Therapeutic Fast Study
This thread is to discuss the study posted here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2495396/pdf/postmedj00315-0056.pdf I think it should be discussed as it has been going around as "proof" for stating you never enter "starvation mode". Disregarding the "starvation mode" argument, it is beneficial to analyze this…

Detailed Plateau
WARNING: Long post... sorry, but I feel I should be as detailed as possible for the best advice. So, I started July 13, 2012 and reviewed tons of information posted by some very knowledgeable people on here. I had great success. More than I ever have had. It was truly great. This is what I was doing: 1. Eating 1350…

Measuring Glasses
Long story short: Tired of using measuring cups for my drinks. Looking for cheap glasses with measurements on them in a way that does not make it look like I am drinking from a measuring cup. Any ideas? Some I found: Totally Nerd-tastic http://www.amazon.com/400ml-Beaker-Handle-Pouring-13-5oz/dp/B0043RH2HK/ref=pd_ybh_1…

Stall and Stress, your take?
I will try to keep this short and simple. Basically, I started MFP wanting to lose about 20 pounds. Lost 11 pounds smoothly 1.0 to 2.4 pounds a week, every week (high numbers I am assuming included more water weight). With no change in my calorie intake, protein intake, or exercise, I stopped suddenly. I have bounced…

Your first time?
So, to start, I am INCREDIBLY self conscious... I am the type that is always screaming "OH GOD THEY'RE ALL LOOKING AT ME" where ever I go. Tripping while walking tends to make me consider throwing myself in traffic. lol. Anyway, there are some gym lifts I want to start doing, namely squats and deadlifts. However, I keep…

Recomp questions
To begin, I started at 140, now am 130 (I am a short guy). Not only did the scale go down, inches went down as well. My goal was 0.5 to 1 pound a week of loss with eating as much protein as I possibly could (trying for 1g per pound) while going to the gym 1 to 2 times a week, lifting heavier weights. When I started…

Give Us Details
For everyone asking if anyone eats like THIS diet or THAT diet... can you detail what the diet entails, as opposed to assuming everyone here knows the ins and outs of every diet scheme invented by even the craziest human on Earth? Would be much appreciated...

Changing Your Thoughts
So, to begin, I always figured fat loss was simple but hard. Basically, eat very little and do tons of cardio to get that deficit up. Then, I joined MyFitnessPal. Boy I have learned a lot. Less cardio, more strength training, more food, more protein. Before: 1100 cals a day, 400-600 cals running a day. After: 1400 cals a…

Thanks for the Stories

Especially one's like these that tend to plague us every day and that so many people struggle with. So, thank you all for sharing, it is motivational, inspiring, and all around a great mood lifter for the whole day!

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you guys have made your own home made pizza in a healthy, low sodium way. If so, mind sharing some recipes?

Water Weight
Does anyone know of a way to adequately determine water weight loss? Currently, I TRY my best to do my weigh ins at the same day of the week each week, and making the previous day's sodium intake similar as well, but finding that a wee bit difficult to do. Would love to know if there is a way to make a reasonable guess on…

Planning Meals
Does anyone do what I do? After every meal, I log what I eat. Based on what I have left for the day in my nutrients I track, I plan my next meal. So, if I am low on protein for the day, I plan a protein heavy meal next.

BMR Energizing
Just posting a rave (Not a rant!) For years I normally ate about my BMR max, usually below it. When I'd try to lose weight (about 20lbs I want GONE, of fat) I'd drop to like 1200 or below and do tons of cardio... I ALWAYS need a nap. Usually when I get home from work, it is "nap-thirty" as I call it. Just too tired. And I…

Blog Post
I think I have compiled a lot of information that will be quite useful to many people, especially newer members. I posted it all on my blog: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/DanaDark Any feedback and/or thoughts are greatly encouraged, as I plan to use the information I have blogged in a future project, and would like it…

WTF Calories in a Good way
So, now that I do not have to spend 5 to 10 minutes per item I eat trying to figure out calories (Thanks MyFitnessPal!), I have been able to log EVERYTHING I have been eating the past several days. Before this, I had been eating in moderation and going for foods I assumed were healthy and such. So, what has the past few…

Review and Suggestions?
Hello Everyone, This is my first thread on here, as I just started this site yesterday. I am quite excited as it meets so many different habits I have and need to maintain a healthier life style. I have a desk job and am always within seconds of the internet, so I can be here a lot. I used to keep track myself via simple…
