Edema post-surgery
Developed swollen puffy feet last night. My weight had increased after surgery from all the fluids and due to a bleed at a surgical site (not the sleeve) my hematocrit dropped so they gave me two units of blood. Read that edema was not unusual so I pushed extra fluid before bed and soaked my feet in hot water and epsom…

It's working. NSV
Two actually. Went for a walk and it was chilly so I put on a light jacket that used to be hard to fasten up. It zipped with room to spare. Then later I took my first bath since surgery. For years now the water always got dammed up by my hips and would be cold in the back of the tub. Only three weeks since surgery and the…

Surgery Tomorrow, feeling a little nervous now
I am soooo prepared. I researched this for over a year. It's finally here. I have Premier protein drinks, protein samples and a couple Isopure on hand. Syntrax Nectar samples are in the mail. Recipe ideas logged on pinterest. I have re-read my notes and instructions. Picked up my prescriptions. Got a haircut. Paid the…

It's getting REAL. Pre-op yesterday.
So it seemed like time went by so slowly but my surgery is now 10 days away! It took me about 6 months to lose 20 pounds. Finally moved down one size in pants. Timing was held up two months by discovery of sleep apnea. Had to wait for two scheduled test sessions and then wait for my machine. (Which I detest BTW). Lucky me…

Vitamix for green drinks and protein drinks
Does anyone use a Vitamix to get vegetables in? I'm thinking I could use mine with some pea protein powder and maybe almond milk to make a smoothie or green drink. That way I would be getting protein, fluids and plant based vitamins, as well as fiber. Would love to know if this worked for anyone and would appreciate recipe…

Batwings
I have flab on the back of my upper arms. I think this may be my biggest problem area post-surgery. Has anyone had good results losing or tightening this area prior to surgery? It is probably easier for men- I am female. How did you do it?

Protein shakes and Diarrhea? Sorry about the topic.
Wondering if anyone has had a sensitivity to protein drinks. I went to a Vitamin Shoppe last night where they had samples of protein powders, shakes, quest bars and vitamins. Today I have the runs. We are talking 1 ounce or so samples of about 5 protein shakes and protein waters. I will need to check the ingredients on all…

Barrett's esophagus
I have just found out I have Barrett's esophagus with no sign of dysplasia. I really want the sleeve rather than RNY. I just don't want everything rerouted and to have the stomach remnants left behind. Has anyone had successfully sleeve surgery with Barrett's esophagus. I have sent a message to my surgeon to see what his…

Confused and stewing
Two weeks ago I met for the first time with my support team (nurse and NP) The nurse asked which procedure I wanted and when I said sleeve she acted like I was insane. Her eyes widened, her mouth dropped open and she proceeded to tell me I should have RNY. When I didn't cave she called in the NP who proceeded to state…

The myplate meal plan is working !?!
I thought I wouldn't be able to follow it. I thought it made no sense to include grains and some form of dairy at every meal. I didn't have any faith in following myplate.gov for my diet. Three meals a day and no snacks. I feel like I spend half my life now thinking about food, logging food, planning meals, planning…

Choose my plate
Just began my journey and the nutritionist wants me to follow USDA choosemyplate for my pre-surgery medically supervised weight loss diet. Feeling upset at this as I have been trying to avoid most grains and breads and hate milk. And wants three meals a day with no snacks. Not what I was expecting.
