Well – Couldn’t get into community yesterday…so I won’t rehash what I started to write. All regular things completed. Baked chicken at 5:30 am for later today - LUNCH all set - Baked skinless chicken thighs, Spaghetti Squash, Various Grilled Vegetables… Weather should be GREAT!

    zymet8ut73zj.jpg

The good news, it appears Thanksgiving with daughter tied to grandson’s birthday is on. It was decided we would treat it like a restaurant with masks etc and remove when dining. She works with children all day and I know fears any possibility of spreading anything. Personally, I am not worried at all about the few of us getting together. It would just be her family, us along with x and her husb. I simply go with the flow. Whatever makes people comfortable, I will do. Just glad to see everyone and grandson becoming a “teen.”

Lin – You said – “Raw broccoli and cauliflower do not love me that much now” lets just say I love both – raw and cooked – but then there is the “after effect” sometimes LOL. Glad you got your grocery order this morning.

Jackie – The fresh sheets etc should be in place tonight…. Ahhhh. The phrases you use --- people are going to start to wonder what the heck I am talking about when I say – “Plans for today are muck out the hens!”

Anne – Congrats on joining a grocery delivery service. You sound like me – I always dip my toe before jumping into the pond & would have also gone with 3 mos as a test.

As for the election. I have disconnected from a lot of political news until the entire process is completed. I think media jumped the gun a bit with votes still being counted, obvious irregularities, recounts to be done, pending litigation etc. – didn’t see the need to rush. The whole Bush/Gore dispute took 37 days and media jumped at only 3 days. The media doesn’t “elect” anyone and Biden isn’t President-elect of anything like various media report. Anyone familiar with the constitutional process knows that. Once the process is complete and a winner has been “certified” that person is my president. It is what it is… I know people that for 4 yrs immaturely said “He isn’t my president.” Lots of media games being played – so I have just decided to wait. At this stage, I would guess it will be Biden… but it’s an important process and deserves to be played out. All IMHO of course.

Sandy – LOL – wrote the above and then read your post. Cheers! My family was split down the middle. I have a very low opinion of Biden based up numerous ethical issues throughout is 47 years. I even know someone that went to school with him – but Trump wasn’t my first or second pick for president (and I certainly disagreed with some of his positions). There is a reason I changed my registration to “independent” ages ago.

My position is simple: “Once the process is complete and a winner has been “certified” - then that person is my president.”

It isn’t who wins as much as having a system that can (for the most part) be trusted going forward.

Anne – Just read – In Flanders Fields – It was only in the last 10 yrs or so that I first read it. LOVE IT!

Time is getting away from me. So adios for now – hope everyone has a great day! Bob

Happy Sunday!! :) We did have movie night and the movie was Dumbo, so cute. The kids loved the flying scenes as I also did. Today is zoom calls day and hoping my football numbers come in for a win for me. I am getting new tires this week so I should be ready for winter even though it would be nice if it skipped us this year.

Bob, I really don't have much to add but was really impressed with Bidens acceptance speech as well as Kamala's. I am glad you worked out a way to celebrate your grandson's birthday and Thanksgiving. Our's will just be our same bubble.

Lin, love the colors of today's tea set. You must be feeling better if you are doing all those chores. Is the pain in your ribs going away?? Haven't heard of Remembrance Day but it sounds like our memorial day.

Anne, great poem honoring all those who gave their lives, including the horses.

Jackie, less crowds are better, cases are getting out of control once again. I am thinking there will be another complete lockdown in our state and I would be fine with that.

Patsy, you sound like my granddaughter Bryanna who told me when she heard Biden won she burst out in tears at work. She has many gay friends and is very liberal.

I better get moving and take advantage of this beautiful weather. Have a great but safe day.

Just got back from Mark, Mary Jo, Derek and Bevs place. We sat outside and it was really hot even with the umbrellas shielding us. Bev sat in outer space because she is a teacher and there are 4 cases of the virus at her school. We wanted to get together, all of us, because we haven't been together since March. All of us together at once I mean. She seemed okay but you never know. I came home clutching another Louise Penny book and will settle down now to read it with all the recent drama receding.
Hope everybody has a warm, peaceful day as well. "See" you all tomorrow.

Mr Trebek. I watched him almost every evening. Sad. We are losing all the familiar faces.
Sitting with my family today and listening to their animated conversation, I suddenly realized I am from a different world. I think my mother felt very much the same. Loved and wanted but not quite in sync as it were. Not in tune with today's values, a spectator really. This doesn't bother me, more of an interesting exercise but a realization how I now understand my mom and her struggle to be "with it" in her rapidly changing world as her generation became no more and she outlived her cronies.
The thing is to enjoy sitting back and listening rather than fully participating. IF one can get a word in edgeways! One certainly learns a thing or two, lol.

