Am I Just Seeing Things??!
HOW can 7 lbs make that much of a difference? I feel like there’s something wrong with my eyes, or I was EXTREMELY bloated before and this loss doesn’t “count” because it MUST have been all bloat/water retention.

NSV: Stopped a Binge Day Before It Began
I woke up this morning in the wrong mindset. I wasn't hungry, but I wanted to binge. I wanted to eat whatever without measuring and damn the consequences. I'd get back on track tomorrow, right? So I head to the kitchen for a bowl of cereal. Out of habit, I reached for the scale and decided, what the hell, might as well…

20 LBS down, 80 LBS to go!
I started in Jan, lost 13 lbs by mid Feb and then took a long break until the beginning of July. Now I'm 20 lbs down, and though it's not a HUGE loss, it's made quite a difference in my tummy. The tank in the after picture is the same style and size as the beforest pic, just different color. I can't wait to keep going!

Cumulative Weight Loss Calculator (using calorie goal)
It's a bit hard to explain what I'm looking for, but I'll try my best. I'd like a calculator (online, excel spreadsheet, whatever) where I input my calorie goal for the week, and the calculator will tell me how much I'll lose over time if I continue to eat at that goal. I know MFP does this, but only in 5 week increments…

How do you avoid obsession (calorie counting)?
When I make my own meals, I'm able to measure everything out with my food scale and enter the information into MFP accordingly. When I eat what others cook, however, I get frustrated that I can't make a better estimate. For example, tomorrow I'm going to my Dad's for some homemade sweet and sour chicken. He hand breads and…

Is this normal weight loss during the first month?
I'm just wondering if it's normal for me to be losing this much during the first month. I mean, I'm not complaining, but I wonder if something is off. Initial weigh-in was 239. First week: 232.5 - I expected to lose quite a bit, water weight and all. Second week: 232 - I ate on target every day that week, so was shocked to…

Small NSV (Long-ish)
I started seriously tracking my calories 2 weeks ago. I'm 100 lbs overweight and aiming for 1-1.5 lbs per week for now. The first week, I went from 239 - 232.5, so 6.5 lbs. I knew most was water, but I'd never purposely tried to lose weight and to see that I COULD do it gave me so much hope. This morning, my second weekly…

At what point do I begin to eat back my exercise calories?
I've set my activity level to sedentary as I work at a computer and don't do much activity outside of the gym. I understand that sedentary assumes a basic level of activity, but where does that level end and when does my activity at the gym go over sedentary and require logging? I walk 2 miles round trip to the gym and…

Eating With Family
I rent an attic apartment above my parents so I share the kitchen with them. Because of this, we usually eat 3 or 4 dinners together each week. While some meals are easy enough to guess (chicken breast and veggies) others are more difficult (casserole, stuffed shells, meatloaf, etc.) because my father is a good cook and…

If I Set My Level to Lightly Active...
I am a cashier/sales associate at a drug store. When I am not ringing somebody up, I am stocking, cleaning, reorganizing, etc. I am on my feet 100% of my shifts, which run anywhere from 6 - 9 hours. I work 5 days/week. So, I figured that would be lightly active. However, if I add in intentional exercise 3 - 4x/week, should…

Another calories question
I just posted that MFP has me set at 1,490 / day based on 1 lb / week loss. I am a 20 year old female, 185 lbs, 5' 4''. I have been playing around with body fat cals and TDEE calcs. If I set it to no exercise, my TDEE is 1,993 and TDEE - 25% = 1,495 If i set it to 3 hours/week, my TDEE is 2,284 and TDEE - 35% = 1,485 I…

Struggling with figuring out calories...
I am a 5' 4'', 185 lbs., 20yo female. My UGW is 125 - 135. According to MFP, my daily calorie goal should be 1,490 at 1 lb/week, if I set it to sedentary. However, IIFYM TDEE calculator has my BMR at 1,596 calories. I am confused about activity level. I am a college student. I usually take the bus to school in the Winter,…

TDEE with or without body fat %
Using the IIFYM TDEE calculator, if I choose the Mifflin-St Jeor Calc my BMR is 1596 and my TDEE is 2194. If I choose the Katch-McCardle option, which uses body fat %, my BMR Is 1333 and my TDEE is 1832. I figured out my body fat percentage using a tape measure, which I know is not accurate, but I wanted some kind of…

If TDEE sedentary and MFP are the same thing...
Why do my values come out so drastically different? According to MFP, if I want to lose 1.5 lbs/week with a sedentary setting, that would be 1,240 calories/day. According to TDEE, if I set it to sedentary, my BMR is 1596 and my TDEE to maintain is 1915. In order to get to 1,240 calories/day with the TDEE calculator, that…

TDEE - 25% if still above my BMR?
MFP has me set at a little above 1,400 calories if I aim to lose 1.5 lbs/week. On the Scooby calculator, I have it set for 1 - 3 hours of light exercise per week. My BMR is 1597 according to Scooby. If I set it to TDEE - 20%, it has me at 1,726 calories/day. If I set it to TDEE - 25%, it has me at 1,646 calories/day. Would…

MFP's daily calorie goal less than my BMR
Based on MFP's BMR calculator, my BMR is 1592 cal/day. I have my app set to lose 1.5 lbs/week, as I have more than 40 lbs but less than 75 lbs to lose. The app has my daily goal at 1460. What am I missing? I have tried the TDEE calculators, and if I do TDEE - 20%, it has me at more than 1500, but still under MFP's BMR of…

55 lbs to get to goal weight
I have always struggled with my weight, even as a child. I downloaded Lift, an app that allows you to make and track your goals on a daily basis. I received an email from them about a diet experiment they were doing with 10 common diets. I was assigned the calorie deficit diet, which I truly believe will work well for me.…
