Howdy y'all. It's fantastic Friday! 66 with an expected high of 84 and 0% chance of precipitation.

Never did get out to the store yesterday. Maybe today.

Need to clean up yesterday's cat bowls. Dishwasher is running now. My weight is down a little bit more from the last time I checked. :)

Hi ! Def. too late for Good Morning!
Just finished the 'missed snacks', and Ed & I are from a very different era...I hadn't even heard of some of them. I will admit to having eaten some cheese curls /puffs. (and having orange sticky fingers)
Heading out to the gym, then to Publix to pick up a quarter of a watermelon, and an onion, and maybe banana's.

So far today, the dishwasher is running, I've folded 3 loads of laundry, and washed two. and a few other odd chores, you know the kind you run onto as you're passing thru a room, etc.
Have also cooked a couple cups of rice, and a bag of Mexican Fiesta frozen veg.
Oh, has everyone seen that Kroger will no longer be using plastic bags? I think thats great, however as we start showing up with our reusable totes I'm sure the baggers will be fit to be tied. I used to take them into various stores and mostly it was just the look on the baggers faces, and the fact that they would load one entire bag full of canned goodsor other heavy thngs, and weightless stuff in another...good way to tear up the good customers bags....:(
I do appreciate various stores for going plastic-less though.

Ok, time to move wash into dryer, and get myself to the gym.

I was sooooo tired yesterday after my stretching class that I really wanted to just curl up on my mat right where it was in the middle of the 'abs and stretch' room and sleep!!! Recovered nicely by this morning though! Our instructor had a good chuckle. She said she had us so relaxed we really didn't want to move...and she was right! Signed up for next week Tues and Thursday... glutton for punishment maybe???

    Ok, gotta go...
    Later...

I'm back home from walking with no cents found. The Temperature out the door was 63 degrees and is now down to 61 degrees, it was comfortable while walking due to the the great temperature and low humidity.

    Hi Valerie
Interesting that You should mention Kroger's and Plastic bags, That is one of the news links I just posted.

I prefer the Crunchy ones AKA Cheetos and Yes I also end up with orange fingers. The ShopRite sells them in small individual size bags at a price of 2 for $1.
So far today, the dishwasher is running, I've folded 3 loads of laundry, and washed two. and a few other odd chores, you know the kind you run onto as you're passing thru a room, etc.

That is one problem, It is also why my brother packs the disposable bags at the Grocery store. The other problem with reusable totes in my case is that some foods from the meat section tend to leak and thus the reusable totes will need constant washing. Other than that I feel that they will need regular washing. My Brother has been bringing home reusable totes when he runs across them for free.
Our useless Governor has said he will not sign a bill for a $0.05 per bag used be they paper or plastic since he wants them banned entirely. Has no one ever told him that You start slow and then go further ? Do You remember the backlash against going plastic bagless in Australia that I had posted links to ?

I want to pick up a bag of Rice just in case we ever need to dry out some sort of electronics more than for eating.

No Comment on the Glutton for punishment comment.

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! 64 with an expected high of 86 and 0% chance of rain. Beans are baking in the oven. Oliver was throwing up earlier and doesn't seem to feel well. Depending on just how he looks/acts later, I may just send J to the pool party without me and stay home to monitor Oliver. I doubt it's anything serious, but one never knows.

That's about all I have on the agenda today.

Well, need to clean up yesterday's cat bowls and feed the cats.

If you can't eat real lobster, maybe you can eat mock lobster. I've used Monkfish before for mock lobster and find that it is great, but probably not as inexpensive as cod.

That Sounds like our weather once again.

I hope that the problem with Oliver is minor, I hope it does not mean a vet visit.

My next Stop is the Cooking Rice Video. The ones that use fish to imitate Lobster, Since I do not eat Fish or Other Seafood are being skipped.

    Good Morning!
Happy Weekend to all us 'retirees' What makes weekend different than week day when you're retired, I do not know, but just knowing its the weekend sorta boosts my get up and go!!
Cat is eating his breakfast on the screened in porch, and I will have mine soon. Right now I have one over ripe banana staring at me....hmmmm.

Watched the Vegan Chicken wings video this morning...easy peasy as I loved baked veggies, and in a very few mornings it will be roasted roots time!

