    Hey!
So far so good today with the weather....but...I'm heading for the gym shortly. Will probably give the rain gods a good chance to soak me to the bone! Is ok, I"ll just drip my way thru Publix...:)
Rain is expected tomorrow....nice Wednesday and Thursday.. with more rain on Friday. What a week!

I watched the food safety vid. Mostly agreed with what I saw. Just remember sell by and use by dates are quite different...AND to top it off, they are set by the mfg...meaning NO regulations! Fox is in the hen house again, eh?

Canned meat. That one cracked me up, and I'm not a fan of The Wolf Pac..or whatever he calls himself. I was interested in what he would do with it. Roger you should watch...find out how far from 'true' Philly Cheese can go!!
    Hello Valerie
Drip or Drip Dry  Rain today and a couple of more day later this week.

Believe it or not I am aware of the difference between Sell by and Use by dates, Even with a use by date I do not believe the food item goes from safe and nutritious to it'll kill me when midnight of the use by date happens

I trust the manufacturers to err on the side of caution, After all why risk a damaging lawsuit or publicity ?

I remember when the freeze dried hamburgers were discontinued by NS and they were not even in a can. The thing they still sell "The Hickory Smoke Flavored Beef Patty" is in my opinion inedible and I tried different things to make it so and had no luck.

I plan to watch the Wolfe Pack one next so I will know what You are referring to. Even around here in the state next to Pa. there are so many variations on a Philly Cheese Steak
I'll try to get back to the others later.

Roger I don't hear rain. Heck, I don't even hear most thunderstorms.. And I'd love to have a steel roof! :)
I've said it before..Whole Foods is only as expensive as you let it be...their prepped foods and salads are pricey, as are most of their spices, but there is always plenty of cheaper fruits and vegetables...shop the sales, and as a Prime Amazon member with a Whole Foods App on my phone I get additional off as well as special member sales. So.....

Ok, Off to the gym. I'm not sore from yesterdays battle of the vines in the back yard..may as well see what tomorrow will be like..(I may wake to 'second day sore'. :( ) Or not???? LOL!

    Later...
Lucky You not hearing the Rain or thunder. A steel roof would be nice from a longevity viewpoint, from a noise perspective I suspect it could be noisy, Maybe lots of insulation under it to deaden the sound ?

I Saw all the Amazon plugs for Prime members, Not for me, I'm not going to get a Smart Phone just for that when the old flip phone keep chugging along and only needs charging once a week or longer depending on my use of it.

I suspect that if You are not sore the first day You will be fine.

    Have a Good Day

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! Supposed to meet Valerie today for lunch at Salata. Then, since I'll be out anyway, I plan to get some cat food and, perhaps, a few grocery items.

Of all the things they discontinued, that was the one that hurt the most for me. Those freeze dried beef patties were one of the best things they distributed. A little bit fragile, but so tasty and convenient! I never could find a similar product that I could order, though there is an abundance of freeze dried ground beef available. If the beef patties were available they would be great for backpacking, camping, survival, or emergency rations. I haven't searched online for them in a while. Maybe I will do that this morning.

    Good Morning!
Map in the phone ready for action. I've been lost, really lost in that area before. At one time, years ago Jack worked in that Technology Park and I went to meet him for lunch. I'd been there before..don't know how I got so turned around...finally found myself at a place I could give Jack a location, and we ended up at Medlock Bridge and hmmm, for lunch at Wendy's!!! After that we began meeting at the Forum! Or even at Medlock bridge (aka 141) and Pleasant Hill...there were a couple of places there we liked. SOOOOO, it is with high hopes, and Ed's phone number I will make my way to parts semi-unknown! Looking forward to seeing Ed.

Roger I knew you knew about sell by and use by dates...but when I re read that more carefully I'm not sure they did!! LOL!

I too loved that piece of cardboard that became a hamburger patty!! I did NOT expect to like that, and like you all, I loved it. Wonder why they stopped selling it. Mfg, distributor, etc? Something obviously didn't work for NS.

