Michele's Accountability Thread
Just a recap of the last couple of days - I like this format of a single accountability thread for the duration of the challenge, but feel free to use the daily thread if you prefer that format... Day 1 - Saturday 06/20/15 Current weight - 195.4lbs Daily Calorie Goal - 1310, based on 1lb/wk loss, sedentary activity level…

Due to popular demand...
the 10 day challenge will be extended indefinitely.

How this works
Just report in each day whether or not you logged AHA; maintaining your calorie goal isn't a focus, but feel free to post your under/over. The focus is to get back into the habit of logging EVERYTHING. Also feel free to add your activity, OGT, RAWR, or any other stuff you want to add. Pretty simple cuz I don't like lots of…

Day 2 - Sunday 06/21/15
I, Callie Michele, logged all my food and drink accurately and honestly and was over my calorie goal (1711 cals; +404cals). Under maintenance, so it's all good.

workout "headgear" > earbuds, headphones, what??
What do you use when working out (gym, lifting, cardio, running, cycling) to listen to your playlist? I usually just use a pair of earbuds when I walk or run, but recently I started cycling and the earbuds wires bother me, esp when I use a bike-mounted phone holder. I have been looking into getting either a wireless sport…

Knee Arthroscopy recovery
I don't know where to put this, but since it relates to returning to activity and exercise, I figure I would post here... I think a knee arthroscopy is in my near future (January at the earliest). I have an appointment with an Ortho doctor on Thursday, and I know he will address my concerns then, but I'm anxious to know…

I've lost an elephants heart...
I've lost an elephants heart (44lbs). What about you? BTW, I haven't seen this around for a while. Thought some Friday fun might be in order.... 1 pound = a Guinea Pig 1.5 pounds = a dozen Krispy Kreme glazed donuts 2 pounds = a rack of baby back ribs 3 pounds = an average human brain 4 pounds = an ostrich egg 5 pounds = a…

attn: cyclists
I'm a cycling novice (don't know a damn thing about cycling), but I got myself committed to a 2-day, 150mile ride in April. Can someone give the links to any cycling groups on MFP since the powers that be thought it would be great to disable the "search groups" function as part of the upgrade. Thanks

advice needed
I need advice from my running friends. I have been blessed with a wonky left knee (right knee is great) and have been "treating" it with brisk walking, leg curls, extensions & other strengthening exercises and Ostiobyflex. I just completed Week 4 of C25K and have a run scheduled for Oct 18. My knee is starting to fuss…

Walk @ 4mph, run @ 3.5mph???
Walking has been my primary exercise for the last year or so. I now walk at @4mph, 2% incline for 4-6miles 3x/wk. This week I started C25K (for the umpteenth time), but I've lost enough weight for running to be comfortable now. I find that although I can walk at a good 4mph clip, I have to reduce the treadmill speed to…

Did he think I was hitting on him??
When I was at the gym this morning, I saw the same guy I see every M-W-F. He is one of the very few people in the gym at 5:30-6:00am. Between sets of leg extensions, I caught his eye and he came over. I stuck my hand out and said “Hi, I see you every morning and just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Callie.” He…

hot weather & swollen ankles/feet
Lately I have been experiencing swollen ankles and feet esp upon wakening in the mornings; I am relatively sure this is just a result of the higher temps & humidity we have been getting. I am currently taking a low dose medication for hypertension that contains a mild diuretic but I still get that swollen feeling. I drink…

Need suggestions - weight training program for 17yo son
My son is visiting me this week and has been going to the gym with me. He is "track-star" build, 5'9", and lean. He wants to gain muscle in for his upcoming lacrosse season. When he is in the gym, he drifts from machine to machine, from bench to dumbbells to barbells - with no real direction or purpose. I recognize as not…

New (again), but not really
So, I have been a member of MFP for about 2 years now and a member of this group for about 1 year. But I have never been able (re: willing) to put any consistency into my SL program. I am so comfortable with my cardio (brisk walking) for exercise and weight loss, I am having difficulty switching gears to more strength…

Birthday progress w/ pics
06/10/14 Today is my 52nd birthday. And my 492nd day of daily MFP logging. This has been one helluva year and I want to share it with you. Many people refer to their weight loss/fitness experience as a “journey”. To me, a journey is traveling from one place to another, with a definite starting point and a pre-determined…

Physique or Strength??
What is your motivation for lifting? I want to be strong as hell. A better looking body = bonus points.

Rude stuff people say...

Arrgggh! Warning, this is a rant!
Once again I go meet with a potential trainer, tell them I want to get good form advice for SL5x5, the next thing I know, she is telling me that I will get better results doing 4x20 at lower weights w/ 2-3 day splits and all that mumbo jumbo. Am I crazy??? At this point I don't want a complicated program (who knows, that…

Exercising concessions due to the heat
Yesterday I went on my regular Saturday morning 6+mile hike and definitely felt the efforts of Texas heat and humidity. I had to cut the hike short by 1.5miles because I was feeling more fatigued than usual. ETA: I can easily do the hike in cooler temperatures. I also am concerned for my workout partner, my 16mo heeler…
