Lifting on low protein low fat?
I upped my protein from what I would natural chose to eat (~35g per day) to a more calculated and deliberate 85-90g per day when I started lifting. All was well for a while then I started up with this good awful acid reflux issue and constant hunger. Cue lots of medical investigations later and it would seem that I don't…

Newbie female lifting observations
So I guess I've been going with Stronglifts for 6 weeks or so now. I've had a few observations about the program, some are probably pretty obvious, others were a surprise to me so I thought I'd share in case there any any other gals out there thinking of starting. 1. Back ache - what back ache? It's gone! I had the classic…

Stronglifts Squats Question?
I'm trying to vary my squats and doing different varieties. I tend to pick a squat and do 5x5, then next workout pick a different squat and 5x5. Is this right? Or should I be doing different squats each session?

Restricted diet support?
I'm talking medically restricted to manage actual diagnosed medical conditions before anyone starts wondering why the restrictions. Is anyone else struggling with being on a restrictive diet? I have a list of things I can't eat without consequences which is as long as my arm and I'm struggling with motivation to stick to…

Lifting is making me SO hungry?!
Is this normal? I was having 1g protein per 1lb LBM but I've doubled that and I'm still starving. I'm unable to stick within my maintenance calories without feeling faint, yet before I was having to have a 'treat' in order to get my calories up to maintenance. I'm about 500 calories a day hungrier! Will this last and I…

Lost 22lb in 2 minutes, got so much energy!
AND I spot reduced it, all from my hip (inset smug face here)! How you ask? It's so simple, anyone can do it with this one simple tip! I handed my baby over to his granny for the day! I'm leaping about doing jobs with ease without that 22lb stuck to my hip! (Although - soppy mummy alert - I do miss him horribly!) And yes,…

Surplus? Maintenance? Or Deficit?
I've been pointed here as somewhere sensible to ask for help. Quick stats: 5'1 & 112lb, not worried about scale weight, just health, strength and how I feel about myself. So my priorities are to increase my bone density (low when scanned) and get my strength back after a life event and I'm about to undertake a lifting…

Newbie lifting question?
I am hoping to start lifting but I have no access to a gym (nearest is 20 miles away, doesn't have a crèche and I've no baby sitter) and I have a space/funding problem re home equipment. What I do already have is a reasonable set of dumbells, each goes up to 60lb, so 120lb in total. I think I've found ways to do all the…

What activity level should I set MFP too?
I'm a stay at home mum doing the usual play with-and-lifting-of-baby plus household domestic chores. I walk the dog whilst pushing the pram off road at a brisk speed for 45 minutes every day. I do 60 minutes of Pilates 5 times a week and I spend about 6 hours a week gardening (digging, lifting, moving soil/plants etc).…

Cardio dance/exercise DVD?
Owing to restrictions (winter coming, toddler and no family to babysit, no local swimming pool, living very rurally etc) I am looking for an alternate winter/indoor cardio option. Reasonably low impact as my knees aren't that good and I'm banned from running and other high impact sports. I've seen lots of cardio exercise…
