Hello you lovely single boys and girls! Here is my list; 1) I can eat salad with my meal every day if I want to without someone making wise cracks about rabbit food 2) I can have a pyjama weekend watching a whole series of Buffy/24/Torchwood with a limitless selection of inappropriate carbs guilt free (other than having to…

Heart Rate Monitors
Hi there fitness pals! I want to buy another heart rate monitor primarily to track calories burned. I have bought two in the past and neither of them have been reliable. Both have regularly cut out halfway through exercising and one does not work when doing strengthening/toning/stretching exercises. Does everyone have this…

Dog as running buddy
How many of you have a dog as a running buddy? Does it help or hinder you? Do you have any funny stores? I have a Viszla called Florence. She is great to run with other than when she wants to grab the lead with her mouth as I almost fall over her. I always think I must look strange running in circles while I wait for her…

Will eat and exercise well until Wednesday as at my Mum's. My Vizsla expects lots of walks while we are here! Will weigh myself when I return to my house. No point in using different scales. Have a good Monday!

Waist-hip ratio - important for health and vanity!
Hi Team Do you know your waist-hip ratio (WHR)? I'm no expert but apparently it is one of the most important measurements you can take. (See bottom of page to find out how to work it out) WHR to Help You Live Long and Prosper Research shows that people with "apple-shaped" bodies (with more weight around the waist) face…

Goals for the next 4 weeks
OK team - lets set our goals for the next 4 weeks. As they say, we need to set goals because if we are aiming for nowhere, that;'s just where we will go. Forethought: The ability of our minds to create the future Affirmation: A goal written out in a short description that when written correctly triggers an image in your…

Friday 15th - how was your day?
It's Friday morning 7.15am and I'm having my morning cup of tea, feeling confident as I know I have to report back to you later. I think most of you are in the US and dont know if you are a few hours in front of me or a few hours behind. Either way, good luck. In the mean time, what strategies do you have to stop yourself…

House work as exercise
I hope this thread will encourage some people to rethink their views. I have read a few threads recently which criticiseMFP members for adding housework (cleaning) to their cardiovascular exercise. I find this quite bizarre as my understanding is that MFP works out the number of net calories you need to eat using the…

What are your views on cheat days?
I would crack without one but it is like walking on thin ice. Mine is a Friday. I reward myself for getting through the week by having a glass of wine and and some chocolate or Haribos. Do you agree with cheat days? If not why? If so when is yours and what do you have? Are you able to have a little bit of what you fancy…

Calorie burn for strengthening exercises
MFP does not work out how many calories yo use doing situps/press ups etc. A friend of mine who is a fitiness instructure said approx 1 calorie per sit up/press up but I suspect it is different for different people otherwise mfp would do it. Is there a formula anyone uses please?

Calories burned during training
Taekwondo is not mentioned under cardiovascular exercise but martial arts is. It tells me that a 90 minute session burns 844 calories. We do approx; *20 minutes running/pressup/situps/burpees/squat thrusts, *5 mins stretching *20 mins patterns, *30 mins pad work practicing kicks, *15 mins sparring. Do you think that 844…

Sunday 17th
Had another good day today - and being part of this group inspired me to do another 90 minute taekwondo session. I managed to get my 13 year old to go with me (she hasnt gone for 6 months). Its great that kids and adults are in the same class in martial arts - and we have to call the black belt kids Mr or Mrs and their…

Saturday 16th - feeding the kids
Bit disappointed that so few members are posting as it I'd love to heat how you are getting on. After yesterday's disaster I am determined to make today a good eating/exercise day. I see that like me, many of you have children. To what extent do you and the kids eat the same food? How do you cope with the snacks they want…
