Using Calipers correctly
So I've purchased some calipers to test for body fat. I've been using a scale, which I know is inaccurate. I'm also aware that calipers can be very inaccurate, so I'm trying to learn how to properly use them. I've done a bunch of reading on the best equations and whatnot. But my problem has to do with the actual pinching…

Muscle loss due to injury in only 2 weeks possible?
So I'm not sure I use this site for what most people do, but maybe somebody has some insight for me anyway? I use this site purely to track what I eat so that if my body starts changing, I can go back and see if it's something I've done with my diet and so forth. I'm not trying to lose weight, but perhaps just tighten…

Anybody iPhone savvy and using mapmyride?
Hi everybody. I wasn't sure where to post this and I know that I'm asking about a different site, but I prefer to use mapmyride for logging my workouts as it allows for a lot more details. Then I use myfitnesspal for logging meals. I have, what is maybe, a detailed question that requires the same kind of answer. Hopefully.…

Serving Size Questions
Maybe this is a dumb question, but when the nutrition facts on oatmeal say that the serving size is 1/2 cup, is that cooked or dry? I rarely eat oatmeal and it doesn't specify. Pasta is usually in dry measurements right?

Polar and it's hypocrisy
Warning: This is a bit of a rant. :noway: I know that many of you on here are big polar fans, and because of this I have been doing a lot of research on them and considering switching from my current Timex HRM. After an entire month of dealing with them, I have come to determine that regardless of the "possibility" that…

Cardio, cardio, cardio...
Okay so I want to incorporate more cardio into my workout. The problem is - I get SO FREAKING BORED!!!!! See with strength training it's like you're moving around, changing workouts, etc. But with cardio, it's just this long boring stretch of one thing. So I'm looking for something, or many somethings that are just…

Posture
I'm not sure if this belongs in "fitness and exercise," but it didn't really belong in the others, so here it is. I was wondering if anybody has any good tips around posture. My posture is fine when I'm standing and whatnot, but when I sit I just slouch. I usually slide down as low in my chair as I can and I'd like…

Equation Used for calculating calories burnt?
Hello.... I posted this question in a different thread but I think it may have gotten lost since it wasn't really in line with the topic. So I thought I'd post it separately. Yesterday I had a sort of lower impact exercise. I hiked up a mountain for just over 2 hours. But I really wasn't feeling tired at all and my heart…

Logging Exercise
Is there a reason why when you log your weight training on this site it doesn't also include a place for how many calories burnt during this time? It only has it on the "cardio" section.

2300 Calorie deficit
This post really has no point - just thought I'd share my day. My friend and I decided to go for a hike today since it was nice. We first drove her car to the end point and then she jumped in my car and we went to the start. Reason being, I hate back tracking. So instead of walking somewhere and walking back... I just walk…

Kind of an odd question....
So I've had this strange question floating around in my head since I was little and I thought I'd ask your thoughts on it. Perhaps this is the wrong category for it as it is pretty much the opposite of good nutrition, but there really isn't an area for how to consume bad foods. ;) Here it is: I'm wondering if you bought…

Cardio before or after?
I've heard lot's of different ideas around this, but what do you think is better.... to do cardio before weights or after? And this is if you aren't trying to "build" muscle as much as you're trying to burn fat and get tone.
