Eating Terrible Food because you Have the Calories?
Today, once all my meals and everything were done, I had about 900 calories left, about 330 from exercise. I was super proud, because in the past month and a half I've gained back 6 pounds from my lowest weight in over four years. But I just went and had tons of Lindt chocolate, butter, sugar, and pretzels. I'm not over my…

Age Differences in Exercise Classes
I recently got the chance to try out Zumba when I was visiting a friend in another city, and I loved it! As soon as I got home, I went online to see if my area had Zumba classes offered anywhere. I was really happy to find some. The only thing is, from the looks of the website, the people who take the classes are mostly…

Intermittent Fasting Success?
Hello, I'm considering trying intermittent fasting (like an 18 hour fast, 6 hour feeding window). What are the advantages of it? Does it actually help to increase fat loss and weight loss in general? If you've tried it, do you feel like it helped you with your loss? Or is it just another one of those fad sort of diets that…

Endomondo Calorie Counter?
When I'm not following C25K, I use Endomondo to track how fast I'm running and how far. It also tells me how many calories I've burned. Does anyone know how reliable that calorie count is? It's often higher than what MFP tells me I've burned. Is it unreliable since it doesn't know what my weight is?

Feeling really unmotivated
I know this is long. I wrote it just now and I am feeling super dejected. To anyone who just reads this, thank you for taking the time. I really don't know what to do anymore. What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I seem to stay motivated for more than a week at a time? If even that! I eat right and exercise consistently for six…

Does WHEN You Eat Matter?
I've heard mainly two different opinions on this, and I've become really confused as to which is more truthful. But I've heard both: 1. Stop eating well before bed, to give your metabolism a chance to process the food, because once you sleep, your body isn't processing the food as well and more gets stored as fat (or…

Should I Join a Gym?
Especially with the cold weather (it's 10 F where I live right now), I've lost a lot of motivation to go outside and run. So I've turned to online workout videos. I started doing the 30 Day Shred, but once I got to Level 2, I lost motivation for that too. I'm debating whether I should join a gym. I think making a paid…

How soon did you see your 30 DS results?
I started the 30 Day Shred Level 1 on Tuesday. Don't worry, I'm not upset or surprised at not having seen results after the fourth day. But this week, since last Friday, I've gained 2.5 pounds. I didn't do great last weekend with food, so it's slightly understandable, but since Monday I've been exercising regularly and…

Moderation??
I thought that with the New Year, while I've already been working towards my weight loss goals and am over halfway there, I wanted to make bigger efforts to lead a healthier lifestyle. One aspect of that, I think, is learning moderation, so I can have thing like chocolate in small amounts without going cold turkey and then…

I Hate Myself
I'm sure people post this sort of thing all the time. And I'm not even sure what I'm looking for or what sorts of responses I'm expecting to get, if any. But I'm at an all-time low, and I need to vent and complain, so if you're even just reading this, thanks. I hate myself. I look in the mirror, and see my belly fat…

Running in Mornings in Winter
So I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I need advice. I want to get into doing my runs in the mornings; I've found that if I push them to later in the day more often than not they just don't happen. But as winter comes, it'll be really dark in the mornings when I run (probably from about 5:50 - 6:30 am) and there…

Eating A Lot in the Evening/Night
I tend to eat a lot at night. I can be totally in control for the whole day until around 7 pm and then it's like I lose it; I just have ridiculous urges to eat and eat and eat and eat. Then I blow my calorie limit in the matter of a couple hours. Does anyone have any experience or advice with this? I've been considering…

How Have You Gotten Back your Motivation?
I started out really strong in February. I lost 17 pounds, going from 159 to 142 by June. Then, I went away for the entire summer and didn't have internet access, so I didn't log the entire time. Despite that, I was in a place where I could only eat at mealtimes, and since snacking is usually my weakness, I didn't gain…

Starting Again and Looking for Friends
Hello! I've been on MFP since February. From then until June, I worked really hard and logged every calorie. But I've been away the entire summer and haven't had internet access, so I haven't logged for a few months. I want to get back on track and start losing again! I started at 159, and am now 141. My goal is 125, so I…

Is It Weird that I Hate Talking About my Weight Loss?
More and more, people have been commenting on how great I look and how I've lost weight. While it's an awesome feeling to know that people have noticed and that what I'm doing is making a difference, I always feel really uncomfortable when I get these comments. I hate telling people how many pounds I've lost or how much I…

