What's in YOUR home-mixed protein shake?

I just started drinking protein shakes this week because I learned that I do not get nearly enough protein in my diet.
The protein shake that I make for myself right now is:
- 1 scoop of Six Star Pro Nutrition - Professional Strength Whey Protein Plus Elite Series in the Triple Chocolate flavour
- 2 Tbsp of smooth peanut butter
- 1.5 cups of 2% milk
I blend these together in a glass using a hand mixer. I absolutely love this shake because it tastes just like Reese's!
My husband's protein shake is:
- 2 scoops of whatever protein powder we have on hand
- 1-2 bananas
- 1 raw egg
- about 1/2 cup of frozen berries (usually just strawberries)
- 3-4 cups of 2% milk
He blends these in our blender and it makes just over 2 glasses of shake. He's kind of a vegetarian and he's lifting so that's why he uses so much protein.

I make all different kinds, depending on my mood and what kind of fruit I have on hand. Mine are pretty simple, though. I use 2 scoops of Bluebonnet Whey Protein Isolate in French Vanilla or Chocolate, along with 2 or 3 different kinds of fruit, a handful of ice cubes, and 1 cup of water. It makes roughly 36 oz.
My favorite so far is probably vanilla powder with 1 banana, 1/2 cup mango chunks, and 1/2 cup pineapple chunks.
I also like chocolate powder with 1 banana and 1/2 cup strawberries.0 -

For some reason my body does not do well with any type of protein powders and I typically do not have enough protein . My Personla Trainer suggested that I continue making my smoothies the way I like with the Greek yogurt but also add Cottage cheese to the mix. I did this and no tummy issues .
the shake I made the and had no problem digesting is the following.
1 cup strawberries|
1 cup blueberries
1 cup cooked beets
1 cup Raw kale
1/2 cup low fat plain Greek Yogurt
1/2 cup low fat Cottage cheese
1 cup Original Almond Milk
After blending I divide in 2 portions .
My trainer recomended that have two smoothies/day0 -
I always check out this website before buying any protein products - www.pro-proteinshake.com - My personal favourite is the Labrada Lean Body Hi-Protein shake because of the high protein:carb ratio.0

Mine is pretty simple:
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 Banana
1 cup spinach
The banana/spinach shake is something I had tried years ago, so when I decided to add a protein powder to my routine I knew what I wanted for a shake.0 -

Does the taste of the banana overpower the taste of the spinach? This might be a good way for me to get some more iron into my diet along with the protein. Also, is a handheld blender good enough to mix it or is a jug blender necessary (I do have both, but the handheld is so much easier to clean)?0 -
I make protein smoothies quite often and I've posted several recipes, all with spinach. I'm on my mobile now but bumping to come back with links :-)
I definitely recommend trying extracts, different frozen fruits lots of greens, and experimenting with new combinations. I've loved chocolate orange, strawberries and coconut, mango blueberry and cinnamon with pb, mocha banana and peanut butter, and loads more. Loads of great ideas floating out there. I find it lot of my inspiration in oatmeal recipes, actually lol
Have you tried adding flax meal, chia seeds, or oats to your smoothies? I hear that also quite good but I haven't tried it myself (only chia seeds but I find they get lost)
Happy blending!0 -

I'm back with recipes!
I like a HUGE and very thick milkshake consistency...
I use at least 200g total frozen fruit (blueberries, strawberries, mangoes, banana, etc) or a mix of fruit and ice, in a powerful blender
Add about 30g whey protein
Any flavourings you want - coffee, PB/peanut flour, extracts, etc
8-10oz liquid - I use 8oz almond milk plus additional water if needed
and about 70g, or two large handfuls, of baby spinach.
The consistency is awesome. I'm telling you. Don't knock it til you try it! And no greek yogurt required
Looks something like this:

My version of a mocha shake :
1/2 gallon original almond milk
4 scoops chocolate protein powder
3 tbls instant coffee (i use decaf)
mix well in a blender and freeze in 8 oz containers
I was a mocha frappe addict before i started my weight loss journey so i was very excited when i put this together and tasted it
I actually do 12oz servings and its 173 cals per serving with the brands i use.
i have one daily with lunch!
just thought i'd share but i'm sure i'm not the first to try this.

I don't do fancy things with shakes, but I do bake with protein powder. I make protein banana muffins, brownies, ice cream etc.0
