Catholic MFPs, Good Friday Fast?
I'm not sure if there are many practicing Catholics on MFP, but if there are, I was wondering what you plan to do for your Good Friday fast? Are you going to do it? Are you just going to eat your calories after sundown? On Good Friday I normally fast for the day drinking lots of water then have soup after sundown. I'll…

Cardio then Lifting or Lifting then Cardio?
I just asked my SIL if she'd be my gym buddy this summer since I'm afraid of starting at a gym by myself. I suggested warming up for 15 min on the ellipticle then doing lifting, but she said that we should do lifting first then cardio. She also suggested going for a run along the canal for our cardio, probably around 20…

Tips on increasing fiber? Discussion too, maybe?
My fiber is often only around 7-12 and I'm pretty sure that I should be getting more. MFP has my fiber goal at 17 but I only tend to be able to meet that if I go over my calories. Any tips on increasing my fiber a bit without impacting my budget too much and still tasting pretty good? Limitations: I'm allergic to ALL…

What's in YOUR home-mixed protein shake?

The protein shake that I make for myself right now is: - 1 scoop of Six Star Pro Nutrition - Professional Strength Whey Protein Plus Elite Series in the Triple Chocolate flavour - 2 Tbsp of smooth peanut…

Having trouble advancing my lifts
Alright, don't blast me for this please, I'm in week 3 of my lifting and I'm using dumbbells. I've been doing this program: http://produmbbellworkouts.com/dumbbell-routines/full-body-high-volume/. I've been using Bowflex dumbbells. I really want to advance the weights a little bit but it's hard to advance a full 5 lbs with…

Any Canadians know what type of doctor to see about knees?
I've had a knee problem for two years now and I've been to see multiple doctors about it (my regular doctor and 2 different walk-in clinic doctors) but they're not taking me seriously. They're not taking me seriously because there's nothing significant which could have caused it (no sports when it happened, no falls,…

Just started lifting and can't meet 30% protein. Advice?
So, I just completed my first week of lifting. I'm doing this dumbbell program: http://produmbbellworkouts.com/dumbbell-routines/full-body-high-volume/. I used 20lb dumbbells for most of the heavier end lifts and 10lbs minimum for anything. I'm planning to try to increase by ~5lbs a week and we'll see how that goes. At the…

Question about lifting and menstrual cycles
So, I decided to start exercising in an attempt to regulate my menstrual cycles because they used to be regular when I went to karate 3xweek and played sports but became irregular when I became lazy. I started lifting as of this week and I do a bit of cardio to help out my asthma. Female lifters, have any of you…

Looking for a Dumbell Lifting Program
I'm interested in starting lifting because I keep hearing about the benefits of lifting, but I don't want to go to the gym because it's always packed and I can never find free equipment. I bought my husband some Bowflex dumbells for Christmas and he's really loving them. He's developed a program for himself but it's a…

I'm hungry ALL of the time. I need filling suggestions!
Ugh, it's been about a month of reduced caloric intake and I'm still starving all the time. I haven't felt full and satisfied in ages and I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to be the way it is. I thought that 20+ days was enough for your body to adjust to new things, but I'm just so hungry all of the time! What healthy…

How do I figure out the calories in vitamins/supplements?
I take a lot of vitamins and supplements for various reasons (a total of 14 pills a day), but none of the bottles have calories on them and I'm sure that taking that many pills has a good number of calories in it. Any idea how to account for these? Should I average it out to 10cal/pill for a total of 140cal?
