Using a Garmin Forerunner overseas
I head out on Saturday for a couple weeks in Seoul. I've read elsewhere that I need to download international software before I'll be able to use it, but I was curious if anyone else has any experience using a Garmin that was bought in the States for running abroad?

A whole bunch of dill
So the organic veggie service I use delivered the box on Wednesday. It's usually a grab bag of whatever they have their hands on at the time, which is fine by me, I like food adventures. In the box was a big bunch of dill. Hmmm... So other than dill-rubbed salmon or making some tzatziki sauce, anyone got any good ideas?

Arctic Zero Frozen Desserts
OK, anyone who knows me IRL knows I am a *kitten* for ice cream. I'll do just about anything for it. Anyone who's on my friends list knows that there's ice cream on my "evening snack" just about every day. Every. Day. So today I'm perusing the frozen desserts at the grocery store, picked up a couple whole fruit sorbets…

Runner's World Soft Ginger Cookies
For those who don't read Runner's World -- http://www.runnersworld.com/recipes/soft-ginger-cookies Made these to bring to work tomorrow (last day before the holiday of a month-long "Festival of the Fat." Seriously, that's what they call the month between Turkey Day and Christmas). I ended up getting 45 cookies out of 1…

So I came to a mildly sad conclusion today
I need to pick a new favorite pokemon. Wait....wut? Snorlax is my favorite pokemon. When I chose him as my favorite, it was because he embodied everything that was me. From the pokemon wiki: Snorlax spend the majority of their time sleeping, surviving on their stored fat. Many Snorlax only awaken once a month, spending…

9/15 USAF Marathon Weekend Roll Call
I'm in for the half-marathon next weekend. Bib #10064. Shooting to beat my 1:54 PR. Who else is running around Wright-Patterson AFB next weekend?

Distance Runners - recommendations on a hydration belt?
Specifically one that I can take on my LSD's on Saturday mornings (most events have enough water stations set up that I don't carry water with me during the actual race). I currently own a Camelbak Delany Plus. I've had it for a while and my love/hate relationship with it has swung into full-bore hate mode again. I like…

My NSV - Blood test results
As part of my company's wellness program's Fitness Camp we're now required to get before and after blood work. There's a new guy in charge of a lot of the benefits programs and he's "not convinced this is something the Company should sponsor." (Keep in mind, I still pay $30 for the 12-week session, the coaches are…

So I guess I'm officially a distance runner now
Yesterday I completed my very first half-marathon. Yep, I was one of the 5% of the field with mixed chromosomes running with almost 19,000 of my closest friends at Disney's Princess Half-Marathon. If you would have told me a year ago I'd have finished a half marathon, I would have laughed at you. And if you would have told…

My Before and After (and where I'm going)
Early in July I posted a "one year difference" post with photos from the July 4 5k in 2010 and 2011. I tried to find, my search skillz are poor, so no link to that post for you :ohwell: But ....BUT! I had the opportunity to get another before/after photo and decided to take advantage of it. This past weekend we (me, the…

Two NSV's
Lunch meeting at work yesterday with assigned seats (team building, yay :indifferent:). I get overly salty catered lunch, find my seat and sit down. One of the other guys at the meeting, whom I hadn't seen in about 6 or 7 months, sits at the table next to mine. I'm munching on my Sodexo and he's just staring at me. Finally…

Found some old pictures, absolutely disgusted
(Posted this on another forum, figured I'd share here, too) August 2008. The picture that pseudo-started it. Me @ 340 pounds, fooling myself with the "well, I'm not that fat..." attitude. Uh...yeah I was. Flash forward 2 years (there's not that many pictures of me. Really...). After 2 years of only half-serious dieting…

My NSV
My company's HR department has a Wellness group that encourages our employees to get into shape. One of the things they sponsor is a once-a-week fitness camp, held Wednesdays after work at one of the campuses in town. This week we did one of my favorite workouts (as a matter of fact, I had almost begged for this workout).…
