Grr... I was good on Christmas day and didn't overeat. I didn't even have a desire to overeat. I've maintained my deficit all month and have had appropriate weight loss. Then yesterday I was hit by intense salt cravings. I did have 2.5 ounces of chips (a combination of potato chips and corn chips), but I still made all my goals, including sodium. I only had 1700 mg of sodium yesterday. So, today I weigh myself and I have gained three pounds since Christmas Eve, I checked my calendar and, sure enough, TOM is supposed to visit exactly one week from yesterday.

I know it is all water weight, but it still frustrates me. Between the water retention and the cravings, I get all screwed up for two weeks every month. I stay focused on my goals and try to avoid/ignore the scale, but I really hate not seeing results during that time.

I get that everyone has this problem (well, all the women, at least), and I've been dealing with it myself for *cough* *cough* years, but it's bothering me more this month. Maybe because I've been extra cautious with my plan this month and have been feeling really good until right now.

although TOM can make you feel like you're preggo LOL

I'm up 4 lbs with mine. I just accept it and move on. As much as it ticks me off!

Do you measure your body in inches, or just use a scale? My weight goes up between 4-8lbs when I get mine but my inches stay the same (or keep shrinking). I suggest getting a tape measure and keeping track of progress that way as well. It's much more encouraging to see that you've stayed the same size even though the scale says you weigh more.

ETA: I got this one-- http://www.amazon.com/AccuFitness-MT05-MyoTape-Body-Measure/dp/B000G7YW7Y
It makes measuring by yourself more accurate since it stays in place behind you.
