I'm just wondering.. Is there a way to send friend requests through the app? Or can that only be done through the website? TAI, Callie

My weight loss secret...
A good dog. Yeah, that's right. A dog. Five years ago (Jan 2013) I weighed 232lbs. I was also looking for a new dog as my Rottie passed away in December 2012. I was researching breeds and came across the Australian Cattle Dog (ACD or blue heeler). Sounded like a good match for me, but wow - the dog requires lots of…

That one word
that gives you fits to spell. Mine is awkward. Or is is akward? ackward maybe? The more I try to "correct" my spelling, the worse it gets.

WEIGHT ON DRIVERS LICENSE...
Tomorrow I have to renew my drivers license - new picture - the whole shooting match. I'm fulling out my renewal application online. It is asking for my weight. Do I give them my current weight - 195, my goal weight - 160 or my "ultimate" goal weight of 148?

Diet break??
I have been a member of MFP since late 2012. Just recently, I have started to see more and more references to a "diet break". Can someone explain this to me? I don't recall anything in the forums prior to the last 6-8months or so. Is this a new "thing", or just not so prevalent in the past? Thanks,

Heat exhaustion worries
Ok, I finally got back on my bicycle on a consistent basis (2x/wk). I am now up to 10 mile rides at 12-14mph. That's the good news. The bad news is that everyone (ok, my husband and co-workers) are worried about me riding the the heat of late afternoon in Texas. I'm riding in 95+ degree temperatures. I assure them that I…

Successful weight loss and doubts...
I weighed 204.8lbs on the morning of May 1. This morning I weighed in at 197.0lbs. That's almost 8lbs in less than a month. I have been on MFP since 2013 and lost 58lbs by mid 2014. Then, in 2015, due to injury, surgery, recovery and apathy, I started to gain back about 1/2 of that. I have been hovering between 200-210 for…

The Great Cycle Challenge
https://greatcyclechallenge.com I got this in my personal email and thought there might be some interest here on MFP. This is a fundraiser for Kid's Cancer, so if it is not allowed per MFP TOS and ROR, please delete.

Take away, take out or to go
When I joined MFP, I read so many questions about "take away" food. It took me a while to figure out it is restaurant food you take home to eat. Here in Texas, we call that "to-go". i.e. Ya wanna get some Tex-Mex to go? Where are you from and what do you call it when you don't do the cooking?

Coffe and Potassium
Coffee and potassium - who knew?? Since I have upped my workouts, I started tracking my potassium intake today. I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that my morning coffee (12 oz) has 174g of potassium. Yay! I got more potassium this morning in my 2 cups of coffee than I did in my post-walk banana!

Ladies - show me your 50-60 yr young awesome hardbodies!
I'm 55yo and am getting back into weight training. I know I will never look like a 20-something bikini model. I would like to see examples of what I could look like, given the right determination, discipline and effort. I don't really need "motivation" or "inspiration" per se. Rather I just need examples of realistic…

Workout/napping routine
Does this happen to anyone else, or is it just me? I'm 55yo, about 50lbs overweight and I really enjoy my exercise in the form of walking, hiking, road cycling and the occasional session with heavy lifting (really need to amp up the lifting though). I walk 2-3miles daily, try to cycle 5-10miles 2-3x a week. And I really…

Virtual walk - The Way of St James - "Camino de Santiago"
I am contemplating a virtual walk of the Camino de Santiago, the Way of St. James. The Way of St. James or St. James' Way is the pilgrimage route to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the apostle Saint James are buried. I became aware of this…

magazine recomendations
I know this is kinda a weird request for this group, but I thought I could find some good suggestions from all of your health/fitness conscious peoples... My son is 19 (20 in December) and newly into lifting. He got really into it when he joined the Air Force last year. Apparently there isn't much to do on base but his…

good men's fitness magazines
My son is 19 (20 in December) and newly into lifting. He got really into it when he joined the Air Force last year. Apparently there isn't much to do on base but his technical job and gym time. I would like to send him a magazine subscription or two for men's health and fitness publications. But a good publication - no…

