Life is very interesting these days. We have had contact with old school chums and it was such a shock. These folks got old! How did that happen when we are just the same as we always were! Seriously! Time stands still in my mind. I am always amazed and annoyed at little aches and pains. I never see them as age related. I also am surprised at generous younger people who offer help for little tasks. Coming to grip with the fact that I am old, look old and act old! God grief! I am going to up my game and try to at least go for a younger old! I need to walk faster, with more assurance. My Spanish classes are going well. Ready to take a class at the college. Exercises for the brain.

My blood work is done this morning and had an EKG. Although it was snowing on the way there. I got up and we had
snow on the roof tops and my car. It is melted now but really?
I went for a 45 min walk today anyway and I should have worn a hat. I had gloves on and it was cold. Brrrr

Dave has gone to Toronto with our friend Paul and has not returned yet. Our friend Tom is coming over tonight
to book his Jamaica trip for November on line. He hasn't done it before so Dave is going to help him. It will be
a year then since Elli has passed and he wants to go back to the same place for memories. We will order some
take out chinese for dinner tonight.

Hello to everyone and hope your day is going well.

JACKIE, good to hear you have completed your project and the cottage is back to being "home" ! ANNE, send a reduced photo of you with your new haircut! I never thought it looked wild at all!
Just returned from visiting friends up in the medical floor. Do I ever feel lucky!!! Once more, practice balance, as falls are a major cause of fractures, breaks, tears, etc!
I made a lab test appointment for the wrong week, so I must change it for tomorrow, if it's not too late.

BUZZ - as requested new haircut, still a bit wild, but much thinned out! It was mainly the back which stuck out like a brush. Hairdresser was quite scathing about people who chop at their own hair, but I gave her a tip anyway. She had quite a pile to sweep up! I have promised to go more regularly especially as I get a discount for being O-L-D. It has its advantages PATSY!

This is celery root or celeriac. I haven't used it as I don't want to stuggle with peeling or chopping the base. Maybe others have more experience with this than me??

    Sorry Marie.

smiley-happy026.gifJake spent the morning making creamy cauliflower, potato, coconut soup. It is a low sodium meatless recipe to fit his new way of eating. It was delicious but a lot more work than I would have done.

smiley-happy026.gifI got my hair cut on Monday because my bangs were so long they were driving me crazy. It had been two months. Today one of my friends suggested that I could have trimmed my bangs myself but that's something I refuse to do. I tried cutting my own hair when I was a teenager and it was such a disaster that I vowed to never do it again.

remember me? whew, been a few busy days. Honey has been at the vet since Monday, she is fine. She got her second stage Heartworm treatment. we go back in about a month to check to see if they are all gone. Ever forward!! We won't have any time off again until May 7 and 8. It will be a rough time though. I am going to drive to my cousin's graduation from college. It is in Mississippi, about 350 miles. I will leave Friday, meet everyone at a local restaurant for dinner, then the graduation, then drive back to Georgia. I still need to get my clothes and the gifts ready so that I won't have that to do when we get in, hopefully by the 7th. I am Not caught up, but I read when I have free time. Jeri, I assume you are in Hawaii now.. enjoy!! And Sandy, I know you are planning a trip to Florida, yes?
I feel like Buzz, being up so late, but just got my computer sort of working again. I had to wait while it installed 55 updates!! lol, I really goofed up, didn't I?
Hope everyone is warming up, I am happy with our weather in the daytime, a little chilly at night. better get some sleep, more to do in the morning.
    Love you all

Hi sneakers, did any of you read the topic - "You asked, you got, kind of - MFP premium"? Apparently we are doomed as a FREE site with no upgrades to be given. The free site is expected to slowly deteriorate as we are lured to the premium. That would account for everyone's problems I expect. Only available to the USA at the moment, I gather you guys will pay $50 a year for the premium, but the rest of the world can expect to pay much more. I'm not a politically minded or money making genius, so I hope some of you who are more learned will read this topic. I'm no good at posting the access info given unfortunately. Must go and read a bit more before Michael shows up for lunch.

Yes, $50 a year would not be an attractive option...........I hope I got the link right.

On the go today. Need to get everything wrapped up (including my walking) by about 4pm. Outta here for the rest of the day/evening. I'm actually going somewhere for a change and I wouldn't go but I'd already spent the money on the ticket!

    Hugs.

Before things go crazy, does it seem possible to start a off shoot of Golden Sneakers somehow? A free chat group that will still keep us connected...I hate to lose contact with anyone here on sneakers. I could probably dig up the $50.00 But since there is already a rather significant ad and commercial aspect to MFP, why the 50 buck charge? This is very sad. I don't want to lose any of you as my friends. I have not been on sneakers very long but I found you all wonderful supportive interesting friends. What can we do?

I wrote everyone's comments down so I could comment myself.

Anne - Love the new hairstyle makes you look younger. Your hair is quite dark for your age. Kudos!
Now what is this about MFP asking for money soon? Could you direct me to the information.
If this happens and this group breaks up please let me know if you go somewhere else. I will give
you my email address so we can connect.

Lin - I have never seen celery root before at our stores but not saying you can find it else where.
Looks interesting. Kind of like anise bulbs.

Phoebe - I am so glad Honey is on the road to recovery from her disease. Enjoy your graduation ceremonies.

Barbie - It was interesting readying about the cauliflower soup, that's my plan today to make the
same soup. An MFP recipe and will try it today. I know what you mean about cutting your own hair,
    I would never do it.

