Howdy y'all. It's marvelous Monday! 46 out there with an expected high of 64 and 0% chance of rain.
J made it safely to Myrtle Beach last night, cold and coughing and all. He's in a meetings/workshops/conference this week with his new company. His hotel room has a full kitchen, which I always loved when on an extended trip as I could stay in at least one or two nights and just cook something light, though I expect he'll be eating out with new co-workers most evenings, as he doesn't like cooking as much as I do anyway.
He'll be working directly for someone he used to work with years ago. In fact, when his job first moved to Atlanta, we even shared an apartment with her and she was the best room mate we ever had! But then she left for greener pastures, and the apartment was all ours until we bought the house we currently live in. I was still living mainly in Memphis then, and occasionally working a week here, and J was working mainly in the Atlanta area and sometimes we'd swap weeks so my week here would correspond with his week in Memphis. We didn't move the cats to the apartment. Once we bought the house, and his favorite cat passed on, we got Ariel and she moved back and forth with him and the others moved back and forth with me, so we didn't have to swap weeks any more, and I was able to spend some of the middle weekends down here too. But still, there were long periods of time when the family was split by distance, and I was so glad when I was finally able to move down here permanently.
Let me find some, hopefully, interesting videos now.

Hi
I went out walking once again this Morning. The temperature this morning was 28 on the porch and 33 on the cable channel. The frost was fairly heavy and it felt colder than what the Thermometer said it was. I did see the Super-moon when I started out walking through a very light cloud cover.

On the popular cooking hacks:
To be fair to the microwave cupcakes, there are lots of different recipes on the internet that are MUCH better tasting, and have better texture, than what they mixed up for the video. The best that I've tried do not use an egg. A whole egg for just that small amount of cake is way too much and will result in...well, they already found out, didn't they?
And the tomatoes between the plates? If they had put the top plate on right side up, so that the tomatoes were between the flat surfaces, it would have worked.
I don't think these people really know how to cook or how to use kitchen utensils...
And the "inside out" egg? LOL. There isn't enough yolk in an egg to do what their picture showed to be the supposed result. Assuming you can get enough spin on the egg to break the yolk, and doe any movement of the contents, you'll just end up with a scrambled egg in the shell.

Finishing up laundry this morning, that was meant to be finished last night but I forgot it was in there! J is traveling this morning/afternoon and needs this done so I'm pushing it.
Need to clear the sink, feed me, and feed the cats, who graciously (or maybe not so graciously) let me sleep in this morning when I told them at 5:55 that it just wasn't happening before 7:00 this morning.
Then when I did get up, suddenly remembered first load of clothes, wet, in the washer and second load of clothes, not even started yet!
So let me get started on food. First load is going in the dryer and second load is in the washer, going.
I see You posted after I did on Sunday, That is unusualparityanimal wrote: »Howdy y'all. It's marvelous Monday! 46 out there with an expected high of 64 and 0% chance of rain.

Howdy y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! 56 out there now with an expected high of 67 and 90% chance of rain!
Sounds like a good day to stay indoors and, hopefully, dry.
I have given Lilo her shot and treat (all three get a treat when she gets a shot), and eaten my breakfast. Need to clear the sink and maybe do some laundry. We'll see on the laundry...
Drinking my second mug of tea now.
After my breakfast, the cats had a little togetherness.

Unwanted hair ties. Well, at least she wasn't charged for them! It seems odd to me that they have to actually ship packages to raise their rating, but I guess that's just in case of an external audit so they can verify that a purchase was actually shipped.
It would be awfully scary to actually witness a missile explosion at fairly close range.
I guess "drunk as a skunk" might start being replaced by ... well, what rhymes with opossum?
Having been to Las Vegas quite a few times, I wouldn't want to live there. Maybe somewhere in the suburbs...
I guess offering a payoff might work, if you can ensure that the migrants won't be sneaking back.

I agree, Stay indoors when inclement weather threatens. I am happy that rain stayed away while I was out walking, That means that last nights weather forecast was wrong when they showed showers this morning. For where I am anyway.

