Hate it when I hit the wrong button! I wish I'd had more time this morning to type up everything all over again but I really wanted to get some things done (other than be online all morning) and now I am finally slowing down a bit and can try this again.
Remember how much I loathed Pilates Fix? Well, I surprised myself this morning because I woke up eager for today's workout! Weird! When it got to the side section, I decided to just try to keep up. After all, for weeks now I've only been doing fewer reps and the only way I'll know if I can do the whole thing is if I occasionally try to do it.
And I did it! I kept up. And no it wasn't easy and the stretch afterwards hurt. But I did it!
So that's a great NSV for me! I also see that I'm keeping up better (not all the way) with the plank series. I will never be able to do the hip drop one because of my knees so today I did them from a high plank.
That's right! Two NSVs in one workout!
PiYo Drench was tough.
@dkwi04 Put. The. Scale. Away. You're working too hard to invite discouragement into your day. Let it go. Weigh on day 22. That will be your After result and your Before starting point when you go for the next round. (Even if you don't do 21 Day Fix, it's your Before for whatever is next.)
For me, weighing daily motivates me, even when I gain. So I'll make a deal with you. I won't weigh if you don't. That'll be hard for me. And you.
Everyone
My ankle is aching. It isn't injured but I noticed twinges in it a couple of days ago. So today's Pilates was much appreciated. I was hoping PiYo would be something I could do with my shoes on but, wouldn't you know it, it was a day when we were barefoot. Tomorrow, I may be able to wear shoes for both. It hasn't stopped me and won't. I walked for two miles with Rob and plan on using the bike. Oh yeah . . . and take something for the inflammation.

Another Tough Morning
Friday is PiYo rest day which is good. My ankle is still sore. Not sure what is going on. It doesn't feel injured, it's more like a strain than a sprain, if that makes any sense. So I just keep using because I don't want it to get stiff.
Cardio Fix is getting easier. No. Wait. I'm getting better. I stepped out the Mountain Climbers and modified the Burpees but I kept up every step of the way. Decided to the 10 Mins Abs Fix and didn't modify at all. My leg may not have been extended to where it was almost parallel to the floor but it was extended.
Now it's time for me to decide what I'm having for breakfast. I had thought I would have oatmeal but I'm just not feeling it so I may whip up some eggs. Have a great one, everyone!
Oh yeah . . . and my knee is hurting today. Between the skaters and the lateral squats . . . ouch. I am going to take an anti-inflammatory today. Again.0 -
@SatiaRenee - I got on the scale today - and now it is up even more (.4) and then I changed the batteries and it went up again (.6). I hate the scale and I moved it! I measured myself and its not all that great either - small losses. In the past I would just have given up - but I'm not. I am going to push through. and I will start round 3 Monday.
I might go see a nutrionist though. My husband is concerned that maybe I could be not eating enough calories, but I am between 1,200-1,350 most days though and that seems like enough. He told me I should add a nice recovery drink after my workouts - even if it doesn't fit the containers - but I struggle to not follow the "rules"
Maybe I just stick with it and my body fights through - How long can a plateau be? I am on 3 going on 4 weeks. And I still have about 20 pounds to go0 -
@dkwi04 for well over a week the scale didn't move for me, kept going up a half pound then down, then up. Although I stayed well within my containers, the weekend came along and I didn't have my usual whole wheat flat veggie pizza but rather grilled chicken & veggies and salmon & veggies for dinner; the following Monday the scale moved down by an entire pound and has been moving consistently since then. I say this because carbs at night for me keep the scale from moving. I saw a YouTube of Autumn saying when she is in training she eats her "heavier" carbs up thru lunch, and not for dinner. I had to tweak according to what my body responds to, so I now have my corn tortillas, pizzas or bread(ed) stuff for lunch. Not sure if this helps any but I too have a love hate relationship with the scale and I do weigh myself everyday, always have and always will. Hang in there!0