Meanwhile, here in 'reality ville', There are a few odds and ends to finish, maybe another load of laundry, and gym time. I ay make a batch of some kind of 'side'...like vegan potato salad, or tabouli, etc. :) And looking for a nice nap this afternoon.

Venezuelans, are really in a mess, and they better conger up a very strong leader...this is the ugly side wild inflation. I hope our 'powers' here in the USA are smart enough to keep us from becoming like them.

I think this may be a good day to be outdoors for awhile. Always something out there to do. But first I need to charge up Fitbit.. Back up is finished. Dishwasher unloaded, Just the usual Saturday morning!

Morning Ed...I didn't see your post. Watched Emmy this morning. Long ago, before I had picky eater children I use to make faux Lobster...was living in mid-west, and lobster...well, good luck finding lobster..so the cod that came frozen in a block became something like lobster! Don't know that I've ever eaten monkfish. Oh well..

Ok, I watched the 'cooking rice' video. Its not so very different than the 'usual way'. However lately I've opted for the easier no fuss or bother kind. Ok, usually I use the IP..but stove top, cook it like the Indians do in India. However much rice, wash 3 times...swirl it around or run your fingers sorta jiggly, drain, rinse, repeat...then...big pot for stove top. Add the rice, and a whole lot of water, bring it to a boil, back off the heat to medium, leave it open or put a lid on so that it doesn't exactly fit...in other words, prop it open just a bit. And let it cook for 20 or so minutes...test a couple grains to know that it is cooked. Take off the lid...put a big colander in the sink, pour in the rice, rinse with cold water to stop the cooking, and you have perfect, individual grains of rice. Some put ghee or an oil on the rice. I don't need the fat, so I don't. My eldest, Jack taught me that years ago, he picked it up from a restaurant he worked at while in college. It looks long, but is really quite easy, you don't have to worry with it sticking/burning, etc. And it gives you 20-22 minutes to do whatever else needs to be done in the kitchen. :)

Over ripe banana in my mind means banana bread or banana muffins

If I said the days sort of blend together, Yesterday felt like Wednesday for some reason and for my brother it felt like Sunday, Weird.

Venezuela is a extreme example of Socialism gone berserk IMO. I do not know where they are going to end up, Hopefully for the people there it gets better.

Just curious, how often do You need to charge the Fitbit ?

It could have been worse, The only Cod could have been Salt Cod

When I watched that Rice Cooking Video, I thought to myself they must have searched log and hard for someone so inept at cooking the rice.

Being lazy, when I have cooked Rice for many years I use the Rice Cooker, I add 1 cup rice to 2 cups water, Put the lid on and plug in, come back later, when the indicator light shows it has gone to warm, it is ready to eat or it can be left that way for a period of time. Perfect Rice every time as I like it. Salt the water before turning it on and add some Butter to taste after it is ready. Optional would be Chicken Stock or maybe Beef Stock and one of these days I shall try Rice and Chicken Gravy.
That method You use doesn't make for watery rice ?

    Have a Nice Day

Howdy y'all. It's scintillating Sunday! 66 with an expected high of 90 and 0% chance of precipitation.

Need to clean up yesterday's cat bowls and feed the cats. Oliver was showing signs of feeling a bit better when we left (a bit late) for yesterday's party, so we felt like it was OK for both of us to go. When we got home, he was even perkier, and J was able to convince him to eat some kibble. This morning he sounds a bit hoarse but is active and carrying his tail high as usual. He probably chewed on something he shouldn't have (maybe a bit of pothos leaf) and made himself sick.

Yes, I know some people say you shouldn't even HAVE pothos in the house with cats but really, it's not as poisonous as its made out to be. We've always had it and it's never caused any major problem with our cats. If a cat does chew on a leaf, it is very bitter and they won't chew much. It may cause some stomach upset and hoarseness or temporary loss of voice, but the cat will quickly learn to NOT CHEW on that kind of leaf again.

Are we taking a small chance by keeping these plants? Well, only in the sense that a cat may make itself a little bit sick for a day or so but that's one way they learn things. Of course if I were to catch one of them playing with a pothos leaf, I'd take it away from them.

Need to make another mug of tea and perhaps run the dishwasher.
