Hola
I just joined this group, so I thought I would say "hi." I started my WLP on June 1st, 2013. That day I stepped on the scale and it said 400 lbs. Since the scale maxes out at 400, there is no way for me to know what my real weight was, but I don't think it was much higher than that, I hope. Anyway, I decided then and there…

Do you wash your strap?
My strap is in serious need of washing. I can't find cleaning recommendations on the site. Can I just throw it in the washer? Do I have to hand wash it?

Decrusted bread...?
So, I'm curious, for those who cut the crusts off of their bread, do you still log it as a full slice? I've tried weighing it, but cutting the crust off cuts the weight almost in half, and I doubt it cuts the calories that much.

Hair shedding?
The last couple of months I have been shedding hair like crazy. It doesn't look like it is thinning, but every time I comb it big clumps come out. I did some research and found that shedding can be caused by weight loss. Has anyone else experienced this?

What's on your spreadsheet?
I saw that some of you are using a spreadsheet to track your progress and the accuracy of the BMF. I'm curious what data you are tracking? I just set one up for 2014. Obviously, I am tracking calories in, calories out, and weight. I am also keeping a column of "expected" weights, based on the previous day's data (I weigh…

Tell me about your scale
I'm curious what type of kitchen scales people use, how accurate they are, and how they like them. Right now, I have an EatSmart scale that I have had for exactly 5 years almost to the day. The scale actually calculates calories and other nutritional information for you. I got it before I had a smartphone that could do…

Does water gain after exercise eventually level out?
I've been counting calories since June, but I haven't been exercising. I decided I wanted to add exercising for 2014. I want to eventually run a few days a week, but am starting out just walking when I have extra time and energy. I've noticed that everytime I walk I gain about 4 - 6 pounds the next day and it stays on…

How do you deal with creating weighable recipes?
I'm curious what tricks people have for adding their own recipes to their food logs? Since all of the food logging tools I have looked at add recipes with a number of servings, rather than a weight of the serving, I have to go through a whole, convoluted process. I enter the total number of grams of the finished product as…

BM has been acquired by Jawbone
BM has an announcement on their site that they have been acquired by Jawbone. I hope if they change things it is for the better. I'm somewhat concerned, since I still have 2.5 years left on my subscription. I suppose this explains the delay in the Core II.

Does eating low fat make you hungry?
I've "dieting" for about 6 months now and have not really had an issue with hunger, other than when TOM comes for a couple of days. The last week, however, I have been hungry all the time. It's caused me to overeat several times. I'm still getting a deficit most days, but have also had a day or two at maintenance. The only…

Is snot messing up your diet?
I found this interesting blog post: http://coolefitness.com/blog/number-of-calories-in-boogers/ "On a typical day we swallow about 4 cups or 200 calories in boogers a day. When we are sick this can easily double or triple, no wonder I wasn’t really all that hungry." 200 calories could probably screw up some people's…

300+ people, did it take a while to see the weight loss?
I started at 400 pounds and have lost 66 pounds, and I still really can't see much difference. I haven't even changed size that much, I'm down from a tight 32 into a loose 26; so, basically, two, maybe three, dress sizes. I took a picture and put it next to my starting picture and while there is some difference, it is very…

Espresso
I'm curious how people go about logging espresso? My espresso machine has a dial that controls how much water to use for each shot. I know that 1 oz of espresso is 3 calories, but is that for a 1 oz shot? If I get one shot that is 3 oz, is it 9 calories or still 3 calories? If I get three 3 oz shots, is that 9 calories or…

Do you log here, on the BM site, or somewhere else?
I've lately been getting really frustrated with the food database on the BM site. It's ridiculous how many foods are not in that database. I'm constantly having to create new foods for things that should be there. Today it was Silk Pure Almond Milk. How is that not on their site? Not a single Silk product is there, in…

B**chy Resting Face, anyone?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v98CPXNiSk Anyone else have it? People always tell me I look grumpy, even when I feel just fine. I've tried to be more conscious of my face, but if I get engrossed in something it relaxes and I look mad, I guess.

Going gluten-free
I'm one of those people who feels strongly that people should not cut foods they like from their diet, but I have recently decided to try gluten-free anyway. The reason for this is that I have had some symptoms that have gotten progressively worse over the last year and a half to two years. These include: constant pressure…

TOM :/
Grr... I was good on Christmas day and didn't overeat. I didn't even have a desire to overeat. I've maintained my deficit all month and have had appropriate weight loss. Then yesterday I was hit by intense salt cravings. I did have 2.5 ounces of chips (a combination of potato chips and corn chips), but I still made all my…

Sedentary to running 18 miles a week in 2014?
I've lost 64 pounds over the last seven months (400 to 338), but I rarely exercise at all. I don't have enough space for aerobics, crossfit, or anything like that, and the only affordable gym near me is 60 miles round trip, so I think my best option for adding exercise is running. It is hard for me to motivate myself to…

The crazy things people do! Sheesh.

Why do people insist on giving (bad) advice?
I've lost 50 pounds since I started my weight loss plan. I pretty much just eat what I want and count calories, although I do try to avoid processed foods and artificial stuff as much as possible. I feel like the fact that I am losing steadily, feel good and am rarely hungry says I am doing things the right way, at least…

Can't seem to get motivated
I've been wanting to try the couch to 5k thing, but I can't seem to get myself motivated in the mornings. I'm not a morning person at all. I'm in the Phoenix area and it is just way too hot in the afternoon to do it, but I don't seem to have energy before 11 am. Even then, I feel like a big ole blah. I'm 350 (down from…

So frustrated
I started a new weight loss plan on June 1st. I steadily lost about 2 pounds a week up until the beginning of September. Since the beginning of September I have no lost a single pound. Nothing. I use a BodyMedia Fit band to track my calorie burn and I aim for a 1000 - 1200 calorie deficit. According to my armband I am…
