Oh Marie! Marie! Get well soon, and get back to your potatoes and beans! We loved your photos and menu plans. We also suffer the same computer malfunctions. We are eagerly awaiting news of your returning home to us. We miss you, dear friend.
Our son has finally named his boat...Gitanna (sp?) Spanish for gypsy. Fits his personality exactly. We still have not made the trip to see it in person. Just looked at many photos. One of his dogs has already fallen overboard. She has a life preserver jacket so all was well. She was wet, cold and indignant!
Had a strange night, very little sleep for some reason. John would say it's the change in the barometer. I think it is moonbeams and fairy songs that is keeping me awake. I feel somewhat draggy but in good spirits so I will trudge happily along today at 1/2 speed.
Katie is also starting to show signs of maturing. She still insists on having all her toys scattered about but she seems content to chew on her chew toys, chase balls, drag around her stuffed animals and be forever right underfoot. I'm okay with that! It is perfect, really.
For my birthday later this month, John is giving me a gift certificate for a monthly bouquet of flowers from Costco. They have wonderful roses at a very reasonable price. Since I didn't plant flowers this year, I really miss them. But I do have Little Katie...

Update: Momma says hello to all! She is having problems typing on her iPad in the bed so I will be her fingers for now!
We have good news and some not so good. Her infection is improving thanks to the antibiotics but the Doppler revealed some small clots in her legs so they put her on a blood thinner. She will need to stay here until probably Monday and then move to rehab. She is being a good sport about the food choices but I know she misses her potatoes!
She loved seeing all of your well wishes. Thank you!

Thank you Alice and continued prayers for our Marie!! Tell her to just take it easy and get well, that is the most important thing right now!!

Same from me MARIE. Just get well and get back to us real soon, anne0
-
Thanks for keeping us updated Alice. I'm thinking angels were keeping an eye on your mom because those blood clots needed to be dealt with and without the infection she might not have visited ER so she really is in the best place right now. Do pass on to her the story of my friend who spent time in hospital and because she suffered with bad reflux they fed her nothing but mashed potato until she swore she'd never eat another spud in her life!! Plenty of time for them once your mom is home again, hopefully very soon.

Yay, Marie! You are on the mend. So glad they found the clots. Thanks again, Alice!
Thank y0u

Sandy ~ Oh dear, curtains still not hung although the old ones are now in the washing machine!! Too many distractions......

Marie - glad you are doing good and your blood clots caught. Best wishes and lots of love.

Thank you Alice. Thank goodness the blood clots were found. Sending along more healing prayers and lots of hugs. Looking forward to more updates.

The 94th birthday party we attended (really, a dinner in party dining room) was superb, despite the hassle of getting Mike there. I was delighted to be with so many friends again, but I think it tired Mike too much. And yes, PHOEBE and SANDY, I hear you and JACKIE, in the background, loud and very clear! I agree, too, but during the day I do laundry, spend far too much time on the phones making and changing appointments!Tonight, he seemed willing to attend, but needed help dressing, etc . He's still making jokes about Viagra, so I guess there's still some life left in my dear husband yet!
After 1 AM, so see ya!

Dear Buzz, I think of you each day and pray for your health and Mike's health. Hugs.
Marie my friend, just a good morning and hoping and praying you are doing better and we will see you back with us soon. Love you!
Now, time for church. It might be hot in there or it might be very cold. The mystery of the air conditioning system!!
Hugs my friends.

Happy Sunday! Took my friend out for a drink and something to eat before her hysterectomy on Thursday only to find out she wasn't drinking due to high blood pressure that they are trying to get down before the surgery. We still had a good time and caught up with each other. I might go to her pool, she lives in my old apartment complex or I might just go to mine. Another beautiful day to take advantage.
Marie,
Lin, my church is also hit or miss with the A/C, I always bring a sweater.
Buzz, Rome wasn't built in a day, you can do a little each day. LOL with Mike and viagra, festy little devil isn't he?
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying each day they are given!!
Sandy

Hi Marie, hope you can find something to occupy you, glad you're getting treatment for those clots. You never know what food is like in a hospital. It all sort of smells the same. Here's hoping you aren't going hungry! Love ya. Hope Jerry is OK too.0

Ditto for MARIE. Actually lucky the clots were found!

Ditto for MARIE again!

Good morning from my mom! She wants you all to know she is ok. Her infection is improving and the doctor just left and she will move to rehab tomorrow.
Love to all

Good news Marie!! Feel better hon, and we will see you soon and your delicious dishes of food. I had home fries today for breakfast and was thinking of you.
My SIL, who passed away, her best friend, went Vegan, she is in her 60's. She has lost 30 pounds, her BP was getting sky high so she had to do something. So once again, your plant based program works!!
Well packing is done and we are leaving tomorrow for the cottage and taking Dave's mom once again.
We will be stopping to see my monkey man, Isaac, can't wait to see him he is growing too fast.
Yesterday we were at the boat, but no sailing, winds were very strong. We just stayed and BBQ'd some steak, grilled veges and kale salad. We did have some rain, much needed.
I will have spotty Wi Fi at the cottage, but better than nothing, and will keep up with everyone and Marie's progress. I booked 2 Yoga classes again and will do some shopping on one of the days. We are having
some friends out on the weekend to celebrate his mom's birthday again, people who couldn't see her at the time. Bass season has started so we will have some fun fishing too.
Enjoy your week, I will try and keep up.