I am late posting tonight. It has been an odd sort of day. A bit strange all around including my very lack luster casserole. John was brave and ate it anyway. It was a cold day here. We awoke to frost on the deck and while the sun came out, it was decidedly cold all day.

We had a sweet but sad chat with our son. His dear old puppy “Runtie” has a heart murmur, kidney malfunction, and all of her teeth are in very sad shape. He has her on antibiotics and pain pills. You can see this will only be a strategy in the very short term. She made a small rebound a few weeks ago but it was short lived it seems. Our son is aware that he needs to make that hard decision very soon. It is only fair for that dear old furry friend. I wish we could be there to help him.

We are going to be watching an English series called Broadchurch next. We have been watching Breaking Bad. It was excellent but DARK!

Anne: I had an aunt that was an assistant for Gov. Ann Richards in Texas years ago. She lived until she was 99. She was a style maven and she wore high heels every day of her life. She always said she had to hang with people who knew a little something, so all her friends were at least 90. She would have known exactly how we feel!

I wish everyone a happy Monday as I look out my drizzle spattered windows at low grey clouds. Breakfast is finished and Shostakovich is being played on my radio while I contemplate a walk. Where to go... moors or local village?

We’ve moved on to the Warsaw Concerto while I finish a mug of coffee and Betty has edged towards the back door so decisions to be made while I brush my teeth.
    Back later!

    Good morning. Teapot time.

“Royal Worcester Evesham Gold. The Evesham Gold range was introduced in 1961 and in production up until 2015, although later production was moved to Portugal, this teapot was the 'Severn' shape teapot which I believe was replaced by the 'Malvern' shape.”

Happy Monday! :) Another summer day in November, how blessed we are!! Nothing on my schedule today and Joe just called to say his gland is more swollen so we will not meet today.
It is a good day to take a walk and get some fresh air. I am even tempted to sit in the sun on my balcony. B) I just want to soak all this beautiful weather in before winter hits.

Lin, pretty little set, I like it. Is your pain going away??

Jackie, sorry you are having rain but you always manage to get something done.

Patsy, it is always so hard to make those decisions and I know Babe tends to wait too long.
I really pray he doesn't let Daisy suffer but for now he said the shots are working. It will be difficult for your son but he will know when the time is right.

Looks like everyone is busy this morning or out enjoying a beautiful day. Whichever the case, have a wonderful day.

Me, Mark and Bean raked MOUNDS of leaves to the front for pickup. Then he cut the grass. All done for winter, apart from the coming snow! Me and Mark are now walking bow-legged with sore backs, Bean is still a-bouncing, oh to be a young dog.

It's so sad these delightful little friends have to grow old so quickly. I feel for your boy PATSY and his little Runtie. I feel for you as well because I know you also love Runtie.

I see Mr Biden is moving with his two dogs. Four years since a dog played on the Whitehouse lawn.

I am now collapsed on the sofa and will spend the rest of the afternoon pretending I'm Lady Anne with a cup of tea, my latest book and my corgi. Whoops! Pomeranian, chihuahua and whatever. Both Bean and I have dubious lineage!

Great and busy weekend / morning – Weather has been awesome…going to 70’s again. Took in a final “Ice cream stand” band performance last night…the weather prompted a 2nd final (LOL). Daughter shared pic of one granddaughter on Girl Scout nature walk and grandson with friends on a special bday bowling – all with Covid rules etc.

    k3i45vf5kjwz.jpg

This morning was gym, cooking and then delivery of client photos… lunch ended up as - (212 cal.) Grilled Vegetables, Riced Cauliflower, Broccoli, Butternut and Spaghetti Squash, Skinless chicken thighs

    un2u087moa2p.jpg

Sandy – Like you, I think the Dumbo story is sweet. I haven’t seen the 2019 version – but do recall the one made way back when in the 40’s. As for politics, I found the comments by former solicitor general / Judge Starr interesting – but pretty much ignoring social and mainstream media talking-head opinions “from both sides” until Supreme Court rules. I only know by Jan 20th…it will be decided.

With regards to tires congrats! I haven’t decided yet – which really means Jean hasn’t told me yet. We just don’t drive like we did in the past (Since May - Jean has only driven 1500 miles and 3500 in my car). If we only knew if the winter would be mild or not. LOL

Anne – Sad to lose Alex Tribeck. I didn’t always watch, but enjoyed when I did. That type of cancer spreads so quickly without warning. While he lasted about 18 months from diagnosis, I lost a friend a couple years ago that looked great in October with no knowledge at his daughter’s wedding and by Feb was dead.