Hi Valerie0 -
Howdy y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday. Yes, I'm up at 2:30 in the morning. I woke up about quarter to two with incredibly congested sinus, and that delightful sore throat and cough so at 2:00 I was in Walgreens reading labels.
I have taken stuff and am sucking a sugar free Ricola menthol and "original herb" cough drop. When the stuff has, hopefully, kicked in and the cough drop gone, then back to bed. I'm sure the cats think I've lost my mind.
If J hadn't gone to Myrtle Beach for a work conference (new job) and taken all his cold medicine with him, I wouldn't have been in Walgreens at 2:00 in the morning. I'd have just taken some of his.
Last night we did talk on the phone and surprisingly his new job brings him back together with some people he used to work with long ago, in Memphis.
I'm a few days behind J on this cold, and I'm sure he brought it back with him from Kentucky after Thanksgiving. He always seems to bring one back from there. I don't think it's the bluegrass state at all, but the cough and congestion state!
Let me look for funnies/interesting videos while finishing this cough drop. I may sleep late this morning if I can and if the cats will let me.
Oh, checked blood glucose since being sick can affect that. 120, which, for me, is perfectly normal for this hour of the morning...

Hi
I went out walking once again this Morning. The temperature this morning was 51 on the porch and 51 on the cable channel. I was under-dressed for my walk as result of that reading. When I got going the wind kept picking up and the wind chill told me I should have dressed warmer, thus I did not cover as much distance as usual
The forecast rain came in later than forecast as well as lighter and left earlier. The streets and sidewalks were already dry when I went out the door, I suspect the wind helped with that.

All well here...still can't get Tom to hold still for his weigh in...
I roasted 2 pans of veggies...a sliced baked potato that went into the iron skillet along with asparagus stems, and a quartered onion. The rimmed sheet pan had cauliflower, multicolored carrots, more asparagus stems...all are good, but the asparagus stems are a bit 'tough' they do much better steamed of 'wet' cooked. I had a bowl full of veg. for breakfast while watching Emmy eating crunchy insects!!! I've had crickets, though it was years ago...crunchy!
I intend to be back later today. What does rhyme with opossum? maybe assume? hmmm maybe. I still have more reading to do.
I think I shall be passing on eating bugs on purpose
We eat enough bug fragments as is.

You may inadvertently be getting more than you bargained for when you put paprika in your chicken paprikash.
A new Food and Drug Administration report, "Pathogens and Filth in Spices," says that 12% of U.S. spice imports are contaminated with bug parts, rodent hairs and other ingredients more appropriate to a witches' brew than your mother's favorite recipe.GardenKatGardens wrote: »I just found cartoons and a question from Roger about the big noise....
I think that is in reference to the big noise the other night...I called Tom and got no answer...after walking thru the parts of the house that he has access to, I came back thru the foyer and there in the living room, sat the 'big cardboard box' and 2 visible paws and a kitty nose and two very big eyes that looked remarkably like Tom E's!!! LOL. I don't know where he jumped from, but even he looked startled!!! I'm guessing I could leave that box there til Tom jumps over the rainbow bridge and he'd never go near it again!!! Poor ole cat!
Ok, more reading and laughing at cartoons later, right now I've got to get ready, or go to the hearing aid lesson in my pink jammies with a fox on the front of the top...(was on sale, cheap, and not to leave the house)

I need to run down to the basement freezer and bring up a set of frozen NS breakfasts since I have switched back to Hot Breakfasts and will be eating them until I have had one each of the NS breakfasts at which point I will switch back to Cereal until the quart of milk is used up and then the Hot / cold cycle begins again.

I have "Fisherman's Friend" cough lozenges in the house if I need them for a sore throat.
Not uncommon to bring something back when away from home. Some People always seem to be more than willing to to go out in public with that deep cough and share their disease with everyone they see.
I was not aware that being sick could have that effect by itself, I would have thought it more likely to be caused by a change in eating habits while under the weather.
Get well Quickly