I'm betting that if I went to sleep in the attic with a steel roof, and it rained...I'd not hear it. That's how deaf I am. No hearing aids...very little do I hear. One of the reasons I first got hearing aids...I was afraid I'd not hear emergency vehicles....

Ok, I need to be getting some street clothes on, and such. Going for very casual...like jeans, blouse, and jeans jacket..and my ever loving sneakers. :)

Cat's being a jerk today. Didn't want to go out, so he was carried out this morning. He finally ate his breakfast, and still he yells at me. I think he and his pillow fell off the coffee table this morning. Sorry I missed seeing that! Nobody put that pillow there for him, it WAS for my leg elevation while I sat on the couch...HE has taken it to be HIS! Which is ok really! LOL!

    Later...

    Hello Ed
I would not say the best thing but not too bad, As I remember the story of why they disappeared, They were a overrun in production for the military and when they were sold out they were gone, Not even a search of the internet turned any up at that point.

I did order Hamburger in a can just to have something on hand that is easy to use.

    Hello Valerie
You can see the answer as to why NS stopped selling in in my reply to Ed, in short they were not selling enough to have the manufacturer do a production run just for them, I suspect that a small production run would have been very expensive.

Maps on a phone, Too small and no use to me with my Dumb Phone
I'm betting that if I went to sleep in the attic with a steel roof, and it rained...I'd not hear it. That's how deaf I am. No hearing aids...very little do I hear. One of the reasons I first got hearing aids...I was afraid I'd not hear emergency vehicles....

I'm sorry to hear that I hear anything, My problem is separating one voice from another which is also a form of a hearing problem as I understand it. When I walk with the iPod playing in the headphones I use I can hear cars coming from a long way off so It is OK, I have a audible warning and can turn and look

As I see it Your cat is just being a cat.

    FOOD REVIEW!

    Burman's BBQ Sauce (Memphis Style)

Y'all know I usually make my own, home made barbecue sauce. But I saw this at Aldi the other day. I wondered whether they could get Memphis style right. So I bought a bottle.

They got it right! Have I had better? Yes, of course. And I've made better myself. For a bottled barbecue (excuse me, BBQ) sauce, this is quite good!

Rich and thick, with a good, sweet (but not TOO sweet) flavor, and just enough vinegar to offset the sweet without making it sour. I prefer spicy hot along with the sweet, but wasn't surprised that this one wasn't spicy.

For a bottled BBQ sauce, I'll give it 4 out of 5!

I may go and see if they have any more. and see what other style(s) they might have. I served it on tenderized pork chops, with field peas and snaps.

This is one I would likely Buy for the same reason that You likley would not buy it again after giving it 4 out of 5, The Spicy Hot is not to my taste.

The Chops look tasty. The local ShopRite has Memphis style Ribs in their Hot foods section some of the time. Usually very tender, fall off the bone and tasty. If they were Spicy Hot one try would have been enough, however they are not hot and I do buy them some of the time.

Ok, I was trying to get the cropped pix, which somehow I made into a video...never mind....we'll just leave it at
    'New Haircut' OK?

    Later...
Since the image looked like it was outlined I wonder if You could have done a cut on it and then pasted it into some sort of image editing program, I'm guessing that the apple OS includes one with basic capabilities. I know I could have done it in the Windows Paint program and then cropped the image, saved it and then put it into the post.

BTW If You thought that Your desktop was cluttered, You should see mine, I really need to go through the shortcuts and do a drastic cleanup. I'm sure when I look at them closely I will find that I will be wondering why I did some of them.

    The Image came through fine.

89 degrees in April, Yikes what is the upcoming summer going to be like ?

    Have a Nice Day

Howdy all y'all! It's thrilling Thursday!

It's supposed to be another pretty nice day, albeit a bit warmer than I like for April. I might desert the cats for a while today and visit with a friend. And maybe a little bit of shopping.

We've had cats for almost a quarter of a century. The first one was long haired. I've always had to de-fur the beater brush occasionally.

