blood pressure pills
I'm now off all blood pressure medication, including the HCTZ which means I'm retaining more water and as a result have gained a couple pounds. No good deed goes unpunished, eh?

Coffee
I'm so happy to be drinking coffee again. Ok, it's still decaf but I can drink it black and strong, the way I've always done. There were a couple months after surgery when coffee tasted horrible. I think that might have been the most shocking, unsettling thing from this whole process. I'd read other people's posts that…

Mixed messages from doctor's office
This has been simmering in the back of my brain for a few days. I had my 8 week followup last week and was told a lot of conflicting information - different from what I was told at the 2 week followup appointment. At the 2 week appointment, I was told that I should start adding non-pureed foods to my diet with the goal of…

1st day back at work and got sick
I'm sure this has been covered before but what advice / experience do you have with foaming/vomiting? This was the first time for me since surgery (Feb 12). I felt sick at work right after lunch. The only thing I had for lunch was Hillshire 2 oz of deli thin-sliced turkey which I thought I chewed really well but it just…

Protein powder triumphs and disasters
Hi, Week one on the full liquid post op diet and thought I'd share my high - low efforts with protein powders... unflavored Unjury, cherry jello and diet Dr. Pepper: I opened the can of Dr. Pepper and let it sit for a day to go flat. Made the cherry Jello with the boiling water and added the Dr. Pepper as the cold liquid.…

PreOp visit - what do you wish you'd thought to ask?
My preop visit is next week and I thought I'd reach out to all of you to see what you wish you'd thought to ask before the surgery. Something to help you get ready or to stock up in the house? Something to have on hand when you get home? How long until ...(insert whatever)? I just remember when I had some hand surgery a…

overwhelmed by the pre-op consults
I'm at the end of all of the pre-op consults but am feeling purely overwhelmed and now having some possible second thoughts about surgery. It just seems like the more doctors I see, the more things that I'm finding out are wrong with me. Every week is more testing and doctor appointments and I hate it. I can't help but…

PreOp diet and Diverticulitis
I spent last night in the ER on morphine and IV antibiotics with a diagnosis of diverticulitis. It's very frustrating as I've been so careful to watch my diet and am losing weight but apparently my diet is not good for my gut. Anyone with similar problems or experience? The fiber I was using before are the fiber gummies…

How did you decide which procedure?
My question is how you arrived at a decision on lapband vs bypass vs sleeve vs RNY? I'm on the 'medical managed weight loss' path to meet insurance requirements before I can get approval for surgery so I haven't even met with the surgeon yet. I've been assuming that the doctor would direct me to the procedure that's right…

New to group
Hi, I'm new to the group but have been lurking for a couple days. Great posts and support in this group. I feel like I've learned a lot already. I've been "provisionally" approved by my insurance company and have to lost 5% prior to surgery. So far I've lost 6 pounds of the 17-20 that I need to lose. I'm still researching…
