How to retain muscle when (temporarily) completely sedentary?
Hey dudes. I'm about three weeks into recovery from a surgery that will leave me unable to lift for the next few months. I'm not able to lift anything more than 10 pounds until at least 8 weeks and I am not even supposed to walk for any sustained length of time. I'd really like to minimize my muscle loss over the next…

So I'm getting a hysterectomy - any recovery advice or tips?
I'll be having a laparoscopic/vaginal hysterectomy (removing uterus, cervix and tubes) in the next few weeks. I'm excited to get the procedure, but I'm nervous about my recovery. My doctor has said 6-8 weeks for recovery to start light exercise, no weights for at least three months. Bummer. Also, no sex for three months.…

body fat going down, weight and inches the same
Hi all, I've been doing stronglifts for about 5 weeks now and just started incorporating a bit more cardio. I eat around 1800 calories a day which, according to my fitbit is my TDEE on rest days. My TDEE for active days is around 2100 calories. Since starting the program, I've been measuring my body fat with calipers and,…

Help! Sprained my ankle, what can I do?
So I'm pretty sure I sprained my ankle the other day doing my squats. I got distracted, wasn't paying attention to my form and rolled my ankle to the side. It's been a week and it still hurts. I was going to use this week as my rest week, but since my ankle is still hurting me, I don't think it's smart to start squats,…

question about adding weight
Hi all! I'm new to the group and to this program. I know that I'm supposed to be adding 5lbs of weight each workout, but the lightest weights my gym has are 5lbs. Does it matter if I add the 5lbs on one side of the bar, or will that throw off my balance? Thanks!

Stage 1 results - frustrated!
I've got 2 workouts left in stage one, and I'm frustrated. I haven't really seen any results at all, except weight gain. For the first 4 weeks of the program, I was following the calories listed in the book. Then I went down to the 'fat burning' calorie amount. I keep gaining weight. While I realize some of it is muscle, I…

gaining pounds and inches - frustrated
I'm almost at the end of stage 1 of NROLFW. It's a heavy lifting program, and I've been doing it for about 6 weeks. I haven't really seen any results at all, except weight gain. For the first 4 weeks of the program, I was following the calories listed in the book (2200 lifting days, 2000 non-lifting days). Then I went down…

Fitbit, TDEE and NROLFW
I'm a little confused about this. My fitbit says I burn around 1700 calories on non-workout days and around 1900 on workout days. I have set MFP up for me to eat 1900 per day, and I eat a few hundred less on non-workout days. For a cut, does that mean I should eat 15% below the fitbit numbers? Also, I have been doing…

*Waves* Hi there! I'm new to MFP and EM2WL
Hi everyone! I'm a recent convert to MFP and am really liking the site so far. Here's my story: I figure I've been on a "diet" for about 6 years. I that time, I've gained and lost the same 10 pounds in a depressing cycle. Recently, 2 of my girlfriends started the HCG diet where they are eating 500 calories a day. I gave it…