Hi from Oregon coast. Cool, cloudy with promise of showers. As usual. Funny! When things are going along as usual, it feels comfortable. If things are way different, even if it is a good different, it feels unsettling.
Great news about Marie. The rehab will be interesting and will start a new set of life choices to stay healthy.
Buzz, okay busy lady! Schedule in a nap every now and then. I will join you...say about 3 or 4 this afternoon? Even 30 minutes makes a huge difference in my energy level.
Lin I understand about your church dilemma. I have the same issue. I want a religious experience that is uplifting and following the same practices that I grew up with. I want to sit in the same place, with the same people around me. A contstant religious experience for me is very comforting and fortifies me for the week. Whew! Do I sound like an old foggy, or what?
Today I will be going to Home Depot with John to pick up paint for me to paint the gate on the fence. John built the gate...I get to paint it. Katie gets to jump up it with muddy feet and claw at it with her sharp toenails. Everyone has their job to do.

On my way to bed after a rather lazy day. Don't ask about the curtains, that's a long story including Hebe the cat finding the hooks to hang them on the rail and batting them around the room until some have disappeared!! Another ebay order!!! So happy Marie is on the mend and off to rehab where hopefully a few potatoes await. Patsy, I just adore your stories about Katie; they make me laugh out loud.
Goodnight
Jackie

A quick note on my sleep; Finally went to bed Sunday evening around 9 PM. Woke at 2; watched Blue Bloods, tried to sleep, washed a few dishes, programmed morning coffee, tried bed again. NADA! So here I am reading all your posts, happy MARIE is mending, nervous about today's staff meeting regarding plans for Mike (worried now he might not be approved for electric wheelchair( ! ), worried they may say he belongs in Lehmann Center (Alzheimer unit) just generally worrying , and here it is 6:08, so thinking it doesn't pay to go back to bed!!! Hysterical about those curtains, JACKIE! Sounds like what I would have done!
Just want to mention that I have done extensive research on diets for gout, and the results are: Turkey is bad; turkey is good. Lobster and all shellfish are verboten; lobster, oysters, crab and shrimp are acceptable. Red meats are out. Lamb and other chops are fine! Enough to drive one to drink---oh, alcohol is very bad! Good night...or good morning, depending on how you look at it!

Happy day. MARIES on the mend and I had a morning smile reading everyone's posts. Well yesterday Jill and I went to the Hamilton heritage war planes museum. I don't like actually flying maybe because I've either worked with plane engines and research for most of my life, but I also love planes and the concept of artificial flight, (amazing), and because all my friends have in the past been connected to working with planes or designing their engines. Even had a young chap build a small plane in my garage in another life. Anyway we also wanted to see how Jilly would react to a longish car journey. She loved it, BUT the museum had a dog ban. I pleaded, told them of my long working life at PWC and RR, and told them many of my old male friends worked on the engines volunteering at the museum in its early days. Nothing doing, only seeing eye dogs I was told. No exceptions. (Do folk with no sight go to view WW11 planes?) i wear glasses I pleaded furtively fishing them out of Jilly's travelling needs bag. No way, so we drove home, went downtown which was full of happy dogs and I purchased a rather natty nightie with the money I'd saved. Michael was happy though, he saw the WW11 Lancaster bomber take off, and found that one can have a ride of 1 hour for $3000. THAT would be something wouldn't it! However he's broke, so forget that wish.
Washday, yeah, yeah, yeah. Happy washday folks,
Anne and the banned pooch.1 -
Anne, you've got to get one of those bags that looks like a handbag. Jillie will have a good view. If she barks, well that's your cell phone ringtone!0
-
Oh PHOEBE, I've got one and we had it with us, but sometimes I'm too honest for my own good! Mind you the young guy selling tickets told me folks are always trying to sneak dogs in, and they get caught and get turfed out. I'm so CHEAP I didn't want to lose the cash and also having the shame of being marched out, me who spent all her working life with engines, plus my dad and the old ex who was a fantastic design engineer. Pride comes before a fall eh! I've been loads of times in the past, so really it was a trip down memory lane. I'd rather have the Beanie.
Squeaky clean Anne, and that's a laugh!!!1 -
Morning,
Chiropractor apt. this morning, monthly adjustment, and then leaving for the cottage. I got a text from Kathy yesterday and Isaac walked 4 steps yesterday. Yippee!! Can't wait to see him!
