Issues with Nuts
Quick question. I've done the LCHF type diet before, but I am relatively new to ketosis. I've been <50g of carbs per day for 2 months now with all of the attendant impressive results of cutting carbs this low (I usually come in <30g). I started to notice my weightloss had stalled and did some reflection on why, I noticed I…

Intro
Hello Everyone, Just thought I would introduce myself here. My name is Steve. I've been on MFP for a while now. I lost a ton of weight on the whole "conventional wisdom" thing. I put myself through P90, P90 Master Series, and P90X filled on up on lots of carbs, low fat, etc. It was fine until the progress stopped and I hit…

Progress at 272 days
I did a quick photo the other day and compared myself at day 272 to what I was at Day 0. I don't recognize myself anymore: Day 0- Day 142 Day 142 - Day 272 Looking at these pictures I feel totally disgusted with what I used to be. I don't know how I could have let myself get that way. The new me has confidence, strength,…

Plateau Assistance
Saw this article: http://caloriecount.about.com/new-look-weight-loss-plateaus-b425152 Has anyone read that book? Breaking past your set point? The article mentions hitting a plateau after 6 months or losing about 10% of your bodyweight. If you take a look at my progress: The plateau started in mid december, 6 months after…

I've lost 87 pounds doing this and it works like a charm. I can do this the rest of my life. Seems like common sense.

Observation: Eating like garbage and missing work out = weig
So I've been stuck in a serious plateau on P90X for over a month now. I've been trying a lot of different things to break it. Lowering carbs (which just screwed up my stomach and regularity), zig zagging calories, etc. MFP has me at 2208 calories per day. I weigh my food and deconstruct ingredients when I count my calories…

How much to eat?
Been following MFP's recommendations for a while now (7 months) and have lost about 85lbs. Just looking to compare with people of a similar size/activity level how much I should eat. Doing the Harris Benedict formula I come up with a BMI of about 2403 (188cm tall, 255 lbs, 28 years old). I was not sure about what to put as…

Gradual Progress
I woke up this morning and sauntered over to my scale and saw that I had lost 68 pounds. Then it clicked, I started at 340, now at 272. That means I lost, get this, 20% of my body weight. I was pretty pleased with the milestone. That's not bad for 5 months! I'm looking forward to seeing the results at 10 months (April).

Advice on Running for a heavy person
I really like running for execise. Short 3 km runs have been some of my favorite exercises. Put on a good song, and take in the fall colors. A few friends however, who have lost weight, and run have warned me about it though. One friend who went from about 240 - 188 told me that even at 230 lbs he got stress fractures in…

Observation on energy and exercise
Hi, This is probably common knowledge for most people, but I noticed something interesting while working out last night. I posted a thread the other day about having an issue with my sweat smelling like ammonia during really strenuous exercise. The knowledgeable members who posted told me that the smell was due to burning…

Sweat smells powerfully of ammonia?
I'm not sure why this has started happening, but during my workouts, which are intense, I sweat a lot, and recently my sweat has started to smell extremely acrid and powerfully of ammonia. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Is it dangerous? What can I do to fix it? Thanks for any advice

Questions for non wheat/low carb eaters
I've been seeing a lot about "wheat belly" and low carb eating recently. Not that I am an advocate (I don't want to start some sort of battle here, I know this is a passionate issue for a lot of people), I am simply just curious as to what people who live no wheat low carb lifestyle eat routinely? My main question is how…

Happy with my 4 month results (34%)
I set a goal to lose 150 lbs by December 2012. I started this journey on June 8th 2011. I am very happy with my 120 day results. I thought I would share them. Lost 51 lbs so far (~34% of what I need to lose). When I started I was taking an anti-depressant and blood pressure meds. Today I am drug free. Feeling great. Have…

How do you set your realistic goals?
I had a question about setting realistic goal weights. I know body weight isn’t always the best indicator of health. If you take a look at an athlete like Julius Peppers(DE for the Chicago Bears), the guy is 6’7” 285 lbs. BMI calculators would call him obese. If you take a look at the guy though, he is all muscle and in…

50 lbs down but more to go and going a little slow
Hello everyone, My weight loss has slowed down a bit, so I thought I would ask for some advice as it seems there is a lot of good ideas on this forum. I started my weightloss journey 103 days ago. I have been doing Power 90 (not p90x) and now am on the P90 Master Series. I started at 340 lbs and the scale read 291.2 today.…
