C25K questions
I started C25K again, W1D1, and I can't make it past 3 intervals. I tried two weeks ago and that's as far as I made it, so I started walking on a treadmill. I have worked up to 30 mins @ about 3.8 mph, walking over 2 miles in that time. I figured that I needed to work on stamina and endurance before trying C25K again.…

People, please, I'm begging you...
When you post a question in a MFP forum and ask for some suggestions or input, PLEASE give us a little bit of personal info. The answer to the question "Am I getting enough calories?" can vary widely, depending on your sex, age, activity level, current weight, etc. Let us know a little bit about you so we can give you the…

Is it possible to bite off too much, too soon?
I have been logging my food for about 5 weeks now and have seen positive results. I added light exercise (20-30 min walks with a new puppy) about 2 weeks ago. Two days ago, I joined Anytime Fitness and have used the treadmill daily since then, 35 mins @ 3.5mph, 2 miles each day. (see…

My first day at the gym
Today I was planning on going to the HS track to do W1D1 of C25K, but it was windy and I had the chills. I forgot my windbreaker and didn't want to be miserable and cold on the track. But I didn't want to wimp out either. Earlier this year, a Anytime Fitness Center/Gym opened up here in town and I have been considering…

jumping rope...
Other than the obvious cardio benefits, does jumping rope provide any strength training benefits?

Sweets in the office
When there are sweets in the office, I find that I really don't want that doughnut, coffeecake or pastry. And I'm not denying myself or depriving myself of something I "really like" or "really want". Because the truth is, the longer a stay away from sweets, etc, the less I want them. That stuff just doens't appeal to me…

Lifting gurus - I have a question
I'm a 50yo female, current weight 224, 5'4". I started the C25K this week, so I have a moderate exercise program in place, I walk on the "off days". I am interested in doing strength training, but I think I need to get to about 180-190 lbs to do that. I think I need to focus on some major weight loss before I add strength…

My inspiration belt
So, I have this old belt, old b/c I don't need to wear a belt with my stretch, pull-up fat pants. I bought a pair of zippered jeans (JustMySize, size 20W), and got out the old belt. It has double grommetted holes about an inch apart for the length of the belt. I took a Sharpie pen and wrote down today's date on the hole I…

Attention: Dog runners
Good morning. I have a 7wk old Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) puppy and I am leash training her. I know she will be a great fitness partner once both she and I get our acts together. I'm starting C25K and she is figuring out the leash. Any guidelines about what to expect from her, how long it will take until she can do C25K…

My important threads - PRIVATE
Actually not that private - just wanted a place where I can collect all the informational threads I want to refer back to. Any ideas how to log my C25K sessions? I have just taken the overall average mph of both walk & run intervals and use that.

C25K without phone app?
I don't have a smart phone, so I can't use a training app. For those of use who are technologically stunted, any suggestions about the best way to do C25K the "old fashioned" way? Stop watch? Count paces? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Good "extra calorie" ideas
Good Morning! So far I have lost 12 lbs - from 232 to 220 this morning - since January. I started out with 1200 cals/day, then upped it to 1300. Now I'm thinking I should up it to 1500 or 1600 since I am starting C25K. I am 50yo, 5'4" and fairly sedentary (office/desk job). My appetite has adjusted to my food intake, I'm…

Husband won't support me
To my MFP friends - I need your support. After hearing countless empty promises to lose weight, my husband has absolutely lost faith in me and my fitness journey. He outright told me this morning that he doesn't believe I will lose weight and wants absolutely nothing to do with my "diet" and doesn't want to hear about it…

do you self measure?
Or have someone measure you? I'm sure having someone else measure you will give a more accurate result, but I know my husband won't want to measure me. He has heard my empty promises of weight loss for years now and won't believe it until he sees it. Maybe once he sees some progress, he will be willing to help with the…

Simple question, but need the answer
Is BMI (Body Mass Index) the same as BF% (Body Fat Percentage)? I see the two terms and although I assume they mean one and the same, I want to be sure. You know what happens when you "assume". Thanks.

C25K anyone?
I am new to MFP, an active daily member since 02/04/13. I am 50yo, 5'4" and today weighed in at 221 (starting weight in Dec 2012 was 232). I am losing weight w/ 1300 cal/day, but have yet to start a regular, consistent exercise plan. I want to start a C25K program and have started researching on the internet. I haven't…

RANT - need a smart *kitten* response = please help
I answer the phones at my job. My biggest pet peeve is these jack-wads who see a phone number on their caller ID, don't recognize the number, and since no message is left, feel compelled to call the number to see how called them. The convo goes something like this> Me: Good afternoon, ABC Company, how may I help you? JW:…

Non-exercise activities & calories burned
I have spent this morning gathering up the twigs and branches that have fallen out of the oak and pecan trees in the back yard, carrying/dragging them to the fire pit, using loppers to cut them down to manageable size to burn. Definitely more activity than more normal work week desk job. That type of activity is not…

what's best - canned tuna, salmon or mackerel?
Yeah, Lenten season, so it's fish for Fridays. I get burned out on canned tuna b/c I really don't like tuna. Are canned salmon or mackerel better alternatives for salads & sandwiches?
