What Weight Loss Means For Me.

In June of 2007 I had 100 pounds to lose before I would be considered a "normal" weight.

In November of 2010 I had 52 pounds to lose.

TODAY, I have 18 left to lose. 18!!

I love the little things - compliments, not having to step foot in Lane Bryant again, jogging without feeling like I'm going to die, not thinking about my next meal before I even finish with the one in front of me, etc., but the BIGGEST thing I love is learning that I'm a lot stronger than I give myself credit for. This is WORK. HARD FARKING WORK and I'm doing it day by day, hour by hour.

This is more than just weight loss for me - its accepting that I lost a huge chunk of my life being unhappy/uncomfortable/uncontrolled. Its knowing that, hopefully, my daughter won't grow up with insurmountable self-esteem issues brought on by self-medicating with food. Its knowing that maybe I'll be someone's inspiration to save thier own life from ending too soon due to weight-related illnesses.

Its knowing that once I become "normal" it doesn't end - it all really just begins.

  • Congrats on your accomplishment! You should be so proud of yourself. Most people are stronger than they know and just have to believe they're worth the time and effort to invest in themselves.

And what a great beginning it is! You have done so well. Soon you will begin the day-to-day maintenance of this precious body. Now, you have the knowledge that your weight can go down, as well as up. It will continue to fluctuate, but you will stop the upward pattern at two pounds, not at 10+. All power to you. It is a good feeling and is really good for your body. Hugs! :drinker: (water)

I am sooooooooo happy for you! You looked great the other day!!! Amazing accomplishment! You are a very strong woman an an excellent role model. Now your kids will see that you really can do anything you want if you work hard and don't quit. They will apply this to all areas of life! 18 lbs is close!!! You will get there!!! Congrats!!!

Incredibly powerful words. I don’t think anyone loses 100 pounds through diet and exercising without coming to this level of understanding, this depth. And yet it’s coming face-to-face with that knowledge that we have been running from all these years and quieting with food. YOU WILL lose those last 18 pounds. And you will walk bravely into your new life. Thank you for the inspiration!

Well done! These are some very really things. This is very inspiring.

The one thing I intend to follow through on is showing my daughter a healthy lifestyle. My mom did feed us lots of fresh veggies, we even had gardens but she also modeled poor snacking habits(ie eating way too many chips, cookies, cake) and unnecessary portion sizes. No she didn't force me to do it but when your a kid/teen learning how to live it just seeps in. She doesn't have a weight problem at all, in fact she is probably a little under what she should be for her height. She is a slow gainer and always has been but is healthy and I want to be sure she can stay that way.

I'd also like to enjoy clothes shopping. I've never enjoyed it(for me, shopping for my daughter yes) because nothing I really like fits right.