Love the way you express your thoughts on life. Jean and I have similar thoughts. I think Jean feels the “not being in sync” with times a bit more than me. But we both hate the disregard for “values” that were a part of past generations (not just ours) that seem to have been thrown to the side. At times, I feel bad for those that don’t even know what they aren’t experiencing. A woman in her 80’s – a very close friend – once said “Bob, I know how old I am – but in my head I am still that younger person.” I’ll stop here because this is a topic I could talk about for hours. To be continued….

Sandy – Just saw your “today” post about being a good day for a walk. Same here. However, Jean just came in 10 minutes ago saying “do you think we should do something like a walk through the neighborhood since its so gorgeous?” And I said – nah. Time to change that answer. Typical guy – gave the wrong knee-jerk answer. Time to correct that....

Signing off for now. Have a great day ! Bob

My decision was a walk on the moors and as we set off in the car I thought it best to stop somewhere not too high as low clouds were making the area foggy. A good plan but then a beautiful piece of music came on the radio so I kept driving so I could listen longer and finished up in dense fog. Not surprising only one other car parked up so I kept on the paths so as not to get lost but George and Betty still managed to have fun as they trotted along. George looks very cute with his new haircut and was even given a bath so is smelling sweet. I’m sure he’ll soon find some fox poo to roll in so he can feel manly again!
Not much been achieved since I returned home, in fact I found myself viewing You Tube videos as the rain continued to fall.
Our Covid infections in the area continue to rise, not surprising what with half term and crowds of visitors but I’m continuing to use a face mask and hand gel visiting anywhere other than open spaces.

Lin, The crab apples have been topped and tailed but recipes I’ve found online suggest de-seeding isn’t necessary because they are so tiny. I would have cooked up the chutney today except I need to buy a few jam jars and that requires a visit to the hardware shop. I’ll go tomorrow.

Anne, I think it a great idea to pay for your grocery deliveries if it guarantees them. The electrician who was working here told me his family is now making regular bookings to ensure they stay in the system and he’s a lot younger with kids in their 20’s still living at home and none of them isolating! Great job on the leaves and you definitely deserve feet up with your book.

Patsy, that’s so sad about Runtie but hopefully pain relief can give her more quality life until your son knows the time is right. These awful decisions are made because we love our pets.
Broadchurch is a dark drama and a bit unsettling but very well made so you and John should enjoy it.

Lucky you Sandy, enjoying some late summer weather. A walk sounds a lovely idea so make the most of it.

Bob, I’ve become more a people watcher when it comes to politics since I have little or no trust in promises made by politicians. For the first time in my adult life I chose not to vote in our last election because no party offered even one policy I believed in. Of course this means I can’t complain about the outcome but instead study voters and do my best to figure out what they see that I don’t. It’s fascinating research!!

Oops, my oven is beeping and I haven’t even prepared the veggies.

Just a quick follow up on my last post -- took Jean for that walk - she asked if I wanted the neighborhood or Lake; told her ladies choice.... IT WAS LIKE BEING LET OUT OF PRISON.... So gorgeous... so warm and sunny... think we likely broke a record for Nov 9th. Going to wrap my arms around this day!

ps - Jackie - I hear ya and to be honest at this point I don't see things changing without something big. But life is so short, I pretty much let go of things I have no control over. Always good to read your posts...everyone's posts actually. For now, I am basking in the sunshine and pushing winter further back in my thoughts for now.

    Warm wishes to all Bob

Well, I'm all rested and read half the book, but Beans still snoring on the sofa. Hard work being a supervisory dog! Just wanted to share the little pear tree outside my front window. As you can see we've still a ways to go with leaf raking.

It's a gorgeous day here. We sat in the garden for a while, me in short sleeved shirt and summer cotton pants. Absolutely unbelievable. This is my kind of weather. Pleasantly warm and not a mosquito in sight!

I also accomplished a 2.34 mile walk but didn't take pictures. All you would have seen were cars buzzing by me, not any pretty scenery like Bob or Jackie. Bob when you said I am going to wrap my arms around......I was positive you were going to say Jean!! lol
Maybe I will ride my bike while watching Judge Judy.

Cloudy and quite cold. Sweater weather! Katie is in the mood to run and play ball even in the misty weather. I guess that’s the reason we have at least 3 or 4 rain jackets of different thicknesses. From light to Alaska sub-zero! Katie’s jacket is her marvelous fur that seems to shed water without getting too wet.

John is into winterizing the cars. It is odd that both cars need new batteries. We don’t drive around all that much as well. So how could they get “used up?”