@dkwi04 - i would definitely play around with your calories at this point. what have you got to lose? i know it is scary, but maybe if you played with either "quality" or eating a bit more, something would happen. every time i talk about calories to someone that is a "fitness guru" (my girlfriend is a professional athlete and fitness competitor) they are astonished that i sometimes only eat 1200. they always think it is way to low to "perform" - in this case, meaning for your body to be able to burn...
again, i'm just spitballing - i know it's easier said than done. but if you've gone a month of really eating well and nothing is happening, maybe it's worth a try.
me on the other hand - i hadn't lost anything in a month because i wasn't eating clean or using my containers. i was kind of stuck between the insanity food plan (not entirely clean, but you eat within a set of calories) and the containers of 21 day fix. i couldn't decide which i wanted to do. i was frustrated, but i had no one to blame by myself.
so yesterday i decided to start eating clean and counting once and for all...and i dropped half a pound. it's definitely motivated me to keep going. i think i'm going to finally stick to insanity and use MFP to track. i'm home for the next 12 days, so i think i'm going to try to do a quasi 21 day fix but continuing the insanity workouts. we'll see how that goes...0 -
I want to thank each and everyone of you for being here! This group has helped me immensely! When ever I find myself in a slump and doubting my progress is enough, all I have to do is come here and I am not alone!0
-
@dkwi04 I'll lay you odds that the nutritionist will say 1) not enough calories and/or 2) too much protein. I've noticed that 21DF (and other beachbody meal plans) do have more than the RDA for protein but I think that's a good thing so I have no problem with that. And didn't Chalene Johnson say a plateau can last up to six weeks? I don't know but it's fair to want to see results when you put in the effort. I don't blame you for wanting to tweak what you can to get the results you want/need.
@cindip63 I've noticed that for myself as well. On days when I have any yellow containers with dinner, I seem to go up the next morning but on days when I finish them all with lunch, I lose weight. The body is so weird sometimes. Wonderful but still weird.
@doodlebug32 I used to watch the Insanity commercials and hoped I could someday do them but, after my severe osteoarthritis diagnosis, I'll never be able to do them. I definitely anyone who can because they look like fun (hard but fun) and effective.
@blantondwb I know what you mean. I'm feeling a little stuck right now but then I come here and I realize that I'm doing okay, that we're all doing okay. And that's great!
Morning Workout and Walk
21 Day Fix Dirty 30
Used my heavy weights when prompted to do so and missed a few reps but definitely tried to keep up. I won't be increasing my weights any time soon. LOL!
PiYo Buns
I was feeling all cocky and confident, keeping up with the modified exercises and then . . . I really love Child's Pose. Just saying!
Morning Walk
Met with my friend for our Saturday morning walk. She walks slower than I do so I end up feeling like I didn't get any exercise but I remind myself that any movement is better than none.
Have a great Saturday everyone! I'm off to have a late snack!0 -
Day 21 was yesterday, sadly I just did not have the time to do my last workout but got it in this morning and tried out PiYo buns. Omg did I sweat, lol I'm surprised I made it through it to be honest.
Anyway, I was debating on what to do next but I am so pleased with my results I may do another round sooner than later and maybe through some PiYo in there when I feel up to it.
I was just doing the workouts with a 1200 calorie diet and lost 11 lbs and 10.25 inches!!!! Say whaaaaat. So happy and feel great! I still can't believe it. hope everyone has a great weekend!0 -
@venuila GREAT results. Pounds and inches! Awesome!!! Hopefully I can say the same for my round 3. Last time I only had lbs and barely any inches. But doing 21DF and PiYo together definitely works my body. I know I'm getting stronger (even if, unlike you, I can't get through the PiYo workouts yet). I just want to see some inches and lbs disappear.0

It was really tough. And definitely modified a lot of it. I found it a lot harder than 21 day fix workouts but that's probably because they're new to me and different moves.
I think I had such great results because I went from doing nothing and not even watching my diet to a 1200 calorie diet and working out. Honestly, before I was probably eating 2000-3000 a day! I'm sure my results won't be as great next time but it's definitely reassuring and I know I'm heading in the right direction. Going back to work is helping too I'm sure. I got a Fitbit zip and the first few days when I was doing nothing I only had like 1000-2000 steps a day and now especially when I work I'm over 7000. I think I hit 10k once. Huge difference!0 -
Playing catch up. I did barbell workouts yesterday. Today I got Cardio Fix and 30 Day Shred in. May do Abs Fix later0
-
Workout; 4.5 mile powerwalk, then Dirty 30. I struggled today; think the walk with the humid Texas weather wiped me out. Dirty 30 is challenging but gosh after one of the floor exercises I thought about just staying on the floor & taking a nap but I pushed thru it.0

