The year in cycling
Two years ago I came on here and y'all helped me lose 62 pounds. Last April I bought a road bike and started riding and fell in love with it. I set the rather lofty goal to ride 7,000 miles this year, but I totally screwed that up. I've finished riding for the year due to the weather forecast for the next couple of years…

Here's a huge twenty minute nutritious meal for 730 cals.
This took 20 minutes to prepare including washing the single black iron skillet I used to make it. It was delicious. To see what's in it and the nutritional values, check my diary for today and look at dinner.

Body composition analysis WIN!
I went up to UT today and had a DEXA scan done. That stands for dual energy xray absorptiometry scan. It is the most accurate type of body composition analysis. They can tell you the lean mass, fat mass and bone mass in you arms, legs, trunk, abs, and hips. Some surprising results included that my total bone mass is only…

Here's the reason to stick with it when it gets hard.
For years, I looked down and was embarrassed by the size of my stomach. As it grew, my embarrassment turned to shame and helplessness. Day after day I worked to ignore the shape I was in so I wouldn't dwell on it. Today thanks to MFP things are different. I look down and I'm still amazed that the gut is gone. It's GONE!…

Where to get body fat % measured?
Where should I go to get my body fat index done accurately? My WW scale gives a value of 19.6% but I'd like to find out what it really is and then I can use that to get an idea of how accurate my scale is and to readjust my weight goals. Is immersion the best method and how much should I expect to pay? I'd prefer to go…

Wife wants my butt back
Since I lost weight, my butt shrank. My wife is not happy about that. I'm working out every day and am seeing some results but she could care less about big arms and chest. She wants my booty back. Unfortunately it is the first thing to go and I'm not willing to gain back the beach ball belly to have the round booty. What…

Hrm accuracy
This morning I rode the bike for 30 minutes with my new polar ft40. It calculated that I had burned 385 calories. MFP said 255. Which is right? The hrm said I averaged 77% of max hr for the 30 minutes. I don't want to kid myself.

Resetting goals- may need a little help here
I have changed my goals as I approach maintenance. I have been very aggressive in my deficit in order to get into my new wardrobe and because the results were a big motivator to keep going. I am now fitting my new clothes well and people are saying, "you look great but don't lose anymore" on a regular basis. I am working…

Unexpected side benefits of losing weight.
I just recently realized some unexpected benefits to losing weight. It's been about three months since I took an antacid. I used to have to take nexium at least every other day for heart burn. I used to wake up with terrible acid reflux but not since I started eating right with the help of MFP. I also just realized I no…

I am so excited
This morning I weighed in at 199.9 lbs. This is such a good feeling. I started at 235 lbs. but when I got on myfitnesspal I was at 233. A while back, I got a more accurate scale that reads 5 lbs lighter, so there is a big blip in my chart but even with that, I have lost over 30 lbs. My goal is 180. I am 6'3" and 49 years…

My 90 day report
I just ran a report on my last 90 days. This is after the easy first pounds came off. What it shows is that in the last 90 days I've lost 30 pounds in an almost straight line with a little plateau and a few blips here and there. 30 in 90 has a nice ring to it. I have about 10 more to go and my goal has always been by Xmas,…

Oh c'mon... Sodium too?
I just posted this as a comment on a friends page but it has been bothering me lately so I figured it might be a good topic to discuss in the greater community. "I went shopping last night and looked at the sodium on everything I considered buying. I wasn't surprised by what was salty but I was at just how salty those…

End of day vs morning weight
I check my weight before bed and in the morning after coffee and bathroom but before breakfast or water. Usually there is a difference of around 1.5 to 3 lbs. depending on the bathroom break. I estimate about a lb. of water loss through respiration is a big part of that. Last night, I had stirfry with some meat and lots of…

goal setting and body types
I have been wondering about the goals that different people set and why. I grew up quite skinny and at high school graduation I was 6'4" and 165 lbs. Nearing 50, I had shrunk in height by over an inch and had swelled around the middle to 235 lbs. I set my goal at 185 and later dropped it to 180 lbs. I get lots of comments…
