Help with carbs
Can you eat too many carbs in the form of fruit and beans? I'm planning out meals and it seems like I'll be consuming around 200 and based on my 1300 cal intake, it's recommended that I eat 163 in carbs. Does the fact that the carbs that I'll be eating are in the form of fruit and beans have less of a negative impact?

Have you become one of those preachy people?
The other day, my boss and I were in the break room and she was leaving. I was telling her about my diet and she was grabbing a bag of Cheetos from the vending machine. I almost told her that she shouldn't eat them, that she should go home and eat something healthier (bc she was on a diet the last time I checked). Our…

Burning in one shin when jogging
Hi. I recently started working out again. It's been about two weeks but I still have burning in my left shin. I'm doing C25K, and after about 1.5 min of jogging about 4.5-5 mph, and then 2 mins of walking, the burning will start. Even when I'm at the walking section, it still burns...it's almost like a pain. And, it's…

Cauliflower french fries
Posted this in my MFP blog and thought I'd share with you all.. You've probably seen this receipe and probably thought that people were stretching by saying that cauliflower can taste like fries, but as someone who HATES vegetables (with the exception of sugared-down creamed corn, fried potatoes, and as of two days ago,…

Mold in drinks
I just bought this new Special K chocolate mocha drink and when I opened it, there was black, fuzzy mold on the bottle. I'm sure that this can happen to any food. It happened to me once with orange juice, too. Ever since then, I've been careful about looking at the bottle before I drink from it. I think most people…

Juicing and nutrient absorbtion
I was reading a juicing thread a few months ago and vaguely remember someone saying that you don't benefit from chugging a lot of veggies at one time bc your body will not absorb all of the nutrients. Do you have any thoughts on this? Is there any truth to it? Is there a max to how much you should drink at one time? Thanks.

On average, how much sugar do YOU consume each day?
Just asking out of curiosity. Thanks. Me, too. That's one of the reasons that I was asking. For the past wk, mine has been 74, 57, 33 (only bc I didn't eat much that day), 74, 61, and 54 grams for today. MFP has me set at 24 grams, though.

Please explain the app's "Week of" feature
Please explain the point of this feature in the Nutrition section. It always shows "week of [current date]". Does it always display M-Sun stats and start over the next Monday? I don't understand why it always has the current date.

How would you spend $600 left in your FSA in November?
How would you spend $600 left in your FSA at the end of the year? I'm not talking about the HSA, just the flex acct. What are some things that someone wouldn't think of? For instance, I got a blood pressure cuff and a pulse oximeter. Anything else you can think of? Any special testing you'd run out and get? Anything…

Guidance about leg presses
If I remember correctly, I can lift about 200 pounds and each one takes me about 4 seconds (I try to go slow bc I was told that you're not supposed to go fast). How long should it take me to complete one/am I going to slow, too fast? About how many should I do for each set and about how many sets should I do? Thanks!

Weight equipment etiquette
I never really paid attention whenever I have gone to the gym, but is it considered rude to let the weights make noise when you bring them back down for each rep? Are you supposed to bring them down just before they hit the weights beneath them?

Workout safety (stranger danger)
This is more of a rant about some of the dangerous stuff I've seen people do. Do you make your workout maps public? I don't. I've noticed that some people do, though. And, some even let people follow their activity. I just don't think that it's a good idea to let random people know what streets and parks you use each day.…

What causes calves to burn and tired arms when running?
A few months ago, I started a running program and my calves would burn and my arms would get so tired. Towards the middle of the program, I no longer had that problem. I started to redo the same program, just about 1 mph faster and I'm experiencing the burning calves and tired arms. Is this bc of I'm going faster and my…
