Kettlebells are for hipsters
Want to be a hipster but still wanting to workout? Let's face it. Those skinny jeans won't go on if your legs are flabby. What to do? What to do? Step #1. Put down that soy latte and grab a kettlebell. What are these things you ask? Kettlebells are like old school free weights. Sure fancy plates with perfectly machined…

Weight Gain During That Time of the Week #LongRunProblems
It happens every weekend. I do a long run which is so much fun and then comes the weight loading. This generally bumps my calorie requirements up to 5,000+ for that day. I try to get pretty close to that which requires you to eat all the food. Everything you can think of until you're nearly tired of eating food. A good bit…

Should a Tough Mudder count as a long run?
Last weekend was 14, this weekend is a 15, then a 16, and the following weekend will be a bit of a taper with a 13 mile run scheduled. I typically do these on a Sunday morning and the day before the 13 I'm doing a Tough Mudder. It's a 12 mile course but the endurance part isn't going to be a big deal. They way I see it you…

NSV - I lost weight

Her current profile picture is pretty sweet. I like the pop tart one too though so I'm torn on which one she should use.

If I log bacon, are leftover bacon drippings for free?
Let's say that I had bacon for breakfast. After you cook the bacon (and eat the bacon) you have leftover bacon drippings in the pan. If I wanted to add a bit of that to something later for a bit of added flavor do I have to log that again or is it for free since I already logged it that morning?

Runner uses Nike+ app to draw penises
This is killing me. I'm far too predictable with my runs. What do I do? I run in a circle, or straight lines. This person is far more creative. Check out the article for even better examples of what she's doing with her runs patterns. LOL http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/aug/06/runner-nike-san-francisco-penis

The Real Danger of Smoothies and Juicing
A recent paper published by a emeritus professor of biochemistry shows that juicing and smoothies are much worse for you than simply eating the fruit when it comes to weight loss. It appears that every turn in the blender or juicer is simply akin to predigestion and it's allowing your body to absorb the sugars much faster…

Mastication
What is the aversion that so many people have to chewing food today? Drinking your food won't make you lose weight. If that changes someone let me know and I'll stick to a beer/wine/bourbon diet plan. You've got teeth for a reason. Use them. That's what's natural and healthy.

Are DD Cups Too Big?
Duncan Donut serves coffee and iced coffee in a large that's 32 fluid ounces. Isn't that getting to be a little bit too much? Even the Starbucks Venti size is only 20 ounces. Does anyone really need a coffee pot in their hand? No wonder people have a hard time keeping weight off when the serving sizes are so big.

Can I donate blood to lose weight?
I was thinking about how much effort it took your body to make blood and each pint of blood weighs over a pound. (2.1 pints in a liter, 2.2 pounds per liter) every pound you lose is 3500 calories gone. There might be a little bit of extra calorie burn to create new blood as well but you would lose 3500 calories for sure.…

Shot After Shot by DEEZ NUTS
http://youtu.be/XZXg0pzcRB4 Perhaps a bit too much metal for me but perhaps you would enjoy this sort of thing for your workout playlist. Overheard someone playing this earlier and while the name seems funny I suppose it's a valid band.

Shave my back hair to lose weight?
Hey everyone. I was wondering. I shaved my back last night and dropped at least 1 pound. Does this count? I mean it is a reduction in body weight so should I log it as such?

Best Augmentation
What is everyone's thoughts on which GPS augmentation system is the best? The X-Box diet
How much crap can you eat while playing games and still look like you work out occasionally. I'm not measuring or anything but just sort of going off of feeling satisfied. Losing does make me feel worse so I tend to eat more at games I suck at. Can I lose weight like this?

NSV Running
I ran to the mailbox at the end of the drive today and back without walking. I wasn't even that out of breath. I've been noticing that I can walk up the stairs non-stop too and I feel like I have so much energy now. I might go check the mail again even though I know it won't come till the morning just because I can. Yay me!

Long run pace and effort
I did this run yesterday. Ignore the oddity of mile 6 & 7. My running app was a bit off there. Essentially I did the first 10 at about a 9:10 pace which is my goal for the marathon in December. The temperature was in the mid 50s yesterday and the first 10 miles felt easy, easy! My pulse was sitting around 150 which is…
