Looking for a Dumbell Lifting Program

I'm interested in starting lifting because I keep hearing about the benefits of lifting, but I don't want to go to the gym because it's always packed and I can never find free equipment. I bought my husband some Bowflex dumbells for Christmas and he's really loving them. He's developed a program for himself but it's a bulking program and I'm just looking for strength. We have a utility bench that inclines both up and down and we have the set of Bowflex dumbells; I'm looking for some sort of a program that I can follow simply utilizing these things at home. I might be able to use the gym once the summer comes because a lot of the students won't be in the city anymore, but for now I need a home workout program.

(I was interested in The New Rules of Lifting for Women, but after I downloaded the ebook I discovered that it requires having a barbell and we don't have one of those. I kind of wish we did though because I really want to try heavy lifting.)

ETA: I don't like the idea of using teeny weights so please only recommend really serious strength programs. Thanks!

I know muscleandstrength.com has a search feature. I saw a dumbbells only program when looking for a home workout. And, in a pinch, most barbell lifts can be adapted for dumbbells.

Varies, anywhere between 1-5 sets and 1-5 reps with however much rest you need inbetween sets would be ideal.

P90x, chalene extreme or body beast

each requires free weights. with p90x, you need a bit more equipment (pullup bar or resistence bands) so if you're short on equipment, body beast or CLX is better.

i did p90x and LOVED it! i got amazing muscle definition and it helped me burn those last few inches to get me to a size 2.

i'm currently doing body beast because i LOVE lifting and this program is amazing. i'm actually doing a body beast/insanity asylum/rushfit hybrid program (i lift MWF and do cardio T, Th, Sat -- usually one of asylum or rushfit workouts)

Those sound like they could be good. Are P90X or body beast available online or are they DVD programs?

I am starting the second phase of Chalene Extreme tomorrow. I am enjoying it. Would like to hear other recommendations for lifting dumbells. The gym is just not an option for me. Love the results from the weights tho!
