Freeze warnings out for tonite, with some sleet/light snow south of the city. So not at my house, which is fine by me.
When I got home this afternoon I started reading and watching (the meals for one, etc.) the posts....and Rogers links..the really notable Wiki link for Moon Cakes. (definitely not the moon pie and RC of the south Ed!!! LOL!) There are several coffee and dessert places close by me, and I'll be watching this fall. I may have to break a 'no meat/dairy' house rule, but I am a sucker for trying things..at least once. The one with salted duck egg will not be on my list to try. LOL. Just doesn't even sound tasty.
That may be all I know! ???? really. Ouch!
Visiting with family is always a good thing. Yesterday the Snow was melting and that left Ice in low areas and along the curbs, Not much snow melting will be happening with the temperatures in the Forecasts. The good thing is that any area that was plowed or shoveled is nice and dry unless melting snow puddled there. Yesterdays snow was really heavy on the snow shovel
The Moon Cakes in a decorative 4 pack tin that I was given at work seemed to always have a egg yolk in the middle, I ended up discarding the yolk due to the taste and enjoyed the rest of the moon cake.Going to start a load of laundry shortly. I'll at least have one thing done today, besides a clean kitchen sink, and 2 clean cat boxes. I'll take my small victories and just grin.
Hope you've both had great days...Roger careful with that heavy wet snow. (but you live in Jersey, and I know you know all about it.) Ed...stay warm tonite. Down to mid 20's tonite. I mean why not...everything is blooming..like the cherry trees, peach trees, etc.) Troubling is its going south of the city, where the fruit trees are. I'm guessing that our mountain apple trees are not blooming yet.
Ok, I'm rambling...
Later...
Careful, me ? You bet, and strangely enough shoveling the heavy snow was less tiring than walking for the same amount of time. It did leave me very hungry earlier than my usual meal time. I managed to do OK, I had 170g of Carrots and Green Beans, The Three Chinese take out Chicken wings from Sunday that were tasty cold, A Clementine and a Mandarin Orange and Some Baked Pork Loin salted to taste.
I hope the freeze does not ruin the Fruit Tree output.
Good Luck

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! -3C/27F with an expected high of 7C/44F and 0% chance of precipitation. No desperate need to get out, but I may go anyway. I bought a small corned beef brisket at Aldi yesterday to cook for the 17th. I'll look into getting cabbage or Brussels sprouts soon. I may go with frozen sprouts, though at the moment a nice wedge of cabbage, cooked in the pot with the corned beef sounds really good!
I've given Lilo her Tuesday shot and subsequent treats, and she is now happily snuggled in J's lap.

Good Morning!
Roger, I was surprised that you could get out for your walk this morning! Good for you.
Its cold, for us, this morning. Sunny! Wicked wind. Even the Tom E Cat goes out for about 5 minutes, to do his business I assume, as the cat boxes are still clean...but he wants right in again...can't blame him.
I gassed the car yesterday..thought about putting if off til today...now seeing today. Glad I did that chore yesterday.
So far today...1st load of laundry, folded and already put away. 2nd load in the dryer, and 3rd load in the washer.
I have high hopes for a perfect laundry run! That would be great...not sure I'll succede though. Long range plans seem to fall by the wayside in this household!
I do need to also run stick Dyson around. Tom E. is shedding. Must have thought spring had already arrived. Sorry Tom E. gonna be a few more days of cold and also rain. (I, however am as hopeful as the cat!)
Ed, I vote for cabbage and do make a loaf of Irish Cross Bread. I love that stuff. Strikes me as being a super huge biscuit! Whatever, is good!
Ok, Tom E the demanding wants ?????. Guess I should go find out.
Later...

We will be picking up the corned beef next week since based on previous experiences it will still be on sale. However as a small twist we still have one or two in the freezer so the new one will be frozen and the already frozen one defrosted. We might even pick up two and turn one into Pastrami before Vacuum Sealing it and freezing it.

