Hello, obese. Never thought I'd see you again.
I've always been overweight. I've always sought comfort in food. I've always wished myself skinny. I always did everything but actually TRY. Then, in November 2010, I was given a choice: lose weight or have surgery to repair debilitating gastro issues caused, in part, by years of being morbidly obese (topping the scales at…

Dessert is NOT my friend
I started using MFP in November 2010 and lost a net of 68 pounds in the process. I've managed to maintain in the 150s for a year. My problem is this: When I was actively losing weight it was a thrill to get on the scale each day and see that number get lower and lower. I had an actual reward for my good behavior and, as…

6 months, 60 pounds
2008: Weighed +/- 258lbs (who really weighs when they are that heavy?) 2010: After having lost +/- 47lbs due to pregnancy sickness & gallbladder issues after pregnancy (i.e., I put forth no "real" effort) Starting counting calories by using MFP and exercising on November 7th, 2010. I weighed 211.5 when I began this…

What Weight Loss Means For Me.
In June of 2007 I had 100 pounds to lose before I would be considered a "normal" weight. In November of 2010 I had 52 pounds to lose. TODAY, I have 18 left to lose. 18!! I love the little things - compliments, not having to step foot in Lane Bryant again, jogging without feeling like I'm going to die, not thinking about my…

OBESE
Today I am 22 pounds lighter than when I started on MFP and no longer considered "obese." Who knew one could be so happy being considered "overweight!" I am down 68 pounds from my all time heaviest weight (that I'm aware of) as well. The last 32 pounds or so seem completely do-able now :) I originally set my first goal as…

Correcting Posture
Any tips on how to correct poor posture? When I was younger I tried to hide my way developed chest and it just stuck with me. As I got heavier it got worse. On a side note....why is it that the first thing to go for ladies is your boobies? I swear all of the 10lbs I've lost so far came out of my bra :(

How to accurately record exercise without a HRM?
I walk/jog for 30-40 minutes a day, equaling two miles. While walking I walk what I consider to be very fast - meaning that it is easy to transition from my walking speed to a jog. I jog in spurts, no real rhyme or reason to it. I'm doing this outdoors so when I feel like I want to jog I'll start and then when I start to…

1200 Calories
I had one pack of oatmeal with a 1/2 tablespoon of light butter and an apple that weighs 3g. I now have 775 calories left for the day. How do people do this? Its no wonder I stay hungry every day.

So tired!
I began this journey four days ago and since then I have had no soda/caffeine and no (that I know of) sugar. Prior to Monday I drank 5-7 sodas a day and usually a cup of sugar with coffee in the morning. All week, but particularly today, I have been so sleepy! I wonder if my body is detoxing from all the sugar/caffeine? I…

Meals/Breakfast
I'm trying to stick to 1,200 calories/day. Which meal is normally your largest calorie wise? I've read that breakfast should be your biggest meal and that it should contain a lot of protein. The problem is that I don't care for eggs. Any tips will be appreciated!

Hello from Alabama!
I'm a 28-year-old wife and Mommy of two amazing little people. I've always had issues with food, particularly eating too much of all the wrong things. I'm working on holding myself accountable for the things I put into my mouth. I'm trying to stop making excuses and start researching how to live healthy. I have 60-75lbs to…
