Motivation? Try $$
I signed up recently with Pact thank to their new connection to MFP. Now, in addition to any other motivation, I have a cash incentive. Days that I do not log at least 3 meals on here will cost me $10. Certainly is not the right answer for everyone, but it may be the little push that someone needs. One review -…

How to log this
I am not sure how to log in the following situation: Go to bed. Sleep a few hours. Get up (middle of the night) for a few hours. Back to bed. Back up in morning and on with the day. The question is where do you log things eaten in that middle of the night, but awake zone? The choices are: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert…

How to lighten the recipe??
I have a favorite recipe I want to lighten up. Most of it I can do with no trouble. The sauce, however, is another matter. The original: 3 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 cup heavy cream 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese I'm not sure how to make this still come out rich & creamy and not use the heavy…

Old WW recipe: hotdogs & cabbage
This ended up in my Facebook this morning. Unusual presentation by today's standards. Even more unusual to see WW using hotdogs. Stranger still - it comes in around 335-350cal per serving. http://www.weightwatchers.com/food/rcp/RecipePage.aspx?recipeid=337391 Take aways? Be creative with your food & presentation. Don't…

Flex vs Jawbone
I saw a nice side-by-side comparison of the Fitbit Flex band and the Jawbone Up. I thought I would share it here for others who may be considering getting either one of them. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/fitbit-flex-vs-jawbone-up-a-comparative-review/

Ladies - the topic we all dread
Are any of you doing any sort of swimming or water aerobics? Please share with me your thoughts about what to wear. Many women are not comfortable in a bathing suit - at 300+ it is even more so. What do you do? Where one anyway, have a shirt/shorts set?

NSV - The day I wasn't sure would get here *is* here
When I started this journey, I decided on a charm bracelet as a way to have constant, visual reminders of my progress. I use it as my ticker for my MFP buddies can see at a glance how I am (or not) progressing. It helps keep me accountable. While I am not at all sure I have earned every one (last 13 pounds lost in under a…

When a muffin is not a muffin
One of my friends had Taco "muffins" in her diary. I have never heard of them, but they sounded good, so I hunted them down. I'm sure that to some people this is old news - but I figure if it was new to me, there are others who haven't yet heard either! LOL I found a site with a bunch of different things made in muffin…

Oops...forgot something kinda important
At home I live in sweat pants, away from home I'm in slacks or jeans (zip fly, non-elastic). The other day I was being very distracted on my way to the bathroom and without even thinking just slid my pants down...yeah, the zippered ones! I think I will soon be looking at new pants :) or at least a belt.

ISO Virtual partners for virtual walk across country
Today is December 1st. A good day to start something new! I found a website where I can (virtually) walk across the country. http://exercise.lbl.gov/user/userHome.html I react best to visual results, so for me this sounds pretty intriguing. If this sounds interesting, but you are concerned that it might be too ambitious -…

I'm sure that many of you already found this - but I just stumbled across a wonderful tool for those restaurant or fast food meals: http://www.nutritionix.com/ It doesn't have everywhere, but it does have over 300 major chains. You can customize everything to get the real count for your specific order. All I need now is an…

Defining Failure
I have seen a lot of people recently talking about how they have failed. I thought maybe as a community we could come together and redefine Failure. Here are a few of the quotes that help remind me to redefine Failure. Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently. Henry Ford Failure is…

I'm sure there are lots of people, but I can only single out those from my news feed: * kraftyrose * kittenbobitten * wimeezer It is because of people like them that I made the…

What's the Plan?
I saw Savage post this in another thread today I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone's game plan looks like. My plan has slightly more rules than Savage : 1) log *every* bite - no exceptions 2) Daily calories = under goal minimum 6 of 7 days 3) Weekly calories = under goal (*always*) I know that this way…

Totally OT - a PSA
Pardon me getting on my soapbox and getting all serious for a moment. There was a story on the news today about a problem I have been trying to raise awareness of for years now. This is one of those problems that no one believes is real...until it happens to them. Here is the link:…

ELI5 this one (diet restrictions)
I have a friend. At various times they said they "eat clean" and that they are "vegan". They also have been on any number of trendy diet regimes: cleanse, gluten free, etc. I'm ok with that...not for me, but I understand others have different opinions. Where I got lost was when the friend told me plans for this weekend…
