What's your "why?"
I have numerous (other than obvious health benefits) but here are a few: To finally feel confident in a swimsuit To be the hot ex-girlfriend What's your why?

Simple vs. easy and getting back to basics
I've been thinking a lot lately about the concept of weight loss. I lost about 50 pounds from January, 2016-July, 2016. Since about August, I've gained and lost the same 10 pounds. I haven't been able to get my groove back. I KNOW how to lose weight, I've done it. The concept is simple. When I was focused, it was easy. I…

Firming and toning
Looking for a little advice. Over the last 12 months I have lost about 55 pounds, with about 20 more to go. I just booked a trip to the Dominican republic for my 40th birthday which is 11 weeks away. Can someone give me some suggestions where weights are concerned so I can hopefully firm and tone up my body a little bit? I…

Dating and dieting
I need help. How do you balance dating and dieting? I've lost 50 pounds in the last year and feel confident and pretty for the first time in forever. I still have a little ways to go but I'm comfortable with where I'm at. My question is how do I balance dating and dieting? I want to go out and I want to eat all the food…

Cute coat success
I used to despise shopping for winter coats for several reasons. First, I hated having to buy a 2X so that my thick sweaters would fit under it. And, I was wearing thick sweaters to cover up my fat. Second, they all made me look like I was wearing...well, a 2X. I looked huge, fat and completely unfashionable. This year I…

Recognizing your successes and your failures
I've posted a few thing in the last week or so, but over the last few days I've really been thinking about my successes AND my failures. I'm learning how both are as important as the other. I started all of this last January at 205 pounds. I was not only fat, but I was also unhappy, I ate poorly and I drank too much.…

Loose skin vs body fat
I know this may seem like a strange question, but after a 50-55 pound weight loss I am having a hard time telling the difference between what could possibly be excess skin and what is still body fat that I need to lose. I've gone from 205 to around 153. I'm 5'5" so I could probably lose another 25 to 30 pounds. Below is a…

Struggling to find my groove in year 2
About one year ago I finally had enough of being fat. I started out 2016 weighing in at about 205 pounds. One year later I'm down about 50-55 pounds depending on the day. I still have about 20-30 pounds I'd like to lose, but won't know until I get closer to that weight. I also have a lot of toning to do. Last year seemed…

Tracking Calories/Exercise: MFP or Fitbit?
Does anyone choose Fitbit over MFP? I feel like I get a more accurate read from Fitbit. I love the support I get from MFP, but find the other benefits from Fitbit to possibly be better. I'm still trying it out, so I'm curious to what others think/do.

You are enough
I needed to hear this today and am leaving this here in case you do too. I posted previously today regarding a Thanksgiving situation where an ex and I will both be present. I was having a hard time articulating why I held onto so much anger towards him when I had no desire to be in a relationship with him anymore. One…

Need a fresh start as I'm doing something wrong
I've been struggling lately for some reason. Not so much with eating "right" or logging, but the scale just won't budge. I keep bouncing up and down with the same few pounds. I've upped my protein, cut back on carbs, upped and lowered my calorie intake and nothing seems to be working. I've not lost hope or given up but it…

Fitbit BMR accuracy
Can someone tell me if the BMR for fit bit charge seems accurate to them? Mine is telling me my BMR is 1340. I'm a 39 y/o female, 5'5" tall weighing 150 pounds. Your sites I look at tell me it's around 1800. Any insight would be appreciated.

Wait...Was that me???
I've been putting my heart and energy back into losing weight again after being fairly complacent for the last few months. I've been getting very frustrated with myself because the scale doesn't seem to be budging and I know I'm doing everything right. I think it's easy for all of us to lose sight of how far we've come…

Increased protein=water retention?
I've gotten somewhat seasoned at this weight-loss thing, losing 55 pounds in the last 11 months so I'm fairly familiar that this process is not linear. With that being said, I've recently increased my protein intake in the last four days by about 30 to 40 grams. Even though I'm on my menstrual cycle I seem to be up about 3…

Muscle Milk question
I have lost 55 pounds in the last 11 months but am now focusing more on my marcos. I am having a hard time getting all my protein in on a daily basis. I'm wondering if anyone has opinions for using a protein shake to help make up this deficit. I've picked up some 11 oz bottles (20 grams protein and 140 calories each) and…

I have a "normal" BMI!!!!
As of this morning, my BMI is in the normal range. I don't think I've been in the normal range for 15 or more years... i've still got a lot of work to do, but it was definitely a boost that made me feel better. 205 to 150 in 11 months.

"Dry January" success story for 2017 campaign
I got great news yesterday. I've made numerous healthy changes over the last year and one of those included participating in a challenge called "Dry January." Simply, it's abstaining from alcohol through the month of January. (I also didn't drink in February or for the majority of March and have recently stopped again).…

50 pounds down
I recently posted in the "motivation" thread, but need to post here to remind myself I AM a success. I was having brunch with a girlfriend yesterday when I was complaining about how "fatty and ugly" my legs were (excess fat and skin) and how disgusted I was with my body unclothed. She looked at me and said, "you need to…

Dating is tough
I've online dated for years. Some good and some bad. In the last 6 months I've lost 40 pounds and gained some much needed confidence. I thought this would make dating so much easier. It hasn't. I've probably been out with 10-15 guys in the last few months. There was one I really liked a few months back, we dated a while…

40 Pounds gone in 174 days
It may not seem like much to some people...but I am beaming with pride this morning. Never in a million years did I think this was possible for me. And it wouldn't have been without the help of this site. MFP has without a doubt changed my life. And- I have some serious motovation to get to that 50 pound milestone. If I…

Happy, but a bit sad
I tried on an old swimsuit for the first time in ages today. As I've lost about 40 pounds since the beginning of the year, I anticipated it being too big, which it was. I'm super happy with my weight loss thus far, but for some reason today looking in the mirror with the bathing suit on I noticed for the first time I'm…

Hey motivation... I've lost you!
I'm really not looking specifically for advice, more just venting as it feels good to write it down and be accountable. I started on MFP at the beginning of the year and have since lost about 35 pounds. However, within the last 1.5- 2 months my heart just hasn't been in it. I was SO motivated but then I just lost it. I…

Before and half way there
I've been yo-yoing with the same 5 pounds for about the last three or 4 weeks. I know what I'm doing wrong, I'm just having a hard time changing it. Looking at these two pictures this morning has reminded me that although I still have a lot of work to do, I've come a very long ways. Getting my mojo back, starting today!!…

Great day!
Today I had a really good day. Although I'm only down about 11 pounds I'm feeling really good about the changes I've made. Although I don't really think the weight loss is that noticeable, people are reacting differently to me. I work with mostly men and today for some reason, I got random compliments (love that new hair…

Goal/Progress Jeans
I just bought a new (to me) pair of jeans from my favorite consignment shop. They are too small in the hips/stomach/butt right now but I think they'll fit once I'm down about 10-15 pounds. I'm calling them my birthday "goal" jeans. I'd love to fit into them by April 15th! Does anyone else do this or am I nuts??

5:2 diet
I've seen a few posts on the 5:2 diet/lifestyle. I'm not sure it's something I want to try, or could even do but I'm interested to get peoples thoughts. For people who don't know what it is, it is a lifestyle where you eat normal calories five days a week and two nonconsecutive days you eat approximately 500 (women) to 600…
