Logging Exercise

Is there a reason why when you log your weight training on this site it doesn't also include a place for how many calories burnt during this time? It only has it on the "cardio" section.

If you want to enter calories for weight training you have go to the cardio section and search strength training and enter your calories there. The section you are referring to is just to record your reps and sets0

I didn't think you burned calories when you weight/strength train. How many do you burn, usually? Like for crunches or something?0

so are you saying that the weight training it also burns off calories??? I didnt know that.. I have only been counting my cardio..0

Right... which is what I've been doing. I was just wondering if there was an actual reason why they didn't include it.
And yes you burn calories when you do anything. I only include cardio and strength training as exercise calories though. I never include everyday things like walking my dog.
But I have no idea how many calories you burn with crunches alone. I do a pretty intense hour strength training work out with a trainer, and even with that it totally varies depending on how hard I'm pushing it, whether or not I'm doing all of my reps with proper form, and sometimes I work through them more quickly than others. I also never do regular crunches as I've been told by a few trainers that crunches alone will not give me the outcome I'm looking for - which I can believe since I used to do hundreds of them in high school.
Anyway, I tend to vary anywhere between 500-800 during strength training depending on the above. However, I think for most people that I see doing strength training in the gym, that their number would be much lower since people seem to sort of mosey around and take 40 minutes to do very little.
My trainer has me do 1 set of 2 different exercises and then I "can" take a 30 second break before doing it again. Then I do it again, and then again, and then again. I usually take 30 seconds after 4 sets of 2 different exercises. Then I go into two different ones and same thing. Then another 2 and same thing. then after that if there is time left over, he usually has me do some boxing or something. Just giving you an idea of what kind of workout is resulting in a 500-800 calorie burn during strength training.0 -
OH... and my reps are at 15-20 depending on the exercise. My heart rate is always in the upper 10% range while doing this as well. So... obviously if you are doing a less intense weight training session, you can expect a lower calorie burn. I just use my HRM.0
