Needing supportive friends
Hi all .... I am not new to this having been around for a bit over 18 months now. I had a great group of friends in the early part of my journey and they helped me get rid of all the weight I needed to lose. I am now in the second part of my journey which is maintaining the losses while building a bit of muscle to go with…

One year on .... (with pics)
Well today marks my 1 year anniversary on MFP (although I missed 4 days logging in May while in Vietnam) and I wanted to share my success with everyone - particularly those that are just starting out. Follow the program and it does produce results but only if you are honest with yourself. I started this journey on Jan 5…

Heavy Lifters please .... advice needed
Hi all ... I used to be a much larger guy and to date have dumped around 30kg using this site to reach the point where I am about 70% happy with my body. That other 30% is where this thread comes in. I have recently (3 weeks ago) started on a heavy lifting program to try and build a little on my scrawny frame and to…

Sleep apnea - it is not a life sentence.
Four and a half years ago I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. This is a condition that affects a number of people - many of whom are overweight. For those that don't know sleep apnea is (simply) a condition where the sufferer stops, and then suddenly starts, breathing periodically through the night. In a little more detail…

Third (and final) GOAL reached - 246 days
Today was my official weigh in day and I knew that I was there from from Friday but was hoping a couple of bad food choices yesterday didn't put me back above the weight. Stepped on the scales this morning and the number bounced around for a bit then settled 74.7kg (164.34lbs) - almost half a kilo (0.67 of a lb) under goal…

Some tips - may or may not help
Someone messaged me and asked for help with some tips as to how I met my goal (twice) and lost 60lbs (27kgs) in 6 months so I thought since I had to write it for them I may as well share some of my ....uh ... wisdom  Everyone is different and what worked for me may not work for you but good luck in your journey ...…

Damn ..... knee pain in runners.
I have been slowly working up to run my first 5km on this coming Sunday. Last Saturday I went for a quick 2km lap around the block after going to the gym and noticed my knee was a little sore. Sunday still a little sore ....still aching today. I have stopped the exercise (apart from a 2km walk last night and a very slow…

6 Months .... Goal reached (twice)
Well here we are 6 months into the year and at the date I set to reach my goal weight of 85kg - the weight I was at when I was playing state level basketball (under 18s). I started on Jan 1 at 106.8 kg and I actually hit my 85kg goal early in May despite having just spent 3 weeks overseas (Singapore and Vietnam) eating and…

For almost my entire adult life I have been suffering hypertension and moderate hypercholesteroleamia but neither quite bad enough for medication Today I had to go to the doctor to get results of my recent blood tests. Needing more friends to keep me motivated
Hi All .... currently my motivation is ok .... but lets be real about this - its been just under two weeks. Anyone can stay in line for that long. I am concerned that when the weather starts to get (consistantly) colder or that when work gets busier or any of a million other distractions occur, that my motivation may…

Suggestions for improving the balance in my diet
Looking at the daily breakdown of my diet it looks to be mostly not too bad. However I am always very low on Carbs, Potassium, Vit A, Calcium and Iron and my sugar and Vit C are always over. Any suggestions as to tasty stuff to fill this gap without adding too many calories.

Gday All - New Aussie on Board
Gday all New around here and thought that I would introduce myself. I am a typical Aussie guy. I used to work as a scuba instructor at a resort on the Great Barrier Reef and through good diet (no KFC on the island) and lots of physical activity (2-3 dives a day everyday) I was very fit and healthy at 85kg. Unfortunately…
