Do people who reguarly attend fitness classes lose more weig
This question has been on my mind. Anyone know of any studies done to prove this? I was just wondering because I seem to work harder in classes than I do on my own because I want to keep up. Seems to me that it would yield faster results. Please share ideas!

Need meal plan ideas for low-sugar, low-carb, high-fiber, hi
So as I embark on my journey to drastically cut down on the sugars, I am at a loss as to what to buy at the grocery store and what to eat. I know I should switch to wheat bread and cut down on breads and pasta and sugar, but what else? I know I need to try and eat a little bit of protein at mostly every meal and also add…

Personal trainer's advice: Eat ALL exercise calories
So I went to see my personal trainer today to develop a fitness routine to target my problem areas. Not only did we do this but she also talked to me about my diet. I knew I needed to cut down on carbs and sugar (my weaknesses) but she also told me about the importance of eating exercise calories. Not just some, but all of…

Can Protein Shakes help with weight loss?
I am just wondering if protein shakes will help speed up weight loss? I was thinking about doing a meal replacement shake at lunch sometimes. I work out at the gym about 4 days a week and when I do, I almost always stay under 1200 calories. My goal is to lose 10 lbs by summer. Please let me know if a protein shake would…

Net calories
My net calories at the end of the day after logging food and exercise is around 1100-1200 (usually unless it's a cheat day). Is this good? Let me know what net calories you usually reach daily for weight loss. My goal is 1lb a week. I'm in that stage where I'm not losing due to recently joining a gym and I'm gaining muscle.

I'm a teacher- changed my fitness level from light to active
Does this sound right? I'm on my feet most of the day walking around. I am constantly walking. Changing the setting upped my calorie goal to 1270 from 1200. I always feel hungry eating just 1200.

2 Food Questions
Okay so I know that I need to aim for 1200 calories a day. It is so hard for me to feel full with just 1200. I am a teacher and I move around a lot and I already have my activity level as light. To stay at maintenance I have to eat less than 1630 calories a day. My question is, if my net calories equal less than 1630…

Anyone workout with kettlebells?
I just picked up the Danskin Now 5lb Kettlebell today at Walmart. I was going to pick up the 10 because the 5lb seemed too light but after doing a few curls with the 10 lb I thought, "nahh!" lol Anyway, I heard kettle bells burn MAD calories. Something like on average 20 calories a minute. I'm guessing that's for the…

Mini Workout My Skinny Friend Swears By
So I have this friend who is not just thin but completely and totally toned. She says all she mainly does on a daily basis is a very short 20 minute workout. The first 10 consist of cardio where she maxes out on her treadmill. The last 10 consist of her doing as many sit-ups and push-ups as she can. She said the cardio…

How to clean up my diet on a budget?
I know I have to clean up my diet. My diet consists of fast food and processed food most days. I am just so busy, always on the go, and of course I'm on a budget. My diet is also high in carbs and sugars. I just love pasta and chocolate. How in the world do I clean up my diet? Could anyone suggest a grocery list of items I…

How do you log HIIT on the elliptical?
I have been wondering this and can't seem to get an answer. I plan on doing a 15 minute HIIT workout tonight. Should I just go by the calorie burn it says on the screen? I don't know if that's accurate or not. I have a HRM but it's not reliable (strap always falls off).

Question about Polar HRM
So lately when I use my Polar HRM it always seems to slip and I feel it doesn't give me an accurate reading. For instance, I did Turbo Jam using it for 25 minutes and it said I only burned like 10 calories. I could be almost winded and my heart racing and it say my heart rate was only at 50. I can't get it to stay. Do I…

Doing HIIT at home on an elliptical
I have a question about this. I have an old elliptical and i don't know much about HIIT, only that it's intervals of intense running and walking on an elliptical, treadmill or running. How would I go about doing this just starting out and from home? Any ideas? Thanks!

Is Splenda bad for you?
I have been trying to overcome a rut lately and did some research on brain fog. I just feel like I can't focus or concentrate on anything anymore. I came across an article that stated Splenda can cause emotional problems and can somewhat cause concentration problems in people who use it regularly. I use it each day to…

Should've tried Garlic instead of Apple Cider. Yuck!
I'm trying to get rid of Candida and bought some apple cider to drink since it's supposed to kill the bad bacteria. I couldn't hardly get it down. Garlic is also supposed to help with that. I think I'd rather swallow garlic tablets than gag on disgusting apple cider. Anyone else ever try apple cider?

Vitamins for focus and concentration
I feel I always have a hard time concentrating. It takes me forever to get things done. Yes, I am a procrastinator but still this is ridiculous. I have never had this problem before. Frustrated
I'm just frustrated. I have 10lbs to lose and the scale won't budge. I'm starting to believe that I'll never reach my goal weight of 115 (I'm just 5'0). I watch what I eat, exercise almost daily and still no changes. I"ve been on here 20 days with a loss of 1lb! At least the scale is not going up, so for that I am…

Result Book
While surfing MFP today (I just love this site!) I thought of a motivating way to keep track of my results - a result journal. I'm going to take a plain notebook and decorate it with motivational quotes and then take and print out before pics of myself. I'm then going to measure and weigh myself today and log those…

Protein shake and/or Protein bar for dinner?
I know nothing about protein shakes, but I have tried protein bars. I have eaten a rather high number of calories today due to being home all day so I wanted to see if it would be wise to eat a protein bar/shake for dinner to try to keep my calories low. I never do this and don't plan to make it a habit. What do you think?

It's not "IF" it's "WHEN"
I've decided not to doubt my weight loss/fitness abilities anymore. Sure the scale hasn't moved in a few days and has even gone even after tons of calories burned and consistently staying under my calorie goal. I am convinced it's because I'm gaining muscle and maybe eating too much sodium. So I'm going to continue what…
