Progress realization
Yesterday my husband and I flew to Florida to take a cruise. As we checked in at the airport, my suitcase was weighed, it was 43.6 pounds. It dawned on me that I have lost 2 suitcases! I'm still having a hard time wrapping my mind around it...

Losing weight is fun!
Yes I said it, fun. I started out 2 years ago, 55 year old woman, 5'6, 248 lbs, size 24 pants, XXL top Yesterday I hit 169 and am a size 10 pants and M top. While I still have a way to go, I'm not dreading it because... I've had fun trying out new sports and activities. I regained my love for swimming that I had as a…

Disappointment
I have my yearly check up today and my goal was to be at 169 when I go in. This morning I was 171.4, but I'm not going to let it get me down. I started at 248, so even though I didn't meet this goal, I STILL FREAKING ROCK and will continue on with my weight loss.

Red Bull
Most days I have an 8.4 oz. sugar free Red Bull to get me up and moving. Once awake i do 45-60 minutes of Yoga/Pilates to loosen up my back as I had back surgery and I need to stretch and strenghten every day or I'm miserable. Afterwards I swim 1.5-2 miles most days. I don't drink anything else but water, green tea and the…

Eating exercise calories burned
I try to stay close to 1,200 calories a day, give or take a few. Several times here, I've read not to drop below that number as it's not healthy. I swim nearly every day, today I swam twice for a total of 1,000 calories burned and I ate an extra 300 calories for a total of about 1,500 calories. But since I burned 1,000…

My NSV
5 days a week I go to swim laps at the High School while the water aerobics class was going. here Yesterday there were about 15 women who were taking the class including a young woman with Down Syndrome who attends daily with her mother. Jenny mostly splashes around in the shallow pool, rarely interacting with others. One…

Swimming calories burned
I swim between 1 1/2 & 2 1/2 miles 5 days a week and I burn approximately 500 calories per mile swimming at a moderate pace with sprints thrown in. This week we have had a wildfire in our area, creating smoky conditions. I have been waiting until afternoon when the air clears a bit and have stopped doing sprints and have…

Milestone rewards
Yesterday I reached 70 lbs lost through diet and exercise so I rewarded myself with new swim goggles and adding a half mile to my usual morning swim. Last night I rewarded myself with a bottle of very good wine and dancing under the stars to a fun local band. This morning I am rewarding myself with aspirin. How do you…

I hate it when you're right!
I've been dieting for a couple of years and had good success overall down about 70lbs. I'd been stuck, not losing any more for some time and kept reading people complaining about plateaus and wanting to know how to break it. Y'all would tell them to weigh their foods and log everything. Pfffft, I thought. I know how to…

Swimming as strength training?
I swim about a mile and a half 4 times a week. My arms get a serious workout and I'm curious if I can count this as strength training as well as cardio. On 2 days a week when I can't swim, I lift hand weights at home. It's all working, I'm down over 60 lbs so far, so this is just to answer my curiosity. Thanks in advance!
