Can black tea give you... gas?
I've ditched all soda etc. for water, and now had planned to ditch coffee for tea (I know there isn't much of a health difference but I just prefer it) however after about a week of drinking 1-2 cups of tea a day, never having drunk much of it before, I noticed that I get a lot of bloating and gas... and none of my eating…

Swimmer gals and body hair
Just as a warning, this thread will talk about body hair and removal. For all you sensitive types out there who can't stand the thought of hairy legs ;) I want to start swimming regularly, 2-3 times a week, and I was wondering how all you ladies who do that deal with leg hair. I mostly wax my legs but that always leaves me…

Writing down my goals to have smth. to hold on to
I felt like writing down my long term and short term goals, to give me something clear to work towards, not just a weekly ‘how much can I lose?’ weigh-in - which has kept me kind of de-motivated if I stall :( MAIN GOAL: Reach 62-63kg by the start of december, which is pretty low. I’d have to lose 5kg/10pounds in november,…

Is my goal weight too high?
I started my weightloss at 80kg (176pounds). Back then I set my goal weight as 65kg (143pounds). I was always told by online-calculators, diet-infos etc. that 60-65kg was a very good healthy weight for my size and age. But right now, I'm down to 67.5kg (148pounds), so I'm only 5 pounds away from my goal weight - and when I…

30DS seems to do nothing
I'm done with level 1 of the 30 Day Shred and.... nothing has changed. I haven't lost weight despite restricting calories, my measurements haven't changed, and I barely notice a difference in endurance or fitness. I wonder if it's even worth starting lvl 2 if I'm not gonna see results :(

It's the little things
This week is shaping up to be a week full of little sccuesses and good stories for me, so I felt like sharing. - I'm finally seeing results from the 30DayShred after quitting it 4 times in the past year because nothing changed - I took my measurements after about 1 1/2 months because I kept forgetting it and I lost almost…

these calorieburns are too d*mn high! ;)
I don't usually log exercise that isn't actually exercise in my eyes (e.g. if I'm walking to university I won't log that, if I go jogging I will log) I work in a kitchen 2 times a week, usuall 7-9 hours, and while it's not the most hectic kitchen in the world I still end up walking around a lot and lifting heavy things,…

Joggers! How do you carry your things?
Hello! I'm planning on picking up jogging as a regular form of exercise, but I've run (hoho) into a problem. I went jogging once with a friend and had no idea how to carry the stuff I need (keys, iPod, cellphone mainly)? I had it all in a sort of hipg bag (I think fannypack is the US word?) but it kept jumping up and down…

What to do with Easter sweets
It couldn't be helped. I told my mum and both grandmas not to get me sweets for Easter, or at the very least only get me very little. That didn't stop them of course, because what's Easter for if not for spoiling the little girl of the family with treats. So now I have a large bowl of sweets sitting on my counter and I…

Here's to one week
Here's to my first week of healthy eating within my calorie limits to one week of regular exercise that was fun to one week where I didn't binge, didn't skip a meal, or fall back into any of the other eating problems I had to one week in which I lost two pounds, which has never happened before but most importantly, here's…

Jogging daily, good for a newbie?
I have restarted my fitness journey two weeks ago, and mainly focussed on my diet. But now I want to start exercising like I should've right from the start! I've started jogging (really can't call it running yet) and I was wondering... how good/bad would it be to jog daily? Because I can't go long/far enough yet for it to…

A bowl of fruit killed my sugar intake
As a small step towards better eating, I resolved to fill a small bowl with fruit and use it as a snack instead of the usual crisps, chocolate, and leftovers I used to nibble on all the time. But when I entered the fruits into my food intake, that one little bowl already made me go over my daily recommended sugar intake.…

How to log tasting/snacks from work
Hello all, First off I want to say that I don't take my logging religiously serious, I use it more as a general measure of overall calories so I don't extremely go over my daily allowance. This approach has worked for me better than logging every single little thing I eat and getting overly obsessed. That being said, I…

Is it ok to not have a consistent workout plan?
I used to try the standard approach of having a regular schedule of what to do on which days concerning my exercise (e.g. jogging on Mo/Wed/Fri, workout at home on Tue/Thurs and so on), but I always struggled with it. Now I've started to just do 'something' every weekday, such as swimming, bycicling, jogging,…

How to log workout DVDs (e.g. 30DS and so on)
Hi! I was wondering how you all log your DVD-workouts? I'm thinking of starting up the 30 Day Shred or Ripped In 30 but since they're split up into strength, cardio and abs I don't know how to log them (I used to just log the 30 Day Shred as calisthenics or aerobics... but I don't think it's the best way to do it)

Wearing shoes for the 30DS
Hi there, I'm thinking of restarting the 30 Day Shred and was wondering if you do it with or without sports shoes? I used to do it without (I'm at home, after all! Barefoot or nothing!) but maybe it's better for grip, jumping etc. to wear your shoes... What do you think?

5-2 Diet - Your opinions
Let me start off by saying I'm not currently doing this diet, nor am I looking for advice on it. Please don't start posting things like 'This is ridiculous and you should stop it' or 'research more before you start something like this' or 'any diet is a bad idea' I simply want to start a discussion about this new diet,…

Unusual Goals and Fun Motivations
Hiya! I've been trying to think up goals for myself that are more motivating than just 'jog xyz distance'. I plan to get a bike once it gets warmer, and my ultimate fun-goal is to bike all the way from my current town to my hometown and surprise my mum! Haha, it will definitely be a daytrip (it's about 44km..) but it's a…

I am this close to giving up
I've been trying to lose weight since March. I'm 22, ~5'4'' (165cm) and started at ~176lbs (80kg). In the first two or three months, everything worked splendid (although all I did was changing my eating habits and not even exercising yet), and I lost around 15-17pounds, getting myself down to 160lbs. But ever since then...…

Staying fit and healthy on a vacation
My best friend and I are going to tour through Cornwall in September for 10 days, and I'm scared that I will fall back into the worst habits then. Since we're both students we're trying to keep it as cheap as possible - we're staying at hostels (usually no kitchen access) and can't afford restaurants often, so our meals…

Do I HAVE to eat the calories I exercised?
Hiya! I just signed up to MFP. I used a different calorie+exercise counter before. My recommended daily calorie intake was 1200cals, the same as here on MFP. However back there I never added the calories I 'won' by exercising daily. I just ate 1200cal no matter how much I exercised. I've been doing that for about 3 weeks…