Cize by BeachBody
I got suckered into watching the infomercial this morning (my coffee hadn't kicked it yet, and my BS detector wasn't at full power). This is the FIRST DVD workout program that I have EVER been slightly interested in. I walk (20m/week) and cycle for cardio, but since my gym is no longer part of my work-sponsored wellness…

Cooking chicken breasts in bulk
I have been buying chicken breasts in bulk, cooking them, then adding the chicken breast meat to meals throughout the week - throw some on a salad, with some pasta, make chicken salad, etc, etc. I usually bake or pan fried in an electric skillet. It's ok, nothing to write home about taste wise. Basically, it does the…

Retail Sales job and Fitbit steps
I posted this yesterday in the FitBit group, but no responses, so I'm gonna try again here.... I recently (early February) took a part-time retail sales job (in addition to my FT desk job). Prior to this, I would walk most evenings 2-3miles, logging an average of 13000 steps/day. I don't have FitBit synced with MFP and…

Retail sales job & logging steps
I recently (early February) took a part-time retail sales job (in addition to my FT desk job). Prior to this, I would walk most evenings 2-3miles, logging an average of 13000 steps/day. I don't have FitBit synced with MFP and only manually log my exercise calorie burn (i.e. calories burned during an intentional walk,…

How skinny people stay skinny - link to article
http://www.chron.com/news/article/How-skinny-people-stay-skinny-6845737.php TL;DR... The study's co-author, Brian Wansink, said that rather than sticking with a restrictive diet, registrants had "simple practices" they employed to stay healthy. Many of the habits include common sense things that most people know to do: eat…

Knee/leg pain - please help
Hoping to get some advice/suggestions here... Stats: 53yo, 5'4" female, 198lbs. I have lost 50lbs since joining MFP, re-gained about 20 as a result of decreased activity due to knee (arthroscopy for torn meniscus) in May 2015. I am still in need of a knee-replacement, but hope to put that off for another couple of years. I…

Meal Preppers - your strategies/tips needed
I have my usual "go-to" breakfast (1 cup cottage cheese w/ fruit) that I can easily prep for work-week breakfasts. I am ready to up the ante and prep my work day lunches. I have been roasting several pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts on the weekend and eating chicken throughout the week. I'm not one who needs…

OT - need hotel recommendations - San Antonio TX
Not for banging or clandestine sexual adventures. My son graduates from USAF BMT this weekend at Lackland AFB in San Antonio. I'm looking for a cheap (less than $70-$80, preferably less), clean hotel from tonight and tomorrow night. I don't care about amenities, I'm just looking for a bed and a bathroom, but don't want to…

Michele's Log it to lose it - Round 3 - August
SW - 195.4 - 06/20/15 CW - 191.0 4.40 lbs lost in 44 days - avg weight loss =1lb/10days The interesting thing is that is where I was during my "prime weight loss" of early mid 2014. I think I'M BACKKKKK. I am finding that the more I log my food and exercise, the easier it gets (duh!) and I'm much more proactive with my…

Michele's AHA (or log it to lose it) Round 2 - redux
I have slacked off with the logging the last several days, but my activity has increased. I have been to the gym for 30+min cardio (recumbent bike) Monday, Tuesday and last evening. My goal is to get a 300cal burn to augment my 1300 daily cals to give me a very workable 1600cals/day. I'm kinda bummed about my gym right now…

Explain "steady state cardio" please
I see many threads regarding HRM's and understand that HRM's are designed for steady state cardio, such as running, walking, cycling, etc. Not so much for housework and and say, push mowing the lawn. But how is walking, albeit slow, while pushing a lawn mower across my large 3 acre lot any difference from walking up and…

Visco-supplementation (rooster comb) injections
I had knee arthroscopy to remove/clean up a torn menicus 8 weeks ago and started visco-supplementation injections last Tuesday (07/07/15). I has my 2nd of 3 injections this past Tuesday. I have experienced some discomfort in the injection spot, kinda a full, swollen, achy feeling, after each injection lasting 2-3 days.…