We are now chasing down a credit card that went astray during the big mail in voting. I can just see some batch of mail in votes with our credit card stuffed in the ballot box! The credit card company says not to worry, they will give us a new one. Hummmmmmm so what about that other one? Oregon has had mail in voting for years. It is good for people like me. I ponder the issues like my life depended on it. Even if it is an issue that has little or no impact on my life. As our son says to his girl friend...”my mom, the maniac, is into politics.”

I have been doing a really bad thing! I have skipped my exercises because I have been doing some extra cleaning. Even washing some windows inside. But that has not kept my hip/knee/back and neck from arthritis stiffness. Okay! I admit to being easily convinced I had done enough physical activity when maybe .....I didn’t. Bad girl, Patsy!

Stunning Canadian colours Anne. When we were told last week to expect your weather to come across the pond I assumed it would get colder but I now live in hope summer will return! 😊

That’s a brilliant Length of walk Sandy even if you had cars for company! A possible bike ride too!

Oh dear Patsy, let’s hope your credit card isn’t being considered a form of election fraud! I used to consider housework to be the same as exercises but then my joints would complain loudly.... what do you suppose these exercises are designed for Jackie? Get on and do them!

Pretty teapot, cup and saucer Lin. A dear friend lives near Evesham and we’ve enjoyed boat trips on the river Severn and visited the Malvern hills so I love the little set even more!

Nearly time for bed. A little dog ahead of me!

Seriously! That is so adorably cute and funny. Betty, in the new reading chair, sound asleep. There is something about doggies when they are snoozing. Makes me want to pick them up and cuddle them like babies. Sleep tight little Betty and George and Jackie too.

Lovely posts today my friends. ❤️❤️

Will try to catch up tomorrow. I have been talking with friends today.

Our hospitals are officially at capacity. Elective surgeries being cancelled, people being sent home from inpatient care because they need the beds. Not enough medical staff, too many out ill, shortages of PPE and testing.

This is of great concern locally. All of us are quite upset.

Good morning friends. An interesting start to my weather when I chatted in my garden with the neighbour that’s helping me clean and paint the back wall of my property. Before 8am, me still in my dressing gown, we agreed that since it was dry and sunny we would get a coat of paint on the wall this afternoon then I got myself ready for a walk on the moors. Ha ha, so much for plans because by the time I had the dogs on their leads a thick sea mist had rolled in off the Atlantic and I could barely see the end of my garden! Hoping that if I drove to the top area of the moors I’d get above the dense fog we set off and hooray, for once I was right!
    1teazahd8cpr.jpeg

There was one scary moment still some way from the car park when I saw another thick bank of mist roll towards us and it meant walking into it to get to my car. A tiny compass hangs on my key ring so I checked it occasionally until the old mine engine house emerged from the gloom so I knew which way to go!

Home safe, mug of coffee consumed so now a quick whizz round with the vacuum cleaner before the paint brushes come out.

It was my day for a hair appointment until this lockdown got in the way but last night I watched a documentary about a famous London hospital where staff were doing their best to deal with long lists of out patients who had waited throughout the first lockdown for cancer treatments or lived with an aneurism that could have burst at any moment. My hair appointment is now totally irrelevant!

Lin, scary times for you so please keep doing what you have been and keep away from any gatherings, however small. ❤️

Wishing everyone an enjoyable, safe day whatever the plans might be.

    Jackie

I've just woken up to summer once more JACKIE! Things change on Thursday as the prairie snow drifts over but another day of "frolicking" in the garden! Hope it reaches you, Betty and George, but you know I actually miss those lovely mists rolling in off the North Sea. No idea how you spell the word but we called them sea roakes. One can understand why all the best ghost stories come from the British isles. Reminds me of one old villager hurrying home from the pub through the fog on a country lane with his walking stick. Full of good cheer he stopped after hearing ghostly chains rattling after him on the other side of a hedge. "Ghosts don't frighten me" he yelled and raising his cane gave a hefty whack into and beyond the hedge. A startled whinny greeted this act of aggression and a poor horse galloped away.
Good story to tell his pals the next evening in the pub and get a free pint.

Must away. Mustn't waste another lovely day without mosquitoes. Lack of "small" things make me happy!

:) The rains are coming here again so I need to bundle up with the right clothing.

:) We're headed for the grocery store today. I plan to buy a turkey since this is the time of year to buy one, but I won't prepare it for Thanksgiving since there is no need. I'll put it in the freezer and get it out during the dark days of winter when I'm looking for a fun project.

:) Going to the grocery store is a big event for us because it's the only time we're in the company of other people.

