Damn ..... knee pain in runners.

I have been slowly working up to run my first 5km on this coming Sunday. Last Saturday I went for a quick 2km lap around the block after going to the gym and noticed my knee was a little sore. Sunday still a little sore ....still aching today. I have stopped the exercise (apart from a 2km walk last night and a very slow 3km walk tonight) but it does not seem to be getting any better.

The pain is along the inside of the kneecap toward the front. It is tender to touch this area and it aches during the walk but I cant say that I notice it while sitting or laying down/

Any suggestions to get me across the line Sunday ??
