So as I embark on my journey to drastically cut down on the sugars, I am at a loss as to what to buy at the grocery store and what to eat. I know I should switch to wheat bread and cut down on breads and pasta and sugar, but what else? I know I need to try and eat a little bit of protein at mostly every meal and also add plenty of fruits and veggies as well. What else should I get at my next trip to the market? Please let me know your favorite meal plans or recipes for going low-carb and low-sugar! Thank you!

I buy a lot of chicken....normally whole chicken. I roast them with lots of fresh herbs/lemons and *shock* some cold butter (shove it between the skin and the meat...it really makes the meat tasty)! I then use the meat for everything from sandwiches to salads to wraps to stirfry.

I also buy a lot of spinach, broccoli and carrots.

These are my basics when I go to shopping:

    eggs
    spinach
    broccoli
    carrots
    chicken
    ground turkey
    sliced deli turkey
    sliced roast ham
tortilla wrap (wholemeal if they have them)
    tomatoes

    Good luck!

Progresso Chicken Tuscany soup. Had it for lunch today. High in fiber, tastes great, fills me up. Only thing is it has 40g of carbs.

You can google paleo/primal recipes. Also, most recipes that you like, you can tailor to what you need. For ex. if you like chicken cutlets, make it w/o the breading.

Here are the basics that I eat:

    Greek yogurt
    eggs
    turkey breast
    chicken
    fish
    lots of spinach
    lots of salad
    walnuts, almonds
    some dried cranberries
cheese (real, whole milk stuff, not "fake" cheese)
    butter
    olive oil
    berries

If you look at my diary for Mon and Tues, those are pretty typical days. Easter wknd was totally off, and today I had a dr's appt in the morning, so today is a bit off too. But that gives you an idea.

I found these GREAT tortillas, that are LOW carb, whole wheat, and absolutely yummy. They're called "Ole - High fiber, Low Carb" and I got them at Sam's Club. They taste like a normal white tortilla, but soooooo much lower in carbs (and all natural ingredients).

I am doing the same thing pretty much, The only bad thing is that it is really hard to get alot of fiber in a low carb diet... You can look at my dairy and see what I eat.. Its really kind of boring but may give you come ideas...