Buzz - Remember Yoga is great for balancing. I am still trying to perfect the tree, still unbalanced.

After Yoga this morning I went to visit my MIL and chat with her for a while. She will be coming to the
Spring concert as well as my sister and Dave. I just couldn't get more people to come.
Well I am getting off to do make that soup.

Okay I just read about the new premium for MFP. It will not affect me now, only US citizens. Other countries will be in the future. I guess I won't worry about this until it happens.
It's not the money but I will lose contact with you all if you do change.

Hi everybody, if MFP allows this site to disintegrate as time goes by, and none of us want to cough up more cash in a money grab for the "premium" site my son suggests we exchange email addresses and continue our own sort of forum. I posted the information I found above, SHIRLEY, just before MARIE posted. PATSY, $50 isn't that bad ONCE and once only, but every year! And even more expensive for us " Furriners". The owners also, I believe, automatically remove your subscription until you tell them otherwise. There must be a way though to communicate in a free chat group on the Internet especially as we all pay for the Internet service, but me being totally untechnical, how? SANDY, our expert - help.
    ANNE.
PS. one of the chaps on the recent above discussion post "asked will the PREMIUM folks be able to communicate with us non paying masses, or will "they" build a sort of Berlin Wall to separate us." Lol, but there's a thought!

First, welcome home, PHOEBE ! We missed you dear friend!
I must go to that link, though I dread reading about the possible break-up of our Golden Sneakers. I went through a similar thing with South Beach Diet on a Microsoft site that simply ceased to exist! We found some of us on Facebook, but eventually I resigned from Facebook as I don't feel secure on it! I see too many chinks in the security provided, and I got a little tired of the narcissistic postings of some people I knew, so I just resigned. But this forum has become like family for me, and I don't want to think about not chatting with you as often as possible!
ANNE, you look as perky as ever, no matter what length your hair is. And BARBIE, that soup sounds delicious!
PATSY, love your suggestion, and we all love that you are one of us!
Well, I just clicked on that link and realized the inventors of MFP have gone in the direction of the Zuckermans or Zuckerbergs, (Facebook), and made more money selling out to Under Armor than the young trillionaires of Microsoft, Apple, etc., so of course they aren't very concerned about those of us who use this website daily.
Oops, Mike needs me; he's lost control of his mind which means low blood sugar, so bye!

Quick pit-stop post. Busy day today and busy weekend ahead.

Couple exercise workouts this morning completed and car issue resolved.

Spent part of the morning with Grandson and tomorrow he has an art exhibit followed by “a sleepover weekend with g’pa (me) and g’ma”…so I won’t be on MFP much.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. :)

Hello everyone. I do hope posting these pictures doesn't mess MARIE and BUZZ's MFP!! Photos were taken very early in the morning so the light isn't great but gives you an idea. The carpet is so plush after the old thing that had been down for so many years and is heavy duty domestic and will hopefully cope with mucky cats and George!

What a shame that as ever the mighty dollar rules and we are to be sold down the river! I agree with BUZZ and in fact have never got into Facebook because of security issues, just too many question marks over the whole idea of Big Brother for me. However I'm going to seek advice from a friend about setting up a basic free website for us Seniors to use so hang on in there.

Lin ~ What you have there is celeriac and you can either grate raw into salad, bake, mash or mix with other veggies. It has a distinctive flavour and we've grown it at the allotment and really enjoyed it.

Buzz ~ Oh dear, I do hope Mike's ok after his blood sugar dip. Mine does exactly the same if not careful and that's when balance can go haywire as you know. When I worked with Adult Social Care I met so many lovely older folk who would tell me how they hated getting old because of uncontrolled decline so I hold on to the idea of living each day and can appreciate you feeling yourself so lucky with your own health. Do take care of yourself and Mike.

Anne ~ When I snip at my hair my hairdresser scolds me so I feel like a naughty child who shouldn't be allowed near scissors!! A few more bluebells out this morning and a sudden canopy of fresh green leaves. We had a small shower of rain last night after several weeks of glorious sunshine and my garden is sitting up saying thank you so I can't complain.

The carpet fitters suggested I not hoover for a couple of days to allow things to settle but I'm now clearing up the fluff and odd bits and pieces left lying about and have already cleaned out the vacuum's filter once today! I must get on otherwise the job will seem never ending.

Will hopefully have more time tomorrow but meanwhile hello to all my other sneaker friends.
    Jackie

Good, bright, sunny morning everybody. Guess what, I've just lost my post again, what's new these days! BUZZ glad you commented about Facebook because both my sons warn me against it, so maybe not a good idea after all, and maybe SHIRLEYS and my sons idea of email is better. I believe you can do group cc' s on them? So everyone would be included? Oh dear, what do I know!
I'm sure SANDY will know what to do!
SHIRLEY, good luck with your concert, which I most certainly would have attended if I lived closer! My DIL has one coming up too, and I'll be attending and thinking of you. I asked her if her group had a pretty lady called Shirley in it, but apparently not!
PHOEBE, so glad little Honey is doing so well, will she be with you at the celebration?
JACKIE, I'm imagining you and George tonight in your lovely newly done cottage! Are the bluebells out, and have you a bunch in a vase on the table!
PATSY I'm copying you today, on the Just for Today Post, once I stop rambling!
BARBIE, the soup sounded sooooo good, BOB with his grandson, EVERYBODY, today sounds like a good one!
    Cheers, ANNE.