    Good Morning!
I got sucked into reading the Costco thing, which goes on and on and yep, and on! Interesting read. Costco no worse than Sam's or Target or Walmart I suspect??

Clothes drying, and heading to the gym just as soon as I type the usual Lat___... )
    :)

Sunny morning, lot of chores indoors that need to be done...but most likely after gym I will do a bit of yard work...rain tomorrow= chore day. Also a mid morning trip to see Bone Doc. Since even the evening achy has disappeared I am expecting a good report, and hopefully a medical release...ok?

All my food for today is already cooked, even the oatmeal I just finished. (I accidentally made a double batch yesterday. ) The rest came from Whole Foods Hot bar.

Oh, and for the curious...my one item from Trader Joes yesterday was for their Pound Plus Dark Belgium Chocolate bar....which I should not eat. But, do eat on occasion.

I will get to the rest of the vid's and articles later...right now the dryer is buzzing, and I'm getting dressed and heading out!!

Yes, Roger vegan cheddar, swiss, smoked gouda (my fav) and shredded parm! All come Vegan if you look for them...Are they vegan, yes. are they healthy..not so much. No protein or other noticeable nutrients except for fat. More fat than I need to be eating.

And today after gym went to Publix, and I saw JUST EGG!! THe vegan egg substitute made from plants...looks and tastes like eggs, or so I've read. The price wasn't on the shelf, but I bought a bottle anyway...I paid, I found out, when I got home, $7.99 for it. Expensive 'trial'!!! BUT...it supposedly makes good omelets which would be nice, etc. So as a very occasional splurge...

Now, heading to the kitchen to heat up my lunch.

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and not a single solitary cent was found. The Temperature out the door was 50 Degrees. There was a breeze when I headed out the door that ended before I returned home.
The rain in the forecast is for Friday night into Saturday followed by Rain Sunday night into Monday. That has changed once again back to what they forecasting earlier in the week.

    Good Morning Ed
Today is looking OK with the clouds supposed to move out later, then this evening the rain is forecast to move in around 7 PM through Mid Morning Saturday :(

I think the cats will survive being deserted for part of the day. I had wondered about that, do short haired cats cause the same problem or ?
Or You could always switch to those ugly Hairless cats  Someone must like them ?

If I said I hate those endless click for next articles, However I did click on and found it interesting. The Only rational for those is to garner advertising revenue as I see it.
Supposedly CostCo is a decent place to work from what I have seen online.

Rain for parts of the day for Today through Monday :(

My brother is itching to get out and run the Rototiller through the garden, That is not to be as the ground is still wet and unlikely to dry out for the duration of the 7 day weather forecast.

    I was curious

How did the Oatmeal heat up in the Microwave ?

healthy or tasty, That depends on Your priorities.
$7.99 for a Vegan Egg Substitute, I hope the Bottle (?) was huge for that price. I tend to not buy if there is no price shown on the shelf unless I am really interested in it, them I go to the courtesy counter for a price check.

I hope it does make a good Omelet, Just curious would that be a Vegetable Omelet or one with Vegan Cheese ? I know which way I would go, Vegetables in a Omelet, Not interested, A nice Cheese Omelet with American or Cheddar Cheese OTOH.

    Have a Nice Day

Welllll, yesterday it was morning....today? Nope!
Saw the bone guy! Healing nicely, says he can see new bone growing over the fracture. But, he does want to see me one more time. :) He also said that I didn't have to wear the ace bandage wrap, unless my leg bothered me. SO, thinking I'll wear to gym, maybe for long shopping days, and outside because the lawn is not 'flat'... but glad I can wear it 'as needed' now forward! So, on way from the doc's I stopped at the gym, and then picked up banana's and a nice avocado to go with that omelet tomorrow. Lunch, and a nice nap..