Incredibly beautiful here on our walk. Blues sky and golden leaves floating down to join the golden masses in the church grounds,
I had another surprise from my delivery groceries on ordering today for Thursday. If you remember I joined the membership last week for a three month period of free delivery. Most items I ordered just normal but on some items, and easier to give an example, I ordered a can of clover salmon shown at the usual price but on ordering the black lettered price turned red with $2 off for members only! Boy, I wish I'd joined earlier! At this rate my membership fee will soon be paid off and free delivery as well. It's the little things that make me happy! Like glorious sunshine and no moskies in sight.

Happy Tuesday! :) I have a dental cleaning at noon and later sitting for kiddos. It is beautiful right now but storms and colder weather coming tonight. When I am done sitting I will drop off my car at my mechanic's and leave keys in dropbox. Bryanna will meet me there to drive me home. Tomorrow they will put new tires on my car and when done Bryanna will drive me to get my car.

Anne, good deal on the membership especially when you get discounts for being a member.
Enjoy your beautiful weather with no little critters to bother you but don't overdo your back. Funny ghost story.

Lin, whenever I see or hear the name Harrods I think of Princess Diana. Very sad memories. A friend posted on Facebook yesterday that they admitted 60 cases of Covid at our local hospital the day before. Things are getting so much worse again.

Barbie, good luck at the grocery store, lots of limits again in our area.

Jackie, I think I would really be scared in fog that thick, not only of getting lost but of falling in some hole or something that I couldn't see. Love the picture of Betty snoozing, she is one happy rescue.

Patsy, I wonder what the staff would do if they found your credit card?? Look between the cushions maybe little Katie hid it!! At least you cancelled it so it can't be used.

Time to get ready, have a wonderful day and stay safe.

Wow, lots of rain. My sump pump is chugging along thank goodness. Some freezing precipitation to the North and West of here. Maybe the weather will be better tomorrow.

What beautiful pictures everyone has been posting! All our pretty leaves are blown away and we are in the wet and dreary part of fall. I already miss the bright colored leaves. They are so festive.

Sandy, a busy day for you but getting a lot accomplished. Have fun with the kids later on!

Barbie. Happy and successful trip to the store today. I hope you enjoy your outing.

Patsy, I am sorry about your credit card but those companies are totally on top of lost or stolen cards. They will take care of you. It might take a little longer to get your new card due to the slower mail. A friend told me she was expecting a replacement card by some type of express mail but near the end of the day, it hadn’t showed up. She was biting her fingernails but assumed she would receive it the next day.

Jackie, aha, you did a good job figuring out the weather. I usually do not. I thought the photo of George in the chair was the best but now, my gosh, Betty is totally relaxed and happy. My question, do you ever get an opportunity to use the chair? 😀

Anne, fantastic that you got a discount. Marvelous. You will recoup some of the cost of your membership. Excellent. I gasped at your photo of the leaves. What a huge pile and in the street. If you rake one leaf into the street here your neighbors would start screaming. Not allowed here. You just bag them up for collection. They compost them I believe.

Bob, you have fun each and every day. Good for you!

Buzz I tried to call you yesterday and no answer. Then I got involved in what turned out to be a most of the afternoon call so didn’t try again. I hope you are doing well.

Hello Jeri, Diane and all our other Sneakers.

Just a small puzzle yesterday as well as some cooking and a bit more laundry.

Funny Video JACKIE and I agree with everyone, your pals are adorable.

Leaves. We don't have to bag our leaves LIN. This enormous vacuum come chugging noisily along every so often. One man drives this monster whilst another walks behind holding a handle attached to a gaping pipe which he aims at the leaves and with a whoosh they are gone, off to the compost heap at the dump to be turned into flower food. We have an awful lot of trees in this town and it would cost a fortune to buy gardening bags to contain all the leaves. As it is, sometimes the giant vacuum doesn't make it before the frosts arrive and we end up with frosted snow mountains on the side of the road all winter.
I'll try and get a picture of the machine but it could be difficult because we are sometimes woken up in the wee hours as the mad scramble starts to get as many as possible up. My photo doesn't do the height of the leaf mountain justice and my lawn is already getting covered again.
The only person who hasn't a pile out front is Harry the lad. He waits until spring to run his mower over his leaf covered lawn but usually the wind has dispersed them onto everyone else's lawn before then!

Guess what, the heat is bringing out the stinging things again. We have retreated indoors, me with one or two bites and a huge itchy weal on the side of my jaw. Grrrrrrrrrr. It's 77F this afternoon but tomorrow afternoon it starts cooling off for SANDY and LINs weather to reach us on Thursday. That will be a shock for the stinging things!
