help me understand
we are given calorie targets for each day, the number that i don't know how much research has discovered is our optimum energy intake for both continued health and weight loss/gain/maintenance. so why do so many people celebrate you being 100s of calories under for the day rather than encouraging you to eat a bit more? i…

is fruit my undoing?
so i've been trying to follow the primal lifestyle since the start of the year. home cooking, no artificial sweeteners, no grains, no added sugar - those are my focus points. i cook nearly everything i eat myself now though i do buy rotisserie chicken. i have a couple squares of 72% dark chocolate every day, usually with a…

help me make it work- please!
3 months of trying this so far has resulted in a total loss of 2.4lbs. i've been eating primally but finding it hard to eat as much fat as they want, and as little fruit. so i've sat and thought about things today - had a tooth taken out yesterday so i've had plenty of time to think about what i eat while not actually…

swimming and piercings
so i accidentally got another piercing today, a microdermal on my chest. i've checked a few things online and they seem to say that while it's best to wait up to 2 months (!!!) before swimming, most people don't and are fine. i've yet to have one reject, so does anyone have any experience? i've swum pretty much straight…

tracking macros
i'm not overly concerned about most of the various macros we can track. i have the standard carbs, fat and protein and i am watching my sugar as i like to eat a lot of high sugar fruits. so that leaves me with 1 more. which would you consider more worthwhile to watch, fiber or sodium? i know both are kind of important from…

swimming help please
ok. i used to swim a heck of a lot when i was younger. synchronised swimming for 12 years to a pretty high standard and competitive live saving for several years. as a result of this, i can't judge my exertion by how hard a breathe, i don't breathe hard no matter what i do. there isn't a working clock at the pool i go to…

vitamin excesses?
are there negative effects from too many individual vitamins? i've heard the odd horror story of people who chronically over consume supplements, but they tend to be in pill form. i've gotten into the habit of eating an average of 2, sometimes up to 4 sweet red peppers a day as well as other fruit and veg. i much prefer…

logging foods
i don't know if this is a good thing or not, but i eat a whole rotisserie chicken every 2-3 days. (it's my go to boredom food at work) i log it as rotisserie chicken, but i don't know if that is going to include skin. it doesn't make it clear. should i assume it doesn't? cos i love chicken skin!!

savoury primal baking
i want to make something similar to a steak (pot) pie but i can only find pastry recipes made from coconut or almond flour. i think these will be too sweet. does anyone know of a savoury flour i can use, or if either of those flours would make a savoury tasting pastry?

kind of disgusting, but i need advice
once in a while i have a problem with gallstones and they cause me to throw up everything i've eaten in the last couple hours. i'm not getting my gall bladder removed, i prefer knowing i shouldn't have eaten whatever it was. but what i want to know is, when this happens, what do i do for tracking food? i ate things, they…

is grazing good or bad?
i posted this as a response to another topic, but i'd like to get opinions on it. is grazing good or bad? i have a whole rotisserie chicken on my desk at work, and i have bites when i want them. this chicken generally covers me from what would be breakfast til i go home at 5pm and lasts 2 work days...i also have sweet…

'6 weeks to ...' challenges
i know paleo and primal methods don't advocate long, intense workout sessions, but are these challenges ok? my aim is to work up to 100 push ups, 200 sit ups and 200 squats in the 6 weeks. you work out for maybe an hour, 3 days a week for up to 6 weeks. and if i mange to get to the target points, is it reasonable to keep…

exercising inside or outside?
i'm in central illinois and the weather here is gorgeous at the moment. as a result, i'd rather do lower impact, outdoor exercise - biking, walking, jogging etc - than the quicker burn dvds i have or gym work. should i try and do inside exercise as well, or accept the slower losses and enjoy being out in the sunshine?

Eating when it's hot outside
Does anyone else find it hard to eat normally when the weather it hot? I drink more water which is no bad thing, but i just really struggle to want food. One hot summer, I lived on Rice Krispies and peaches. Admittedly I lost plenty of weight but it was hardly a healthy way to do it. How do I make myself want to eat,…