Roger, I understand your brother wanting to get the gardening started! That was me! I remember planting peas one year in Virginia in JANUARY!! That was a first even for me. But the guys at the seed place swore that if I could get into the garden... and they were right. Those early early peas were so sweet..and when the vines were ready to be pulled, it was time to set the tomatoes in their place. So, that worked well!!
I was thinking I'd put onions and peppers in the omelet Sunday morning, and some grated cheese on top...how's that sound? :) I bought the 'Just Egg' because I have the company's other products and they are good...the major ingredient is Mung bean sprouts.... is egg colored. Vegan cheeses that I use are Follow Your Heart brand. I think we've talked about them before...they are all tasty, and they melt like 'real' cheese.

Never did rain today on my end of the county Ed. Hope you were that lucky too. I hate having to deal with groceries and rain. Groceries are bad enough!

Ok, after a long delay to mollify a very vocal cat I'm back to say

    Hi
I'm home and feeling tired and taking into consideration the weather I did not go walking and Therefore not a single solitary cent was found. The Temperature outside is 62 Degrees. The rain in the forecast is for Friday night into Saturday has happened and currently the rain has ceased a short while ago, however the 6AM Weather Radar shows that there is more rain to the west moving this way.

A question if I may, My brother is complaining about the price of Canned Butter Beans, So I was wondering what they cost elsewhere if I am not imposing.

Millennials talking? Strange things happen at the Masters where cell phones are banned

Is this true or false I do not know, nice story OTOH.

The Phrase "Man's Best Friend" originated in a court of law. Back in October 28, 1869, A man's dog (named old drum), was shot to death by a neighbor. Animals had no rights back in those days, but the man wanted justice and so he hired 3 lawyers to sue the man who shot his dog. One of these lawyers, named George Graham Vest, is given credit for originally coining the phrase "Man's Best Friend" during his final summation to the jury. By the time he was finished with his speech, the jury only took 2 minutes to reach a verdict. The jury awarded the victim $5 (a very large amount of money back then). The jury also wanted the man to be sent to prison, but there were no laws governing this type of incident back then so the judge was not able to honor the jury's request for prison time.

This is a record of the final summation given by the lawyer...

    Gentlemen of the Jury

The best friend a man has in this world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son and daughter that he had reared with loving care may become ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him when he may need it most. Man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees and do us honor when success is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our head. The only absolutely unselfish friend a man may have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog.

A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and poverty, in health and sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, when the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he can be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of a pauper as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert... he remains.

When riches take wings and reputations fall to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens. If fortune drives the master forth an outcast into the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard him against danger, to fight against his enemies, and when the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his grave side will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws and his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death.

    Have a Nice Saturday

Why Not, I might try the Vegan Lasagna made using Matzohs since I could get a case of six boxes for free with the Coupon at the ShopRite, I would of course likley use Real Ricotta and Mozzarella since I am not trying to eat Vegan. And Those cheeses should add nutrition ? Toss in the $1 off coupon for any variety of Manischewitz® Matzo Ball Mix. If I liked Matzo ball soup I might be interested in the coupon or to just turn the Matzohs in Matzo meal for Matzo Balls.

    Hello Valerie
You are just saying it isn't morning since You posted in the evening

When I hurt my knee one year I was never able to keep the ace bandage, it always came loose, Unwrapped itself. So as a Cure I bought a elastic Knee bandage in the proper size and pulled it on while dressing and that was quicker and solved the problem. Wearing the bandage to the gym sounds like a reasonable preventive measure to me.

They mentioned that Millennials and newer are eating a lot of Avocado Toast on the TV news yesterday. My brother who knew not what that was asked how do they keep the toaster clean when they put the avocado slices in it to toast them. I had to explain what it is too him, Sometimes he has weird holes in his food knowledge.

I am thinking it might be safe to plant the Dahlias now and I am sure that the Gladiolus would be safe. Now if the ground would just dry out enough to be dug.

If the Vegan Cheese couldn't melt it would be useless IMO. Just Curious do You ever make French Toast or Grilled Cheese using Vegan ingredients ?
When I do a Grilled Cheese I melt butter in the Skillet and then put a heavy pot on top to get the proper finish on the sandwich.
