Thank you for tickling my engineer nerdiness. To echo @Jthanmyfitnesspal - Power (kW) = Torque (N*m) x Speed (RPM) / 9.5488 Torque (N*m) = Push force (N) * crank arm (m) For all other variables held constant, the shorter crank arm setting will under report your power estimates for your ride. But, like jthan said, it's a…

I use my garmin for running, sync to Garmin Connect which pushes to Strava. On the rare occassion I forget to charge my Garmin I just record live in Strava. Strava ... it's like Facebook, but for runners :D

43 years old, BMI 26, RHR in the mid-40's per my Garmin and its green light magic. At one point I was down another 20-25 pounds from where I am now and my RHR was in the 38-40 range, albeit I was eating a little less-un-healthy than I am now and was running 30+ miles per week (my running has fallen off to ~20 miles per…

Finally time to jump back into this thread! Tryptophan Half Marathon, Thursday morning. Weather looks to be clearing in the northeast-of-Atlanta hills, should be low- to mid-40's and clear at gun time. Course is mostly flat along the Big Creek Greenway. Excited and nervous at the same time. I can't be the only one earning…

That's why I skipped to the end. :D I'm not going to read back thru 9 pages, so if this was asked already ... whatever. Is it an actual door with a handle and hinges? Or is it just a really bad drywall repair job?

I would counter all of this with the thought that it sounds like your husband might be pretty damn fit. If the other indicators of health (blood pressure, resting heart rate, cholesterol, etc.) are good and he's capable of the activity load that you're indicating... ...maybe weight's just a number and isn't the end all be…

It's really good for cutting off slices of finger tips and knuckles. Worst cuts I've ever had were on the friggin' mandoline. Be sure to use your hand guard.

Oh, no! I always looked forward to reading his race accolades.

I would go walk in to the doctor's office and ask for the script (and then ask why they haven't been returning calls or emails). I doubt the office's behavior will change before that happens. Also, if you were referred to that doctor by someone, be it the emergency room or your primary care or your insurance company, I…

I remember one time my wife brought home some ice cream cones. Either Nutty Buddy or something (can't remember which), full sized. She was so proud, "Look, only 130 calories!" From fat. That was calories from fat. 350 calories total. :( Ended up being OK, it just ate into my exercise buffer, but it was seriously…

I wasn't all that sore, was eating "real foods" (i.e. not mashed potatoes or other mushy, soft stuff) within just a couple days. Much like another poster, my upper wisdom teeth had impacted in my sinuses and the relief thereafter was wonderful and welcomed. My wife, on the other hand, had hers done a little later in life…

My running coach friend recommends running something relatively short at an easy pace, but include some strides at the end of the run. After taper and easy running the week leading into the race, you need to remind your legs that they're fast and capable. For half's, the day before I've done 3-3.5 miles with 5x 20-second…

I'm pretty sure Elaine proved it's easy to get rid of the muffin tops. It's the muffin STUMPS that are hard to dispose of. Even the homeless shelter won't take them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a *kitten* for the race medals, but I think that experience would be worth more to me than any of the rest of it.

Depends on what you mean by seasonings. For something like oregano or red pepper flake, etc., the calories are going to be small, I usually track it, but it's such a small contributor it may not be worth it. For the pre-packaged rubs and seasonings (thinking Montreal Steak seasoning, etc.) the sodium could be a big hit. If…

Medium or dark roast, one cancer packet (either pink or yellow, depending on my mood). When I use the machine at work I double down - a normal cup topped with a double- or triple-espresso shot. MOAR CAFF-EEN!

Not planning on the Hot Chocolate - too much kid stuff going on!

15k this weekend to benefit the Atlanta Humane Society. Running but not racing. Let's let this be the kick-off back into weekend long runs and real training!

Finished the Helen Holiday Half(ish). Race overall was a muddy mess. 3 straight days of rain saturated the course. Gun time was a balmy 48 degrees and it didn't actually stop raining until about 2 miles into the 11.3-12 mile course (depending on whose GPS you believe). 1350-1500 feet of climb (again, depending on whose GPS…

Last race of the calendar year coming up this weekend, Helen Holiday Half-Marathon (ish). Trail run in Helen, GA, with RunBum Race Tours. Projected race start is 40 degrees and raining. Can't wait! A challenging course, will be the same as last year. Hoping to not turn my ankle at mile four (still finished!) and match last…

Competed the Atlanta Track Club's Triple Peach Challenge yesterday by running the Thanksgiving Half-marathon. Started out chilly, ended up nice weather. Challenging course, mostly downhill start then over two miles of straight climb just post the half way point then rolling hills to finish. I felt severely under-trained on…

Just picked up my number for Thursday's Atlanta Thanksgiving Half Marathon. Final Leg of the Atlanta Track Club's Triple Peach series (Peachtree Road Race 10k, Atlanta 10 miler in October and the Half on Thanksgiving). Just like the 10 miler last month, hoping really for a pace that's as good or better than my normal…

Leg two of the Triple Peach is Sunday - the Atlanta PNC 10 Miler. Between food-laziness and work-travel fatness and under training, naturally, I feel completely unprepared and out of shape. Goal is to finish. Finishing at a pace quicker than my easy-run pace will be a bonus.

Racing the Helen Half Marathon trail run in Helen, GA on Saturday. Gun time at 9:00 looks like it will be a balmy 33° and sunny. Last couple years the course has been on the short side of 12 miles, not the full half-marathon 13.1. I'm OK with that.

PNC Atlanta 10 Miler was Sunday morning. Nice, crisp 60-degree morning. This was the first year that they ran *down* Cardiac Hill for the race. Unfortunately, that put three long climbs on the back half of the course. I've been fighting a hamstring for what seems like forever, so I was thinking a 7:15 pace would be…

Although I have never used it, RoadID also has an app with an optional "Stationary Alert" - if your GPS stops registering movement for 5 minutes it sends an alert to your emergency contacts. https://roadid.com/ecrumbs

D-Day 10K at Currahee, 49:59, 10th overall, 2nd in the 40-49 year old age group, which is what they actually handed awards out for (the race results page shows 31-40 year olds). There are no distance PR's set at this race, you only race the mountain. And the mountain always wins.
