Expecting twins?
Anyone out there expecting twins. I'm coming up on 10 weeks. Official due date of Sept. 10, but I won't get past mid August or so. The 50ish pounds I need to gain are freaking me out a little. I'd love some support.

Is MFP a hindrance or a help?
With very few exceptions (ie things I haven't even the slightest clue how to log) I log EVERYTHING I eat. On most days, I plan my meals out before I even eat them. Today I started thinking, am I becoming too dependent on MFP? Could I eat right, and not overeat without MFPs help? Does my diligent logging make the program a…

5'10" 199lbs trying to lose about 40lbs.
I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Dede. I'm 27. I'm 5'10" and currently weigh 199 lbs. I'd like to get down to somewhere between 165 and 155. Is there anyone out there with similar goals and/or similar stats that wants to be friends? My husband and I are losing weight together, but his road is so different from mine…

Mothers’ diets biggest influence on kids eating healthy
I found this article interesting, so I thought I'd share. "EAST LANSING, Mich. — As health professionals search for ways to combat the rise in obesity and promote healthy eating, new research reveals a mother's own eating habits - and whether she views her child as a ‘picky eater' - has a huge impact on whether her child…

vegetarianism and eating local
Curiosity question: Is it possible to be a vegetarian and a locavore if you live in a climate that makes it nearly impossible to grow/harvest vegetables year round? Follow-up question: Are any of the vegetarians here bothered by the adverse ecological impact of shipping vegetables from far off places? Do you try to get…

Polar FT40, Fit Test, and VO2 Max. What does it mean?
So I just got my new Polar FT40 in the mail. I did the fit test, and it gave me a VO2 Max of 35 the first time I did it and 39 the second time I did it. Which should I use? How will this affect the calories burned? Does it even matter?

Eating back up to BMR
I have a quick question. My BMR (katch-mcardle) is 1534 my Tdee - 20% is 1840. I find that my exercise takes me under BMR a few times a week. Is there a rule for when to start eating back. If exercise takes me under BMR by less than 100 calories should I worry about eating back up to BMR. I am one of the few people who…

Do any of you ladies tan?
I know this is an odd question for us, but do you? Seriously? I have some stretch marks. I understand tanning helps to diminish their appearance. Anyone have experience with this? I don't even know where to begin. LOL

High Cal, Low Sodium, Mod Carb, Low Dairy, Clean Diary?
I generally take in 1800-2000+ calories on workout days, but I'm having problems keeping my macros where I want them. As I try to keep my macros in line I find myself falling short of my calorie goal on heavy workout days. I'd like to eat moderate carbs, like 150-200g. Carbs make me kind of bloated, but I refuse to give…

NSV while inhaling pancakes. LOL
Ok, I said I wasn't going to mention this, but I just have to. I'm so pumped I can hardly stand it. A little background: I've been losing weight since mid-November. I'm taking it slow. I have MFP set to lose 1 pound a week. My eating habits are usually very good except for Saturdays or Sundays. One or the other is usually…

Runners I need advice on heart rate management
So, I'm not a distance runner. I'm trying to be, but man is it difficult for me. I ran track in school (100m dash, 400m relay), but I could never run more than a mile without completely falling apart. So, I've been doing c25k. I am about 6 weeks into it. I've had to repeat some weeks twice as I try to get my endurance up.…

I have a bad knee, but I want to run!
Do any of you have a bad knee, but still run? If so, how do you do it? Do you have any tips or tricks that make it less/not painful? I really want to run. I've always wanted to, but I've had a bad knee since 1997. I injured it while sprinting. I was only 12 at the time. When I injured it I went to the doctor and was…