Another Week of Gaining I saw the numbers on the scale and immediately reached for the tape measure. I'm smart enough to know that the numbers on the scale don't show the whole picture. So imagine how I felt when I saw that I'm gaining inches too. WTF???
Not happy And this is why intrinsic motivation is so important! Extrinsic motivation is fleeting and too contingent on external validation. My commitment to my health is not predicated on numbers.
But damn damn damn, it ain't easy. I pushed play anyway.
PiYo Interval Strength
So glad this was a shorter workout. Not because I couldn't physically do more (not that I managed to get through the workout anyway) but because emotionally I just didn't want to do anything. Again, intrinsic over extrinsic comes into it and I managed to make it happen in spite of myself.
Yoga Fix
I set up the timer on my camera and took pictures of myself struggling through yoga. Maybe I'm not intrinsically motivated after all; maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment.
Anyway, today is Mother's Day and I have cake and pizza for a Treat Meal coming my way. I confess, the numbers on the scale and tape measure are increasing the chances that I'll feel some guilt but I'll try to fight through it and give myself the same loving advice I'd give anyone else under the same circumstances.
Happy Mother's Day One and All . . . because I never met a women who wasn't nurturing and kind to someone, whether she gave birth or not. I plan on having a good one but first I am going to make myself a protein shake and then I'm going to use the bike. Try to burn off some calories before I pile them on. Have a great one everyone!0 -

I'm here to tell you!!!!! After about three weeks of a plateau. Gaining and losing the same .6 and gaining a bit more. Not losing much in terms of inches. I've tweaked a little bit here and there, did the 8 hour eating window thing this week and also made it a point to drink a recovery shake after my last couple of workouts.....I am finally down more then the .6. The scale showed me a 3.2 loss since Friday.
My old self would have given up. I would have skipped a workout and had a huge junk filled meal. Nope. I pushed play because I felt good and boy did it pay off.
You've listened to be complain for weeks. And you've kept me motivated - now it's time for you to listen to me. Push through. It can take up to 6 weeks for a plateau right? You've got this!!!! I believe in you

As much as you are working out it is a very good possiblity your not eating enough!0
-
Great news @dkwi04 !
Just keep pushing through it ladies! You got this!!! Just remember it WILL change and your body is getting stronger no matter what.
Did define lower body from PiYo today and followed it with total cardio fix. Ugh. I am pooped. Do you use a heart rate monitor @satiarenee?? Mine said 55 calories for the PiYo workout, that seems low to me. Shrug. Am new to the heart rate monitor things.
Anyway, hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms on here!0 -
@SatiaRenee I know how much it stinks to see those numbers on the scale when you have been working so hard! But there's no way all your hard work can NOT pay off. It's a blip. For sure. And would totally get me down, I can't lie. I get it. But it IS a blip!!! Chances are very good next time it will be lower. @blantondwb does raise a good point though - have you done the calculations for "very active"? Maybe you need to go up a bracket. Logically that way of thinking never made sense to me - but I have seen it work again and again.
@dkwi04 amazing results!!!!! Nothing is harder than staying motivated when you are not seeing the results on the scale but you DID and it has paid off!!! Here's to a continued downward trend!!
@venuila great job getting through two workouts, I don't know how you people do it!!! I am so done after one!!!!0 -
Day #4 almost done and I just found this group (happy about that!)!
I'm doing the food plan and DVDs and LOVE the workouts. They are the best workout DVDs I've done. I like the timed/do as many reps as you can-format. It's very easy to follow but a tough workout. I read some reviews before purchasing and am surprised at the reviews claiming the workouts were "too easy". Since you choose your weights and number of reps, it can only be "too easy" if you make easy choices.
I'd rather count calories and was doing that before getting the 21D Fix containers but I'm trying the containers. I thought the containers would help me get out of my head (if I go over my calories for the day, even by 100, I get antsy) but so far, that hasn't happened. I'm still tracking on MFP, in addition to using the 21D Fix tally sheets. I should just use the sheets.
I've tried the Shakeology raisin/walnut/oat bars using Isopure Low Carb Dutch Chocolate and they are DELICIOUS. I haven't tried Shakeology and won't due to the cost. Using the recipes/tips in the 21D Fix booklet, I've made the turkey lettuce wraps (very good, need hot sauce, IMO), the egg spinach cups (bland, also need hot sauce) and the oats/strawberries/PB breakfast....all good recipes/combos.
Looking forward to checking in here regularly and continuing "the Fix".0 -
@walkdmc I agree, the workout videos are awesome. The plan is great. I'm on round two, day 7 as of today. A few things I love about the plan; the 30 minute workouts are extremely effective and I've ventured out to try an assortment of veggies & fruits I would have never tried if not for this plan. I find myself craving fruit all the time! You will find the most supportive group on this board. The success stories are so motivating and inspiring. Wishing you much success!!0

