Couple Riding to a Group Ride Gets Hit by a Car
This is something that is always on my mind as it is with most road riders I'm sure. Just a few weeks ago a car passed me so close at a high rate of speed that the vacuum nearly took me down. I no longer ride on that road, a superstition I guess. Keith Anfenson and his wife are from the same town as I am in Buckeye AZ.…

Garmin Edge 810 question
Ok, I posted a question about cycle computers a while back, but with the new and "IMPROVED" update recently, I cant find it. I currently have a Edge 305 and am quite happy with it. The issue I have come across however is I travel about every other month. I either take my bike with me (when I can) or I will rent one when I…

A goal of mine
Ok, I made mention about this a while back and wanted to follow up. I have me a goal to work on. Near my house is a place called the White Tank Proving grounds or otherwise known as the Catipillar Proving Grounds. Around the Phoenix area there are many “Proving” grounds for various auto makers. They like the desert to test…

Selfie!
I also took a small stop to move water bottles. I was on the bridge that crosses the Gila River. This picture is taken when the river is in its flood stage, which is the same condition of just about all the other "rivers" in Phoenix

Saw the Doc today
Finally got to the doctor (specialist) today. I got to see both a prectitioner and a doctor. Both agreed that I should pretty much live my life as I did before, even riding my bike outside, just no crazy downhills on my MTB. He told me he wants me on the meds for 9 months and then they will re-evaluate me and see if I can…

Hmm I'm Considering this
I have had a growing interest in Gravel Bikes, or CycloCross bikes. I'm thinking I want to build one of these. I don't want to buy one new as I like to tinker with bikes. I built a 24" BMX bike from scratch for my Son, so I'm thinking I want to do the same thing for me for a gravel bike. I would try to buy used items…

Comfortable Road Shoes Needed
(Big Sigh) Shoes. I wanted to post this to see what kind of feedback I can get from you. I have never really been comfortable in my bike shoes, and I can't figure it out. I'm good up to about 3 hours of riding, but I don't believe I would ever be able to do a century ride with my current set up. My current rides never go…

What is your Bike Computer and software?
I use a Garmin Edge 305. So far its been the best computer I have owned to date. It can have two bikes stored so I have my Road and my MTB in there. I had to purchase an extra mount. This computer keeps track of heart rate, cadence, and it will GPS your ride keeping track of speeds and elevations on your ride for later…

That bike guy painted on the road
It has always amused me on the vast differences of the bike guy painted in the bike lane, and how different they are, some are down right just funny. Unfortunately, I havent had my camera for some of those funny looking ones. But the one I do have for is from today, this guy looks like a WWI soldier! I would like to see…

You Century Riders..
What do you do for water when on a non sanctioned century ride? Do you just use two water bottles? I can’t see that working for me here in Arizona as I can use up one water bottle on a 30 mile ride. I may have to have a camelback to do a larger ride.

Strava Active Friends
Has anyone used this feature (its on the paid side) Wanted to know what you think of it. I have used the live tracking on MapMyRide and it seems to be ok. I'm considering switching over to Strava. Frankly didnt do my research before hand. It seems many more riders use strava than MMR.

stop signs and traffic lights
I recently read an article about a group of riders that were all pulled over for running a stop sign http://pvpost.com/2013/08/23/prairie-village-police-ticket-26-bicyclists-for-disobeying-stop-sign-20654 Wanted to post here for discussion to see who does and does not obey stop signs and lights. I almost never stop for a…

A little road trip
Well I'm on the road again for my work for about a week. I was happy that I was able to bring my bike along. There are many good rides both for the road and the dirt in the places I am going to, so I had a hard time choosing which bike to bring, however I ended up choosing the Roadie! (Sry Ken) The last time I was able to…

Harrowing or Funny “dismounts” from your bike
Just wanted to see what stories you may want to share about becoming detached from your bike. My favorite is when I first started riding a bike which was when I was very young. The training wheels came off and I was free to ride finally. The problem with the children’s bikes at the time is the pedals always moved if the…

Both striving for a goal.
Hello, I just wanted to check in and say hello to the MFP community. My wife got me to sign up as she is on here working toward a weight reduction goal. Although I’m not over weight, I have a little belly. So I figured I would sign up here and put myself on a program; that way I would know what my wife is going through and…