Jillian Michaels 30 Day Slimdown vs. 30 Day Shred?
I'm debating which of these to start tomorrow. The 30 Day Slimdown provides more variety, but I've found a lot more reviews and great results for the Shred and they're really good, so I'm kind of torn. Has anyone done either of them and have an opinion? Especially the Slimdown, there really doesn't seem to be much out…

Good Balance between Resistance Training and Cardio?
I'm looking to tone up and avoid being "skinny fat" as I lose more weight, so I'm starting resistance training. But I know that in order to do things like get a flat stomach, what matters most is a calorie deficit and a good diet, so it seems like cardio would be important too. Is there some general rule of what balance of…

Best Jillian Michael's DVD to flatten Stomach?
I leave for vacation at the end of June and I'd really like to have as flat of a stomach as possible by then. I know that "Abs are Made in the Kitchen" but people have posted really amazing before and after pictures from JM DVDS and so I refuse to believe that a stomach cannot be flattened considerably through the…

Weight Training that can be done at home w/o much equipment?
I don't have access to a gym, and the more I've read on MFP, the more I've begun to understand the importance of weight training in this whole journey. I want to start, but I'm not sure where. I essentially have no equipment whatsoever - not even basic weights. I looked at New Rules of Lifting for Women (I think that's…

How many inches can I lose by the end of June?
I know that the approximate healthy maximum number of pounds you should be losing per week is 2 pounds. But what about inches? Is there some way to determine or approximate how many I can realistically lose by the end of June? Especially around my waist/stomach area - right now my waist is 29.5 inches and I would love to…

Sorry in advance...more TDEE method questions
After having a 1200 calorie limit for the past couple months, and overeating on it way too often, I want to try the TDEE - 20% method instead. I've been reading this as a guide: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/931670-bmr-and-tdee-explained-for-those-needing-a-guide So I don't know if I'm just missing something in…

Macros??
Currently, I have my macros set to the ratios that MFP set up when I first signed up - 55% Carbs, 30% Fat, and 15% Protein. I know that I'm definitely not getting enough protein, and I have a really hard time getting it up to that 15%, which I know is not good at all. I also want to decrease my body fat percentage, so that…

Dumb Question-The Nutrition Behind Calories in/Calories Out
So I've seen lots of posts in these forums through my time browsing them (which I do much too often haha) asking about "If I eat a lower amount of calories all in junk food, will I still lose weight?" Generally, the answers I've seen say, "Yes you'll lose weight, but you'll be really unhealthy and not at all nutritious."…

No Junk Food Challenge
I'm hoping this picture works! Does someone want to do this with me? I know there's something to be said for not depriving yourself of things in moderation, but honestly I just don't have the self-discipline to only have 1 cookie or only have a few chips. I want to try cutting those things out completely and see if that is…

"Fat" Days vs. "Skinny" Days
Sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and I think, "Wow. I've come so far. I can totally have a flat stomach by summer." And other times, I look at myself and think "Who am I kidding? I'll be lucky if I've lost any inches by Christmas." I guess sometimes I just feel like I look enormous and other times I feel like a…

Friends Who Will be Honest and Keep me Accountable?
Hi! I've been on MFP since February of this year. I started out really well and thought I was really getting in the swing of things. But lately, my eating habits have been absolutely AWFUL. I keep eating all of these chocolates, and ice creams, and processed foods, and things that I know I shouldn't be eating. I can feel…

When do you log things eaten in the middle of the night?
I'm a student who is often up really late studying. There is just no way that I would be able to stay awake and functioning at 2 in the morning without some sort of fuel (although of course I try to make sure that this fuel is healthy). My question is, how do you cut off your eating from one day to the next? Do you log…

Unexpected but exciting NSV!
This may seem strange to most people on this forum (since many are older than me) but I came to the realization that I've been having a gradual NSV since I started this. I'm a teenager who has suffered from acne since sixth grade, which is probably around when my eating habits went down the drain. Since then, I have tried…

Is it bad NOT to be sore?
I started the 30 day shred on Friday. I fully expected to be sore the next day. I was a little, but it wasn't anything as awful as is described by so many on these forums. Now, let me tell you, I am not a fit person. The workout was challenging for me to complete (although I did finish) and I was definitely tired and…