Had a crazy week so didn't get much time to check in. I had 11 mother's day orders and 3 graduation cakes so I only got 5 hours sleep in 3 days. Still recovering from that. Unfortunately I missed 3 days of workouts but did well with food. This week is a bit easier so I'm looking forward to getting g 100% back on track.0
-
@walkdmc - I agree with you - I was finding it a bit "easy" so I upped my weights As far as calories, I am that way too! And I track both containers and calories - but really - try to stick to the containers regardless of the calories. I know it is hard but it works! Before the fix I was eating 1,200 crappy calories, but now I am fueling my body and my calorie intake per day is between 1,200-1,450 and it pains me to see it so high, but your body needs the fuel - and you are giving it the proper fuel too!
I start Round 3 today (I posted my results in the result thread). I am really excited for this round. Although I have 21DFX on its way to my house - expected to be delivered by Friday, so I don't know if I will do a full round three or just jump right into the extreme. I still have 16 pounds to lose so I might just try to knock some of that down first.0 -
I have been off track the past couple of days with my exercise. I have been trying to stick to the food plan. Hope to get back on track this week. I am still losing a little so I guess I haven't been that bad. Had a flare up of fibromyalgia and when that happens I am lucky to do my day to day activities. Hope everyone has a productive and good week.0

What a Difference a Day Makes
Was that me, who was disappointed because the scale and tape measure didn't show me numbers that made me happy?
21 Day Fix Total Body Cardio Fix
I'm closing in on the end of Round 3. At the beginning of this round, I increased my weights but not for this workout. I just didn't feel ready. Well, this morning I wasn't thinking about that. I wasn't even thinking, obviously, because I made it nearly halfway through the workout when I realized I was using the 8# weight instead of the 5# one. Oops. And no, I didn't finish the workout using the heavier weight. Having to switch is how I realized I was not paying attention when I grabbed the weights. But you know . . . I think I'll start using the 8# and maybe by the end of Round 4, I'll be getting all the way through TBCF without swapping out for lighter weights.
PiYo
Today is the closest I've ever come to completing this workout! Yes, all of my push-ups were still on my knees but I didn't miss as many reps. I'm definitely feeling stronger.
NSV for me!
Another pair of yoga pants started falling off. I had noticed last time I wore them that they were feeling looser but today I had to pull them up a couple of times because they were slipping down as I moved from one PiYo move to another. And as if that were not amazing enough, I managed to get into Warrior III without touching the chair. Seriously! For someone with a balance disorder, that is huge!
And thank you, everyone!
I'm going to stick this out through the end of the week, not changing my food bracket but if I don't lose weight and inches, I'll move up a bracket. Not enough calories is the only thing I can come up with to explain my stalled progress. That said, I know that plateaus happen and I can be patient.0 -
Wow @SatiaRenee , awesome results and progress!! And your yoga pants are falling off? Yoga pants are tight and stretchy so if they are falling off, you have lost a LOT of weight and inches. GREAT JOB!!!!0
-
My wife and I officially started the 21 day fix yesterday. We have been trying the portions earlier in the week and set Sunday as the start day. It is a big increase for me as far as intake but it all makes sense. I look forward to reading the group's posts and hopefully contributing as well. Have a fantastic week.

D5/R1...Cardio Fix today. I found it easier than the Lower Fix workout and was happy it wasn't just a bunch of high intensity jumping. I follow Renee (is that her name?, the less intense model). Glad to report the muscle soreness (that made sitting on a toilet super uncomfortable) is improving. Working through the soreness works!
Thanks for the welcome and it's so encouraging to read about everyones' results. I'll report my weekly weigh in results Thursday.0 -
Even though I missed a few workouts the scale was down .4 today. Even when we went out to eat I made sure I stayed as close to the plan as possible. I'm looking at it like I'm keeping this way of eating permanently, not for however many rounds it takes to get to goal. So if I want to indulge once in a while, I will. Life is too short not to enjoy the little things0

Can I join in? This is my first round Week 2.0
