    would work even better if you went to the Vuelta's headquarters...

    Actually, ANYONE who spots somewhere that actually has got proper maps of the route, by all means give me a shout... as trawling for the data is probably as time consuming as mapping the damned things.

    I've been poking around a bit today to see what I can find. So far, nothing but the abysmal "profile" maps off the Vuelta's site. They don't give much information at all. I was trying to decide if it was possible to determine at least the total ascent for the stages but I don't think enough info is provided.

    I saw on Twitter yesterday that Dan Lloyd of GCN was mentioning info about stage routes. I will tweet and see if they have a location for information/maps.

    Okay Folks

    :star::star::star:IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TIME:star::star::star:

    with just 2 weeks to go before the roll-out in Porto Banus, I guess its time to throw the start sheet out there and let people begin to add their names... Please don't pester me about "can I be number XXX" or "can I be on YYY team please" - As per usual I'll try and balance the teams out a bit, so while I'll try and keep you on the same team as you rode last years Vuelta, or failing that, the same team as you rode either the TdF or the Giro this year, I can't actually promise you anything other than the fact that I'll be riding as #309.

    So, just for a start...

    I'm IN...

    anyone else.

    Im in for the first two weeks if I'm allowed to play?

    My aim would be to put in some decent kms but not as bat *kitten* crazy as last time but likely to be more then my typical weekly riding I'm doing now, wouldn't mind using it to push another few lbs off is my main motivation and chances are I'll stick back on during the following week in Italy eating my body weight in pizza n ice cream, kind of a shame it's not the Giro.

    I'll play... I'm not a big contributor these days, but it feels weird to see the dossards and not be a part of it. I considered not doing the last one, but as always it was fun. It also helped get me out of my funk...

    Cruising as in "not riding much" or "going on a big boat full of geriatrics" (I did 3 months as ships photographer on Canberra in a previous life, I know of what I speak) or just (ahem) "cruising baby"

    I have a full size folding road bike (Montague FIT) that I take with me when I cruise. I could send it to you so you could ride it when you are in port, but since you're doing a repositioning cruise; it probably wouldn't do you much good. So far, I've ridden in Bermuda, Bahamas, Jamaica, Belize, Honduras, Mexico and the Cayman Islands with it...It makes cruising even more enjoyable.

    ah, a bit better than the one's I spent most of my time on... full of blue rinses and wrinkles... Seemed that it was the ambition of every old git with a bit of money left in the bank to go on a Cruise on Canberra before it was taken out of commission.

    Sort of "Go Cruise on Canberra then Die Happy"...

    Sadly, the "die happy" bit often came before they finished the "go cruise" bit... on one memorable 2 week cruise, we lost so many of the old dears that the Ships Mortuary (yes, they have them!) fridge was full, and one of the "walk in refrigerators" in the Galley had to be commandeered.
