Gym quetion
Is there any kind of unwritten rule about taking a bar from the bench and using it for a deadlift??? My gym doesn't have a specific place/bar for deadlifts and I've been using dumbells, but I'm getting stronger (yay!) and am feeling like I'm going to rip my arms off with the 40lb dumbells... I think it would be easier to…

Feeling like I fell off the wagon lately! I came home from vacation just over a week ago and I have not been logging or exercising the way I was before I left! I need to jump back on track! I'm finding it more difficult now than before to get re-motivated... Any help or suggestions?

expected weight gain w/weight training???
I understand that the scale may not move in the beginning of a new strength program... but what amount of weight gain in "normal"? I started NROLFW one week ago and I am up about 4lbs... Is this what I should expect? And when will the scale go the other way??? I am taking measurments as well, but the scale thing is driving…

How many cals on lifing days?
Tomorrow will be my first day staring the NROLFW and I am trying to preplan my food for the day... According to the book I should be eating around 2400 cals on lifting days... I am feeling like this is kinda high... Can I get some thoughts for others? My TDEE is 2300-2600 (depeding on my work schedule), is this enough of a…

fiance lashing out?
Wonder if anyone could provide some insight for me... My fiance has been acting unusual the past week or so. Last week he was out for 14 hours before stumbling in at 445AM... when I called him out on it, he didn't have much to say just that he was with the boys talking football.... I was pissed and we had a rough week b/c…

new to this, have some questions...
So, I've read the book and want to get started on this, but I need a few things answered first... Stage one is supposed to be 6 weeks long, right? So, why then, does the log sheet only have labels for workouts 1-4? Am I looking at this wrong? I understand the alternating between A and B (A,B,A. B, A, B) , but I am not sure…

What's the most difficult part of level 1 for you?
For me it's those damn side lean things, the ones where you have to lift your arms up to eye level with your hand weights! Yesterday (day 3) was the first time I made it through w/o needing to stop for a break!!! I am using 5lb weights... Now I'm thinking I should have gotten the 3lb ones!

Injury?
I worried I may have really hurt myself... I just completed week 1 last Wed, since then my knees are totally jacked up. Even (almost) a week later they are killing, in the same spot on both knees. So I guess I want to know if anyone else has experienced this... if so does it go away? Do I train through it? Wait? or just…

NEW to this running thing...
So I just started C25K about a week and a half ago... It's really hard for me to get 3 runs in a week, that's a whole different issue though. I wanted to ask if anyone actually gained weight after initially starting the program? I am up almost 1lb since starting all this. While my eating habits were not the best, they were…

ladies who lift...
What is the best way to get started with a strength training program??? I just started running (c25k) and am almost done with 30 Day Shred... I am reading The New Rules of Lifting for Women. Is it best to start with the recommendations/workouts in the book? Get a trainer? A different program??? I am kind of at a loss right…

F U level 2
Just did L2D1. Almost died. It sucked. I hate every part of it. Plank twist things suck! The little squats while lifting the weights up in a V shape REALLY suck. The good thing is, I remember feeling this way about Level 1 too, so there is hope for me!!! I'll be back at tomorrow, hating every second of Jillian and her "two…

ONEderland, finally!
As the sclaes have crept down, futher and further, today is the day I have been waiting for! I weighed in at 199.6. I have not weighed below 200lbs for most of my adult life and now I can finally say I am under 200lbs. I am so proud of myself and know that I can actually do this! I have just over 19lbs to go until I reach…

Dinner sucks
So, here is my problem... I have done so well during the day, breakfast, lunch and snacks are awesome! They are healthy and filling! The issue I am having is at dinner, I feel like by the time I get home and get everything situated (my child!) I am ready to give in. Today for example I did great! My cals are at 1800, I had…

So if I decided to do level 1 twice a day would it still be considered day 1 or day 2 when I am done??? Has anyone done this? I completed day 5 today and I am feeling a little bored... Like maybe I should go to level 2... Any suggestions?

30ds...modified jumping jacks...
So I just bought the 30 day shred dvd and decided to preview it tonight... I know Jillian says there is no modified jumping jacks, BUT I live in an apartment with a couple of crab *kitten* people below us... Does anyone have suggestions for what I could do instead of jumping jack (and the butt kick things too) just so I…

help me run!
Ok, so I need some advice.... I just started this process about a month ago. I've been doing what I can to work out at home (fitness blender videos, pilates, yoga) but I would really like to run. I have no idea how to start the process though. I have access to a treadmill, but honestly, I'm kind of hesitant to use it, just…

How do you avoid/stay away from "bad" food???
Working in health care, I am usually stapped for time or lucky if I get to actually sit down to eat... Patients, vendors and staff all bring in sugary sweet stuff, especially this time of year. I managed to avoid the box of donuts eye balling me last weekend, but I now there will be more and more and more, how do you all…

new here, Hello!
So this is my first week on here... so far so good. Seem to be doing well with my food, but it's the exercise part of it that I'm slacking on. I have tried dieting/losing weight before and it seems like I do really well in the beginning, but then I revert back to horrible eating habits and give up. A lot of it has to do…