I looked out the window before retiring for the night and given what I could see I was sure I would be able to walk and sure enough. There was supposed to be a bitter wind chill today, I got lucky and was out and back before the wind moved in.
Gas in the car _ CostCo ?
Tom E Cat might be feeling the cold more than usual with the shedding, a real nuisance in the house too.
Cabbage traditional for sure although I guess Brussels Sprouts could be a tasty alternative. Soda Bread or Scones, Hmm...
To me the Soda bread is more like a huge scone in texture if not taste and always needs RaisinsGardenKatGardens wrote: »

Hi...
good visit with the ortho doc. He's pleased with the x-rays/healing. Said to come back in a month. Meanwhile I can go to the gym...just no Treadmill. Guess I'm back to the recumbent bike, and the recumbent elliptical thingy.
That's ok...will be good to be around the gym family again.
I'm going for a nap...will get back later to watch video's and read articles.
Glad Roger could go out....(also glad I don't live in NJ or any of the N.E. states this winter!)
Ed. hope the vampire left you enough blood to get home on! OH...you like hot spicy stuff. I got the Chili Lime Cashews. Hot stuff! I'll take their word on the lime being there...couldn't taste it cuz of the spice..
Soon to snooze....0 -
Ok, The chili lime cashews...from Trader Joes...Obviously I was more tired than even I knew!!
I've done this in Massachusetts , only you can be sure I had on more clothes and coats!!! LOL. Diapers would freeze before I could get the second clothes pin on them. BUT...sure did have white, white, white baby clothes and diapers. Don't know why...but freezing cold and all that snow bleached anything!
Yeah, gasoline at my Costco...:) Great prices. And close by. Win-Win!!
I'd opt for cabbage too. I'm trying to decide what to have for St. Paddy's day just like Ed....I've looked at oven baked 'cabbage steaks' with mustard sauce...and I've got recipe's for boxty..(potato pancakes, thick pancakes) or there is the old standby...cabbage with mashed potatoes...etc...such problems....LOL!!
That air fryer/oven is sure tempting. I think when my toaster oven croaks I may think about it more seriously.
I'll have to do a lot of thinking though.
Ok, I'm going to eat my dinner. I hope you both have a good evening!

I am thinking Maybe Oven Baked Asparagus rather than Mashed or Baked Potatoes however I suspect my Brother will want some form of Potato.
I would look at the cleanability of both of those before deciding

Hi.
Just finishing my dinner. Busy day!
Went to the gym! All good! I used the recumbent elliptical thingy. (It needs a name) Spent 15 minutes. Didn't want to 'over do'. Its been 6 weeks since I stepped foot in the gym.... Tomorrow the bike!
Then home, lunch, and a nice nap.
Followed by some outdoor time trimming back the roses, and picking up tree litter....i.e branches and twigs in the yard.
Need to attend to the kitchen, and spend some 'nice' time with Tom E.
Surprisingly Roger, winter hung clothes, on a sunny day dry amazingly quick. I think it has more to do with very low humidity/dew point. (my guess you understand doesn't really matter...just those clothes dried faster than in the summer)
I'm not sure what, if anything I'll cook for St. Paddy's day. I'll be at the beach. Last year Marietta and I walked to a nearby restaurant and had Irish Dinners. Complete with Irish soda bread. So, if everybody is agreeable we may just do that again this year. There will only be 4 of us, so its not like we'll need a big table, etc.
Ok,...off to the kitchen.......

Howdy all y'all. Now it's REALLY satisfying Saturday! Apparently I was trying to speed up the weekend!
The show started yesterday, and yesterday was the worst for me, work-wise. I was out of the house at 6:30 in the morning, helped with the breakfast for the judges (and volunteers) and then the lunch. We did, at the last minute, get permission to use a small kitchen space in a nearby building, for sink, refrigerator, and a microwave oven, and they opened up some classroom/multipurpose rooms for the judging and hospitality. We have them for the weekend.
I got home for a nap yesterday, and then back even further downtown to a dinner party for the volunteers.
Today I will eventually get down there to set out what snacks there are, make a pot of coffee, and help with the lunch for the vendors.
I haven't promised to be there for anything tomorrow, but I think J has agreed to give a demonstration on mounting orchids to wood, so I might go in with him. Or I might not!
