and Mio.…
  • Even back in the early 1990s, when I was a 20-yr-old losing the "Freshmen 30" on her own with a calorie-counting book and a nutritional almanac, I was all about how much can I eat and still lose weight. I exercised. A lot. Most days, it was 2 hours. I shot for between 1500-1800 on those 2-hrs-of-exercise days. I lost the…
  • Protein - I'm routinely over my protein thanks to the egg beaters, milk, beans, and Greek yogurt. No lack of protein here. :)
