NOT a Smooth Landing
I hit my goal of 150 in September (5-7"F) and I increased calories slowly hoping for a soft landing, I've had success insofar as I haven't gained any weight, except normal fluctuations, but my calorie swings feel wildly out of control. My MFP goal is about 1660 and I earn back about 500 from running/walking 10 miles a day.…

Finished Half Marathon
I've been training since January and today ran a half marathon. It wasn't fast, but I felt good -- and confident -- the entire way. I never could have done it 70# ago. If I can do it, you can. I had a glass of wine and a cupcake after. It's okay. I no longer strive for perfection. Good is OK.

Gardein Meatless Meatballs
I'm not a vegetarian, but I bought some of these on a whim and didn't really study the long list of ingredients. Do products such as this fit into what is considered "clean eating"? https://gardein.com/products/meatless-meatballs/

Butternut Squash
I'm not sure how I missed eating this all my life, but I tried making one for the first time a few days ago, and it's DELICIOUS. I peeled it and cut into cubes, sprinkled with a few chopped pecans, sprayed with EVOO, salt & pepper and baked at 400 for 40 minutes. If you haven't tried it roasted -- give it a whirl. Served…

Last minute prep for half marathon?
I've been building my distance and endurance for months, so I'm confident from the preparation side, but don't know what to do the day before and day of race. I'm usually fasted when I do my weekend practice runs, but suspect that's not the best strategy. What do I need for sleep, prep, food the night before? Take the day…

DeBloat for Event on Friday
I went to a reception today and ate cheese, dried fruits cured meats, nuts, seeds, olives, crackers and pita chips (3000 cals worth) My stomach is gassy and super bloated. I have a black tie event tomorrow with a very tight dress and would like my flattish belly back. Thoughts on what to eat and drink -- or avoid-- in the…

Apple Watch vs. MFP Calorie Burn
My Apple Watch consistently says I have a much larger burn than MFP. They are synced and the number of steps on both is a very close match. My exercise and steps are pretty consistent day-to-day at about 15k. Today's reading 810 Apple Watch calories vs. 450 MFP calories. I read in the help forums that MFP only reads steps…

TDEE Exercise Setting Question. Help Please.
I'm switching from MFP NEAT to Scooby TDEE at a 10% deficit to drop the last 20 pounds and to have a fixed daily calorie goal regardless of exercise. I run/walk/sprint 7-8 miles every morning and perform SL5x5 three times a week consistently. According to Apple Watch, that's about a 500 burn per day. Does "Moderate…

Yogurt Mixed with Protein Powder
I like to mix Quest Chocolate milkshake powder into Fage 0% yogurt. But it's a messy process with the one serving containers. Powder everywhere. Any reason NOT to use a large 17oz container and pre-mix it to eat over a few days? It seems like it would also mix together better if it sits for awhile. Has anyone tried this?…

Run Down with Aches and Pains
I hit my goal of 150 last week (5-7"F) but realized that it's not where I need to be. That really 130-135 is more like it. I've been at this since January with mostly clean eating, cardio and weight lifting. I'm feeling a little run down, tired and have pain in my knee and shoulder. Would you press on or take a few weeks…

Finally Purged Clothes. Whew!
This time, I did it!! I packed up everything that didn't fit -- with the exception of a few treasures -- and took the bins to GoodWill. And this time -- I left them there rather than getting nervous and bringing them back. My closet is very sparse, but I have plenty of things to get me through to my goal weight. My gym…

Success = Green Beans
Before I left to go out for drinks (2) tonight, I made a big pot of steamed green beans. Rather than the usual pizza or taco, that's what I snacked on when I got home. Score 1 in the win column.

Split Workouts Morning/Night
I'm wondering if there are any disadvantages to splitting up the SL workout between morning and evening. My gym is in my garage with no A/C and it's super hot except early morning/late evening, but I don't have time in the morning to do the entire workout. I was thinking of doing squats at 5:30 am, then doing the rest in…

"Newbie" Gains Time Frame and Expectations
Stats: F/51/5-7"/155lbs/eat average 1,400 k-cal net per day My goal for 2016 is to lose weight (62 pounds thus far of 85). My goal for 2017 is to maintain weight and build muscle (recomp). While in a deficit, I'm doing Stronglifts 5x5. I made decent load gains in the first 6 months but have subsequently stalled on…

Same Meals Every Day
I eat the exact same thing every day, which seems to hit my macros well. I know I will get bored eventually, but any major nutrional downside in the meantime? Breakfast (57c/14f/39p) = 490 calories lowfat peanut butter (1 tbs) Ezekial bread (1 slice) Orgain protein shake hard boiled egg (1) Lunch (54c/13f/26p) = 446…

Stronglifts 5x5 | Split Workouts Morn/Night
I'm wondering if there are any disadvantages to splitting up the SL workout between morning and afternoon. My gym is in my garage with no A/C and it's super hot except early morning/late evening, but I don't have time in the morning to do the entire workout. I was thinking of doing squats at 5:30 am, then doing the rest in…

Holding It Together on a Long Holiday Weekend
It's much easier for me - and I'm sure most of you -- to stay at my calorie goal during the week. I have tomorrow off, so will be 4 day weekend around people who will want to drink, eat and party away the long weekend. Mostly my husband. Two days of that is hard enough, hope to make it through 4 days without gaining. Long…

S.T.E.D.Y
After losing 50 lbs so far with 20 left to hit my goal, I thought I would memorialize what's working for me. This is for me as much as anyone, but I hope someone else finds it helpful: S- sleep 8 hours a day T- Train by lifting heavy and move a lot E- eat clean and within calories D- drink lots and lots of water Y- you…

Update on group progress?
I've been doing SL for about 3 months news, with steady, but slow progress. I find I can increase weights weekly (rather than per workout). Here's how I'm ending the year, would live to see how others are doing to set realistic goals for the upcoming months. Thanks SQ: 100 BP: 50 Rows: 70 OP: 50 DL: 100

What are your current 5x5 weights
I just started 5x5 two weeks ago. First stop Sears for fractional plates. Just wondering what is realistic by the end of the year (12 weeks)? I currently lift: Squats: 85 Bench Press: 45 Row: 50 Overhead: 40 Dead lift: 60

Shoulder Pain
Team 5x5, Has anyone else experienced a shoulder injury (rotator cuff) from lifting? If so, how long do you need to lay off to really recover? Seems like this has the potential to derail progress for quite some time.

Large Loss, but Flabby Mess
So, I've lost 50 pounds, and have done it fairly slowly, 5 lbs per month. I have 23 to go to what I think is my goal weight, but I look like a flabby mess. Especially bat wing arms and pouchy bag tummy. I was hoping to look ok in a swim suit this summer, but no dice. I've stepped up my weight training to try and tone up,…

Moving Over From Livestrong
Hi Team MFP, I have been using the Livestrong app since January and have lost 50 pounds, but it looks like MFP is a more robust tool with a better interface and better coordination using multiple devices (computer, iPad, IPhone). Is it worth going back retroactively, or just make a flash start? 23 lbs left to go.
